Dr.Vincent Polite LCMFT got a reaction from mocha for a blog entry, Down To 220!
Well I'm meting away according to my family and friends, but that's a good thing. I,m still trying to readjust to eating solids but them seem to get right in the middle of my chest. Also having problems with learning how to swallow correctly as my stomach is not big or deep any more so this is a new feeling and i have to get used to it. Planning on heading to Clearwater beach this weekend to hang with the wife and family. I hope all the new sleevers are taking it easy and being patient.

    God Bless!
P.S. I am creating a website www.fiftynotfat.com, where the goal is to help those who are 50 and over learn how to get in shape, eat right and get health, so I'm looking for people who write, give advice on health, lifestyle and fitness.

Let me say to every who is think about having this surgery DO IT!
Man each day is just getting better and better. Many people choose to undergo this surgery as a means to improve health not looks. If your suffering from sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure or other obesity related illness, this is the reset button!
i'm 3 weeks post op and no longer need my CPAP, blood pressure 120/80, Blood suger 128. The day I got home I walked one mile and have increase that until now i'm riding six mile on my bike. Also waiting for clearance to lift weights.

Now the downside: I was not aware that I was not to eat more than 1oz, so of course i was trying to eat the allowed 4oz, I figured out that will not happen right now. I think it was a mind thing because I am almost never hungry. Still working on the fluid increase i was able to drink 80 for a couple of days but, that started reflux, so if any one has any ideas on dealing with that let me know. My reflux shows up about 5 to 6am every morning for the last week and a half.

The fact that i can get out and be active again is so cool! I'm down to 225, but my focus is to get physically fit again. So I hope for those how have doubts that we on the forum, can give you the info you need to make a educated choice. this is a tool not a miracle cure for obesity, so if you can start approaching food and exercise with the right attitude you will be well on your way to being healthy.

Dr.Vincent Polite LCMFT got a reaction from Jack Fabulous for a blog entry, Ok,,,,,,, One Week Post Op
Well....... I've made it! The 1st week is the one I feared the most, because you don't know what to expect, but over all its been good. I feel like I shaould have done this years ago and i already feel much healthier. Dr kim told me so many people promise that they will follow the diet, but some fail..... well I refused to be one of the failures. I 'v waited too long to feel better, bend over with out hurting and being able to sleep a full night. I find sleep very different than it's been for the last 5 years with sleep apnea. When i first came home I noticed that each morning i would have to burp for about 30 minutes after i was out of bed. I realized that during sleep i was swallowing air from the CPAP, so I will have to get that adjusted or I may not need it anymore.

Dr.Vincent Polite LCMFT got a reaction from mocha for a blog entry, Home- The Aftermath....
My surgery took place on March 16, 2012 in Celebration Florida and was done by Dr. Keith Kim, a very good surgeon in this field. I have done research for about 4 years on the subject and talked with countless people about the surgery and those who have had the procedure done. The most surprising thing that I learned was that most people view WLS as a negative cheating way to lose weight, but the majority with that viewpoint were often uninformed or just ignorant to the whole weight loss process. As I sit here 3 days post-op and can feel my body returning to the size it was meant to be I can say that much of my concern is not centered on getting in shape. As a former Army recon scout I was really ashamed of how I let myself become out of shape and lacked the self discipline to eat right and stay in shape but I vowed to not be over 50 and fat……. And so begins my first steps.
