Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I am still having pain. I had my post-op appointment on Friday and they took out about half of the staples. They left 14 staples in the large incision and I get those out this Friday. Whenever I stand up, I feel this burning pulling feeling in my lower abdomen, mostly around my belly button. It helps a little if I hold my stomach up, but it still hurts. It is so frustrating reading how well people are doing just a week out and I am struggling just to walk or stand for any period of time. At my post-op appointment they said considering how extensive my surgery was, I am doing well. I just feel like my recovery is going so slow and I feel like I should be further along than I am. I am now 13 days post-op. I hope everyone else is doing well. Kim

Hi everyone. I'm on my way to my follow up appointment with my surgeon. Hopefully they will take out some of the staples today! I would be surprised if they took them all out because the large incision was bleeding on Wednesday. I still can't believe how many staples there are. Oh well, wish me luck! I hope everyone has a pain free and healing day! xoxo Kim

I'm doing ok with getting my fluids and protein in. I'm still having issues with pain. The surgery ended up being open instead of laparoscopic, so not only do I have the 6 little incisions from where they started the surgery laparoscopic, I also have a large 6-8 inch going from above my belly button straight down. No fun at all. -
Oh no @@Bronxmerci! Do they know what is going on? Sending healing thoughts and hugs!

@@Luna222 That is exactly how I feel today. It was my first day alone since surgery (my surgery was 10/29) and just feel so alone today. I can cry at the drop of a hat. It sounds so stupid, but I want more attention. Even typing it it sounds stupid. It's not like I want everyone to shower me with attention, but maybe I want my family and friends to check on me more often? I don't know. I think the pain meds have me feeling more emotional along with having major surgery. Maybe I just need to go to sleep. Lol...

Oh yes @@MisforMimi I am cutting that thing up! I never want to wear plus sized clothes again! Ever again!

@@Beni one thing I am looking forward to is cutting up my Lane Bryant credit card and replacing it with a Victoria Secret card. . Here are some more: 2. Wearing a Halloween costume without feeling like a stuffed sausage. 3. Spending a day at Disney (I live in Florida) without my feet and legs being in so much pain I can barely walk for days after. 4. Wearing a bikini! Not sure about that one though since my stomach looks like it has been butchered. 5. Rocking that sexy little black dress and heels.

@@layknee I'm not sure what the name of that med is. I am still waiting for them to call the RX in for me. I have been really good with my pain meds. Every 4 hours. Plus it is helping me sleep, so I'm getting that rest.

Good morning everyone. Great news today...I pooped!! I was so excited I called my husband at work. I took MiraLax this morning and ta da! I never thought I would ever be so excited for passing gas or pooping. Still having pain around the large incision. I looked at it in the mirror this morning and my stomach is so bruised. Especially around the big incision. Looks like I got into a fight with Rocky. I am taking my pain meds as prescribed and getting lots of rest. I'm just ready to start feeling normal again. Day by day!

My surgery was Wednesday, 10/28. The big incision is no fun. My stomach looks like it got all hacked up.

So, the surgeons office called to check on me. They said they will be calling a prescription in for some medicine to protect my stomach. I don't remember the name of it. She also wants me to get some MiraLax because I haven't pooped yet. She said it should have happened by now. My big incision is hurting pretty bad tonight. I'm trying to go longer than 3 1/2 to 4 hours between my Lortab. Ugh...

Good luck @@amylynns! Please keep us updated.

Hi everyone. I started my full liquid diet today. I'm still having quite a bit of pain, which is getting old. Thank goodness for the Lortab. I just want to feel like myself again. I removed the bandages from my stomach yesterday and it was worse than I thought. I have 6 small incisions across the top of my stomach where they tried to do the surgery laparoscopic and then I have a 6 to 8 inch incision starting above my belly button going straight down. I have so many staples, I can't even count them. It is not very pretty at all. I am having those 'What the hell did I do to myself' thoughts. I know it will pass and everything will get better, but it just sucks right now. I am doing well drinking my liquids. I had my first Protein Drink this morning and it took me an hour to drink it down. I am still not feeling any hunger at all, which is so strange! But the smell of any food makes me nauseous. Whenever my husband eats, I make him leave the room. Well, I wanted to check in. I hope everyone is doing well! xoxo Kim

Doing ok. Still in hospital. Sounds like I will be able to go home tonight. I'm still in a lot of pain. The surgeon started the surgery laporscopic, but ended up having to open me up because of scar tissue from previous surgeries. So I have 5 little incisions across the top of my stomach and then a big one from my belly button down. That one is about 6 inches. I am doing well on the clear liquid diet, but I a so ready for this pain to get better. I am only lasting about 3 1/2 hours with pain meds. Then they seem to get out of my system very quickly.

Still in Hospital. I may go home today. We will see. Still in a lot of pain. I can only go about 3 hours between pain meds. One good news though... I passed gas today! Never thought I would be so excited! Just typing this wears me out. Going to rest now. I will check in later.

I'm still in the hospital. They ended up having to do my surgery open, so it looks like I have to stay here a couple extra days. I'm still in quite a bit of pain. No fun at all. I am able to drink 1 ounce of water every hour.

I made it! The surgeon was able to do laparoscopic at the top of my stomach but also ended up having to open me up from my belly button down where I had my hysterectomy because of scar tissue. I think I remember them telling me last night that they cleaned up the scar tissue. I am in a bit of pain and coughing hurts like hell. My stomach feels like I did a million sit-ups. I'm supposed to get my cath out by 6am so I can start walking. I will check in again later...just pushed my happy button so getting sleepy.
