Oh my. You girls WERE just a smidge plastered, weren't you? Looks like you had fun, though. So, Trish - When are you going to name us all Honorary New Mexicans??

It could also be because the insurance companies are still *&^*#$@ around about how the Lap Band is still "Investigational". I got that one from Blue Cross of CA today. It's just plain easier for them to get paid if they push the "insurance company approved" bypass. I guess you can't blame them for wanting to get paid - but I find it hard to accept that ANY doctor would refer a patient to such a dangerous alternative when a safer one is available. Whatever happened to Do No Harm? Thanks Dr. Hekier. We really do appreciate your comments.

Sorry, Nana. I would have responded to your questions, but I am not banded, yet, either. I can tell you that answers to most any question you might have are probably on the boards - you just have to search for them. At the top of the page in the blue bar click on search and type in a word or two. That search will bring up numerous posts to choose from. Also, the Main Forums page is a great place to start. Support & General Discussion are great - plus Insurance for some help there. Welcome!

feeling dumb-can't even "cut" & paste
ReneBean replied to lady in red's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You got the cut and paste successful - but scroll to the bottom of the page after you create the ticker. There are a few different sets of instructions to choose from. You want the one that says bbcode - NOT the one for HTML. Keep trying. :] -
feeling dumb-can't even "cut" & paste
ReneBean replied to lady in red's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All right ladies & gentlemen. Computer lesson number one. Please keep in mind that you cannot "break" the computer unless you throw it on the floor... Do not fear your computer. The worst you can do is mess up a program. (In which case you pop the disc back in and re-load it.) On-line, you can't even do that - so anything you do at tickerfactory or tickercentral.com is not permanent or lasting. If you take a deep breath and read the instructions as you go along, that will help. But panic tends to blur the vision - so I say again, take a deep breath and relax. Cut and paste commands are fabulous tools once you know how. Use your mouse to highlight some text. 1) Place the cursor before the first letter of the text and depress the leftmost button on your mouse. 2) Hold that button down while you drag the mouse across the text that you want. You should see blue highlight following in the wake of your mouse. 3) When you reach the end of the text that you want, and it is all highlighted in blue, release the left mouse button but do NOT click again - or your highlight will disappear and you will have to start over at step one. 4) Now, you have blue highlighted text on the screen and no buttons pressed, right? Click the RIGHT button and a little grey box should come up on your screen. It has several options on it: Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste & Select all. If you have text highliged, Copy will show up in black. 5) Click on Copy. The little grey box will disappear - but nothing else will happen at this point. You just have to have faith that the computer has actually copied the text and move on. 6) go to where you want to place the text. Place your cursor where you want the text to start. Click the RIGHT mouse button again. The box will come up again. 7) This time choose "paste". Now, something should be happening. I have noticed that on LBT, the paste takes a couple of seconds - so wait for the count of five. You should see the text where you pasted it. These instructions will work in any windows-based application - so you can practise your cut & paste skills in Word or Excell until you are an old hand. With the ticker, you paste the text into the signature section in User CP. Save it. Preview it. (All from user CP. No need to post these tests). once your signature looks the way you want it, save it again. Then it SHOULD come up in your posts. :] -
Well, apparently, the Band is "Investigational". It's not me, its the procedure. I guess the Lawyer may be required for this. My teeth are grinding and steam is rising from my ears. Those folks at Blue Cross had better stand back... Hurricane Irene is a-commin...

Well, SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH, I have NOT been pre-approved... Of course, the contact guy who could tell me anything concrete is out until tomorrow and his VM indicates NOT to leave a message because it "may be deleted". (translated - he will dump everything in his voicemail when he arrives at work tomorrow...). GRRRRRR.

Great. It's the old - point at the other guys - routine. In real estate, we see it all the time. The loan officer blames the processor, the processor blames the appraiser, the appraiser blames the realtor - it goes on and on. The end result is the same, the transaction still isn't closed and the borrower and the seller are WAITING. I haven't called, yet. I suppose I should. It's always a 15 minute hold - so I should start now. I guess I am just not ready for the aggravation of what is to come. I am in that mode where I don't dare allow myself to hope - because some YAHOO will tell me that a) they haven't finished the review. they need further information. c) the procedure is not "medically necessary". **Sigh** I have to call today, though. It has been a week since the last call. It's time. Everybody think good thoughts. :]

I suppose that it hasn't occurred to them that if YOU are a "liar & a very dishonest person" then so is their beloved son.... And, of course, you did NOT lie. You told them you were having the surgery near San D and so you did. I am sorry - they are clearly insane. And you're probably right about MIL being jealous or not wanting to look any worse. You are doing GREAT! Keep up the good work. One assumes you are doing this for yourself, first, and your immediate family, second. You and they are the only ones that matter. Take Care!

Lisa - glad to hear you had fun... And what a bonus to find that the near-by nutritionist is going to work out well. Eileen, darling. I have a similar experience with my current boss. Mind you, he doesn't know me because he was recently transferred to his new position - but he ain't never gonna know me if he won't look at me or talk to me!! I guess I won't care if I get my transfer to the new position. I will just have to be sure that the new boss will look me in the eye. Of course, there are SOME bonuses to being invisible. More time to spend on LBT, for one... But that is only good on the short term. My long-term career goals require that I be noticed - and in a GOOD way. Everybody have their fingers crossed for me getting the transfer? GOOD! Ira - where are you? Whatcha doing? Summer is still clinging to Dallas like a muggy wet blanket. I am about ready for sweater-weather. Geez - it's almost October, for cryin' out loud! Could we get a little FALL here? I know, I know - bitch, whine and moan. It's the waiting, it makes me irritable... I will have to call the insurance company again today, since I haven't heard a word. :/

Well, I don't have a band yet - but I have been researching on the boards for a while, now. I haven't ever heard of this happening... Maybe some of the veterans can chime in? Or one of the docs?

If you get REALLY small, you can add the loops/cord to the sides and lace it up on both sides and in the back for that "bustle" effect. Flat over the tummy with lots of gather in the back... Of course, you have all year to think about it, now. Good luck on opening - and send pictures! :]

Chew & Spit - is that like "I didn't inhale"? lol

Look at Kare's post "A Confession" in the support forum. It deals with the same issues. :]

Yep, once you have by-pass, you can never change your mind... Welcome to LBT!

Howdy! Welcome!

Onederland is but a far off dream for me... Great for you!! Enjoy!

Maybe fluctuation in the calorie level is the secret answer of the ages!! I say, whatever works! Go Crystal! Go!! :]

There are lots of places around that are perfectly safe - but the power is out. I would hazard a guess that Paula & her family are absolutely fine - just not connected to a powersource or the internet. Rita was tough - but nothing like that *&%T$ Katrina.

FitRX.com has tons of Protein stuff. Drugstore.com has stuff that FitRX doesn't have - but shop FitRX first, since the prices are about a 3rd of the cost at drugstore.com. I like Ultramet. If you blend it with just a little bit less liquid and refridgerate overnight, it gets a consistency like pudding... and the flavor isn't bad. I mix my Breakfast up the night before. Last night, I mixed apple juice, vanilla Ultramet, Cinnamon, Nutmeg & just a tiny hit of Ginger + vanilla extract and a little sweetener to offset the spices. This morning I had something that tasted like apple pie pudding. Atkins and Carb Solutions are good, too. :]

"Special" in a good way, Eileen - but if we aren't a pack of misfits, I don't know who is... The Krelboynes are the geeks, the nerds, the smart kids. I think that works for us in some ways.... I claim my geekiness with pride... :]

Ah the subconscious mind of a food lover is a devious thing... you know that after your first fill you may no longer be able to eat pizza and cinamon rolls - so you are just having a little fling before "the end". It's ok. When you can no longer eat pizza and cinamon rolls, you will be able to look back fondly upon that last one that you ate... And SERIOUSLY - a small VEGGIE pizza? HALF a cinamon roll? Cast your mind back to another time, a pre-band time, and think about what you would have eaten then. You gals are fine. No worries. Get your fills and move on. :]
