My love affair with the J Jill store is over....

OMG!! Like, I haven't worn a size 14 since high school... (a little flashback to the 80's for you). WOW! What a great NSV. Happy Day!!
  2. Starving is never good - If your body thinks you are starving it will store every calorie you take in... Try eating ever 3-4 hours and taking in at least 1200 calories for a few days. Once your body is convinced you AREN'T starving, it may let go of some of that baby fat.

    Cost questions

In Richardson TX we have AIGB - American Institute of Gastric Banding. They have some financing people they work with. Even if you aren't in TX - they may be able to direct you to a financing source. 214-389-7430

    Cost questions

There are some financing options... In Richardson, TX we have the American Institute of Gastric Banding (AIGB). They have some financing people that may be able to help you. I may have to use them myself, if BCBS gets persnicketty on me. I start harassing them for an answer on Friday... But back to you: try calling AIGB - 214-389-7430. They may be able to give you some info on financing. :]

Buck up, Lil' Buckaroo... If all else fails you can finance and go to TJ... I heard that Co-morbidity allows a BMI of down to 35 - so as your doc says - you should just make it. I know about the Too Healthy thing. Who could have known that I would EVER wish for High Blood Pressure or High Cholesterol?? What insanity is this? My BMI is in the high 50's - so I am hoping they will see the necessity for the surgery even without lots of co-morbs. I would PREFER to get this whole fat thing under control BEFORE that stuff can get to me. Just working today - the usual stuff. I come in in the morning - pop up LBT and check in throughout the day to see what's up. Now I am getting ready to depart the premises (fixin' to leave for those that only speak Texan) and just thought I would give a Shout Out to my Sister in Crime. Have a good one!

    subway wrap ?

Maybe you aren't eating enough? Are you getting 1200 calories? Sometimes Less is not more.... If you aren't giving your body what it thinks it needs then it will just cling to every little thing that you eat. "but not until I have eaten way more than a Bandster should eat" - ok and how much is that? Please try to remember that everybody is different. If the scale is still moving in the right direction - even if it is moving slowly - then you are still ok. Also - look for NSV's - If you are exercising 30 minutes a day, maybe you are gaining some muscle mass - which would offset fat that you have lost. The scale could read the same number while your body is actually getting smaller. How are your clothes fitting? The fill choice is up to you - but I have seen lots of posts from people with too-tight fills and it doesn't seem to be any fun. Are you having the fill under Flouro? You seem to have had great success since April... it could just be Jack's Old Fat Theory: Those last 30 pounds have been around. They are wiley and they will fight for their lives... and you will have to just keep chipping away at them. You have done GREAT!! 42 pounds since April is nothing to sneeze at. Slow and Steady wins the race. (Oh - and when I come whining to the board in 6 mos because I think it's going too slowly - feel free to quote this post at me.) :]

    Reality Check - Not pretty

The "What Not to Wear" folks would say it was the cropped pants. They would undoubtedly tell you what a FAB @$$ you have - if you were wearing a nice straight legged pant that went down to the ankle... I say, wear what you want - it's a fine @$$ and I would kill for it. :]

    The waiting...

You are doing the right thing. REALLY. Unless you want to be fat for the rest of your life? I sure don't. You are doing the right thing. You are doing the right thing. AND You are doing the right thing. Everyone here is rootin' for you.

And don't forget to wear the big clunky shoes for the weigh-in. That way, you're weight loss before the surgery while on liquids (or whatever your doc does) will be that much more dramatic. Good luck, tomorrow my Sister in Crime. :]

    Very discouraging news

Well, there isn't really a specific diet - but getting enough Protein and keeping the calories down would certainly be beneficial. There are some financing companies that will give you a loan for this procedure - at least in the states. If you could afford to make a payment, you could check that out - but I know that it's similar to car finance. If you can't afford to buy a car for the cost of the surgery - then you probably can't swing the band financing. Just to be sure, you might want to check out the Inamed website... http://www.inamed.com/products/obesity/international/patient/patient.html You can request info to see if there are any financing agencies doing loans in Canada. (((HUGS)))

    Very discouraging news

So, there is no option to go to a different province or anything? I am so sorry. I don't suppose with 4 kids you have the ability to finance the surgery elsewhere? I guess the only thing to do is try to keep yourself intact for 2 yrs. If it's any help at all, we will be here for you to talk to.

There are LOTS of places that do the surgery. Where are you? Can you get a referral to another place?

VENT HERE - anger about Katrina Relief

On a Happier Note - I work for a division of GE - and I just got an e-mail from our Corp Pres. We the employees have donated $1million to Red Cross - our company has matched that, and donated another $5million. Plus - $10 million in medical equipement, Water purification equipment and temp. shelters. One of our higher ups is coordinating with Mississippi & Alabama government to get it all where it needs to go. Now, GE has deep pockets - but that is still pretty good. Thank you for your support. :]

VENT HERE - anger about Katrina Relief

That Letter from Michael Moore pretty much says it all. Where the hell is the National Guard? And turning people away? What is that all about? I think our grand government just didn't want the Canadians to see the mess - and the fact there there are NO MILITARY present. I feel so horrible for those people stuck just sitting there on the overpasses. FIVE DAYS. The National Guard could have flipping WALKED there by now. Nobody has a plan? And now, Houston is turning people away? I am beyond anger. I am seething.

    Hey all...

Hi Robin. I think the band will be the perfect tool for a young person like you! It stays with you for the rest of your life to help you keep control and the side effects are minimal in comparison to the alternatives. It will be soooo great for you to be able to move into your adult life with your weight under control. Of course, in your life-time, they may yet come up with that magic pill that changes our whole genetic structure and makes us all naturally thin - but even if they do, the band can be removed. Welcome! And good luck. We are all wishing for your success! :]

    NSV anyone?

ROTFLMAO!! I have the vision of my own knees flapping... Not a pretty sight. So glad for you. Unflappable is a good goal! :]

    Spam from Deena

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and puts down the other ducks just a little too much - even gullible ol' me says: "Hey - it must be a Duck". I'm thinking Jaxson must be getting something out of all this - aside from our ire.

    I hate fat people!!!

I swear - if I ever get a band and start losing weight - I am going to have a T-shirt made that says: "Former Fat Chick in Progress. Ask me about Lap-Band surgery." Then, anybody who sees me will get the choice to ask or run the other way. :]

    Spam from Deena

I sent her a PM - she says she works as a teacher at a make-up school and that she will be banded in in September. It seems her intentions are good. I advised her to go to Introductions and do a proper post of who she is and why she has blasted every thread with her advert. Maybe I am just a big softie - but let's give her the benefit of the doubt.

    No help for the wicked

It's a great thread - and it merits a second read-through. Sadly, I don't think that even I could eat all the normies - there are just so MANY of them... So, I guess we'll just have to try to educate them. AND - for the person who says we don't have a physical addiction to food - UM HELLO?!?!?! If you stop eating, you DIE. I would call THAT an addiction for sure.
