About me (11months post op)----with photos
dark n lovely replied to jenjo11072013's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Honey, u look awesome. U should be so proud of yourself. Have u talked to your NUT to see if you change up your diet will it help jump start a little more weght loss? I was informed u can lose weight up to three years, it just will slow down. U shouldn't beat yourself up and stop comparing yourself to others. I truly understand how u are feeling. I was 398lbs at my heaviest. I lost 120lbs on my own. I always saw me being 398 when i looked in the mirror. That was because my mind had accept the fact i would probably always be the size so i couldn't see me being anything else. This wasnt is still isnt health thinking for you are myself. You are a strong woman otherwise you wouldn't have made it as far as you have on your journey. This is a lifetime change of lifestyle, so u still are living and will continue to make changes???? good luck my friend! -
On this journey at almost 70

Thank u. My goal weght is 170lbs. Im 5'8". But my dr informed me that I will be smaller than that. He is estimating me to be around 140lbs at the rate I'm going. Yes, this has been life changing, along with everything else I have encountered, health wise, in my life. As for my diabetes and blood pressure, my medication is on hold. My numbers has dropped for both illiness and are being monitored. My dr warned me before the surgery that most people do get off their meds due to the weight lost and the changes within the body. When I lost 170lbs on my own, my insulin intake went from 3 injections a day to only 1, then to a sliding scale, then no longer need regular insulin at all. I was only using nph once a day, now nothing. I can honestly say I feel better being off of some of the 20 different medications I had to take daily ???? I hope you will be able to do the same as a result of your weight loss. Good luck..... -

dark n lovely replied to gwunderle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry i need to correct one of the names of the protein shakes i take, its new for me so i made a mistake in the name. It is not "New Prtein" but "New Whey". I ot the variety pack off line for 23.99 each bottle has 42gms of protein. -

Pre-op protein drinks/food

Lost is correct. There is so many different protein shakes but what you may like now you may not like after the surgery. I had that problem after my surgery. I would vomit after drinking my morning protein and wasn't getting the recommended amount of protein i needed. I now drink Isopure clear that is 30mg of protein per serving. Also "New Protein ", that is 47grams of protein per serving. Good luck on your journey. Im sure you will do well???? -
I'm from Los Angeles, California

Hello, @lost. Congrats on your journey. This process is different for everyone as i read most post. I had to do classes for 3months one day a week. See a cardiologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, have a swallow evaluation, run several blood test, also a stool specimen amoung other things before i had my surgery 2months ago. I am also a diabetic. I was weak at times during my clear liquid diet. I ate regular yogurt, jello, and popsicle a few times a day whenever my sugar started to get to low. But the protein shake that you should be drinking also should help. This surgery changes the need for the amount of insulin, if u are on insulin, you will need. I, myself no longer need insulin. Just remember to follow your dr and nut instructions. You will do well. I lost 44lbs in 7weeks. Started 239 August 5th,2015. 229August 12th day of surgery, now i am 195lbs????

You go!! You look beautiful???? I am 42 with several medical issues myself. Asthma, sickle cell, diabetic, high blood pressure, end stage kidney disease, and i am legally blind. I am 8 weeks post-op from my gastric bypass. I had no pain, went home the next day, and lost 44lbs in 7 weeks. My doctor felt i lost too much to fast and put me on a regular diet. I still can not eat the amount of food the dr and nut is asking for. I only take in about 400cal. I continue to drink my protein shakes. At my heaviest i was 398lbs. August 5th 2014 i was 239, surgery August 12th 2014 i was 229, today October 13th 2014, i am 195lbs. I cant remember being this small any time in my adult life.???? Congrats on your decision to lose the weight, no matter at what age you may be.....you look GREAT!! -

Losing 34lbs is something to celebrate. Someone gave me good advance, stop weighing yourself. Just continue to work on your eating habits, exercise, stay positive, and watch your clothes become bigger and bigger on you...lol I understand how you feel but you will stress yourself and get discouraged if you put too much into keeping up with how many pounds. You are on the path you have been waiting for, enjoy the journey sweetie. You will be just fine????

Lol.....i said the same thing. U sip on wine not everything else...lol but this prevents you from stretching your pouch. It gets easier as time goes by....

My program says no steak for a year. Wow! I am 8weeks post o and still only eats chicken tenders bot breast because they are more tender. I can eat ground turkey also. My friend gave me a recipe for spaghetti squash, love it. The squash replaced the pasta. I find myself not being to hungry. Im only taking in 400cals daily so i really need the shakes.. lol -

U both would be surprised at how those same ppl who will give you negative feedback about your surgical decision is those same ppl who secretly wish they were having the same opportunity. Lol... Don't let anyone rain on our sun shining day! You are doing this for YOU! And that's that.....stay strong and positive. Good luck to both you ladies on your up coming surgery???? -

My friends and family noticed my weight loss before i did...lol I had been the big girl for so ong i always saw that image whenever i looked in the mirror. But wut is strange now is my Bestfriend talked about how she could never have this type of surgery and she is happy with her size. Well now im smaller than her she is making up every excuse to explain why she is now trying to start the program, Wow!!! I really dont know how i should feel about this but as of now it truly doesnt sit right with me???? i believe the only reason she is going to great lengths is because she doesn't want me to look better than her (In her eyes). That's crazy. We have been friends for almost 30yrs....im just a little unsettled about it all! -

Always listen to your dr and Nut. Everyone is unique in their own way. Try to remember your body is going through major changes, inside and out. I am 8weeks out....went in at 239lbs now 195lbs. My dr put me on a regular diet already because he feel i am losing too much weight to fast. Go figure, here it is that im feeling its not enough but i have to remember if u follow the program u can lose weight up to three years. It is healthier if u lose steadily. Be patient. Be strong and good luck! -
I understand how u feel. I was also down on myself about not losing as much weight as i did in the first two weeks. After talking to others and my doctor i also learned this will happen throughout this process. I've jst worked so hard to receive this surgery i dont want to do anything wrong. Sometimes im afraid i will wake up and all of the weight will be back...lol i know, silly me! I was always the biggest girl in my circle of friends. At my heaviest i weighed 398lbs @ 5'8". I lost 120lbs on my own. Kept it off for years. Then i put back on a little not noticing because when i looked in the mirror i always saw me @ 400lbs. Then i lost again on my own....down to 240lbs but i become legally blind. I can no longer lift, carry, pull,or push anything over 10lbs for the rest of my life. This is to prevent me from going totally blind. To top everything else i later learn i need a kidney transplant. Well u have to be a certain weight to qualify. With all my medical issues my team of docs approved the bypass surgery. I went into surgery at 239lbs and now 195lbs in just 8weeks. Loving the look but ecstatic about being placed on the donors list!!????
