How long before the GAS Stops post-op?
Motocrossgirly replied to Motocrossgirly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone who is replying! Kacee your stats are amazing!! :-) -
Hi, Here is what Atlanta Bariatrics has you do... 1 day pre-op - clear liquid day of surgery - clear liquid next 7 days - liquid diet which consists of 3 unjury Protein shakes a day & 1 liquid snack such as Jello pudding, yogurt, popsicle, broth. Also you are to consume 24 oz of other liquids in the day - Water, juice, etc. next 21 days - mushy food diet. 3 meals a day, no snacking. oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat, eggs, moist chicken or turkey, well cooked vegetables & cream Soups, cottage cheese, yogurt, tuna, etc. After this you resume a full diet as toletated.. My first fill is scheduled for January 14, 2008... I am telling you I can't wait for mushy food. I am so sick of Protein Shakes I could vomit! They taste good & all, I am just sick of them.. I like a little variety.

Loud stomach gurgling and diahrrea, is it normal?
Motocrossgirly replied to divaofsongs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I was banded 12/13/07 also and have had the same symptoms.. I attribute the diarrhea to all of the anesthesia & liquid pre-op diet... The gurgliing I think is gas & Fluid for diarrhea... Everyday I get better.. Except for the GAS I am doing great! -
band cut my stomach open too tight
Motocrossgirly replied to TryingHard's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I am so sorry, this has happened. I know it all seems so overwhelming right now.. Try to take a deep breath and focus on it step by step... I know you came on here for more info, but maybe you would find better info if you did a google search on Lap Band complications or Lap Band Erosion complications. You may stumble across some medical paper write ups that could guid you with more info then we have... Hang in there. You are in my thoughts & prayers. You didn't deserve this at all. Life has a crappy way of inserting itself into our plans.... -
Hi Fellow December Bandsters! I am officially in band land. Got my band yesterday & feeling GREAT! They also fixed my hiatal hernia.. I am so happy! I am already loving my band and having minimal pain & minimal gas!! I am taking my gas x strips though... I hope any of you yet to be banded can take comfort in the fact it was soooo much easier than I thought it would be... YEAH!! I have a band!! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! Best Xmas present ever!

pre-op sore throat - will they cancel me?
Motocrossgirly replied to krisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I know I got to the hospital for my surgery on 11/26/07 and had junky lungs from an upper respiratory infection & they sent me home. My new surgery date is 12/13. Not sure about a sore throat... Are you lungs clear? I assume a cold is starting? I would OD on airborne & hope for the best....Good luck, I know I was devastated when they sent me home. -
Hi, I am originally from Canyon Lake, California. But have been in Lilburn, Georgia for 3.5 years now.... so Lilburn, GA.

Hi Lulu, Thanks for sharing your struggles... I was fat, then thin (HOT & SINGLE), and then after keeping it off for 6 years, got fat again... My real friends have loved me fat or thin and are supporting me on the road to being thin again... I do know the type of people you are describing & generally find them to be too self involved to ever be a good friend to anyone..... My advice (feel free not to take it, as each of us has our own happiness & truth); but, my unsolicited advice is to try to make some meaningful friends ones that you could be yourself with and call in your darkest moment. It isn't easy and usually takes time & a lot of effort, but if you become the type of friend you want in a friend you will be succesful over time. Good luck, my advice is to stay away from critical unsupporting environments during the holidays which can be challenging on their own... Tiffany

Carol, I am so sorry you had to deal with this!!! I went in for surgery on 11/26/07 to have it canceled because I had gotten a respiratory infection and my lungs sounded junky.. Not the same as your situation, since they rescheduled mine for 12/13/07; but, I did have some of the same emotions you did.... Nurses not understanding why I was upset, jealous seeing other patients being wheeled away.. Angry, that I had done the diet & other pre-op prep to come away with a big fat NADA...Embarassment explaining to family & friends, that no they sent me home.. etc.. I am so very sorry!! I am so very proud of you for your attitude.. Try to keep your eye on the prize & let us know if we can help u.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I was so upset I couldn't even come to this site for a few days....I thought I was the only one & that makes it always feel worse. Thanks for letting me know, I am not alone! :biggrin1:
-
Hi, can you add me to the list for 12/13/07? My original date was 11/26/07 & got canceled after I got to the hospital, because I was fighting a upper respiratory infection & my lungs sounded cruddy!! I went home & cried the whole day.... My new date is 12/13/07

Deathly afraid of death!
Motocrossgirly replied to SarahT1982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way... So strange, because I have had lots of surgery before. For some reason I guess I feel like this one is somewhat voluntary and think because of that something will go wrong??? It is really scray. I hate this feeling! -
insurance stories
Motocrossgirly replied to tonyisstillhere's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I think that may be too good to be true with UHC. I have United Health Care POS Select and had to have a BMI greater than 40 with no co-morbidities. My BMI is 43, so I was approved for the surgery; but, when I read my health plan summarry document from my hubbys work it definitely said BMI higher than 40. My advice is to request a copy of the Health Plan Summary Doc that your employer should be able to get you, before you change insurances make sure you check it out carefully. Best of luck! -
Hi Everyone! I am in Lilburn GA & scheduled for surgery with Dr. Johnson & Atlanta Bariatrics on Monday, November 26, 2007... Look forward to getting to know all of you better!

Motocrossgirly replied to nymoosic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I just wanted to say that you posted what I have been thinking to a Tee. I am even more complicated by the fact, I have lost 110 lbs before & kept it off for 5 years to have it come back on...So, I have really been struggling with needing a surgical option to help me. I am really feeling as though, I am a great weight loser! I just can't keep it off. This is that tool, I have been looking for my whole life... This is right for us. It is safe & there are tons of people on these boards that are a living testament to its success... Hang in there! I set my surgery date tomorrow so the countdown is on! Tiffany -
Hi, I never wrote a letter explaining the missing year (it was related to a move from CA to GA); but, instead I provided an additional previous year, ex.. instead of 2002 through 2007 I did 2001, 2002, 2003, skip 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007.

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Motocrossgirly replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, my surgeons office only requires a diet for those folks over a certain BMI threshold. I was under that threshold at a BMI of 43, so no pre-op diet for me. -
Hi, It was 10 days from submission to approval, another 7 days to actually receive the letter in the mail. :-)

Finally, A Surgery Date!!
Motocrossgirly replied to Sandy63's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sandy! I too am in Georgia & having my surgery done by Dr. Johnson with Atlanta Bariatrics in Johns Creek. I see Dr. Johnson on Friday, so should be able to set my surgery date then. Let me know how you progress.. Tiffany -
Hi, I have essentially a very similar history & I submitted to United Health Care POS and I was approved! I haven't set my surgery date, but will do that on Friday 11-9-07! YEAH!
-
Hi Everyone, I have been lurking too long! Sorry, but I have really learned a lot over the past 2 months, as I waited for my case to be submitted for insurance approval. Yesterday, November 1, 2007 I was approved by UHC POS!! :whoo: Next stop, will be surgery with Dr. Johson & Atlanta Bariatrics... Thanks for allowing me to lurk, I hope to get to know more of you better!
