My stomach feels so yucky. I'm 3 weeks out today and everything I eat turns my stomach. I have zero appetite and am only getting about 200 calories a day. Now I'm struggling to get my Vitamins as well. Every time I eat I get a cramp in my stomach, sharp pains and tons of noise in my bowels. I feel sick after I eat and it gives me zero pleasure. But if I don't eat at all, I feel sick also. Anyone have experience with this? I'm not sure what to do and I am having trouble even getting Water down.

Stomach ache and can't eat
bellabloom replied to bellabloom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dj I think your right but it's so hard. I don't feel weak, just gross and nauseated. I'm really working on the Water, I'm only getting about 3 cups a day and it's concerning. I am going to go back to just shakes for awhile. I can tolerate any more eggs and everything else is awful too. I gave myself a Vitamin break this week for one day and I've been getting the rest of them except the Multivitamin. It tastes so awful I need to order another kind. This is harder then I thought. The idea of eating until I puke is not one I want to go with! I can deal with the lack of food, it's the nausea that's really terrible and forcing myself to eat. The taste of things seems really off as well. Nothing appeals. -
Divorce after plastic surgery and/or bariatric surgery
bellabloom replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Steve I really like what you said here. Everyone has to get there in their own time, if ever. Weight loss isn't for everyone. Some people are perfectly happy being overweight. Others just aren't ready. Some friends will go out of jealousy and others will have marriages fail because they lose their common interests. It's a major change in life. My sister is a health nut and tries to push it on everyone constantly. It makes people dislike her and I don't blame them!!! Marriages are even more intimate. Many partners fear their loved one being happier because they feel they will leave if they feel good enough. Relationships are complex. I agree with you that this is a personal decision. Discussing weight loss should be a faux paux if not asked directly. I try not to discuss weight, food, or weightless with others without prompting. Just like religion, politics, and abortion are private beliefs and not dinner table conversation, a persons choices about their health are their own. When is was pre- surgery it would upset, embarrass and hurt me immensely when people insulated my weight was a problem or discussed their 140 pound body as being grossly fat. We need to think of others and empathize with them. And many overweight people are healthy and happy in their lives!! And we should all respect that. It's a personal decision and skinny, average and overweight body types have beautiful aspects. -

I'm in the same boat as you the the back issue. One struggle for me has been pain medications management since i had already been on pain meds for a year before surgery and have developed a tolerance. I'm now struggling to get off painkillers all together and finding it quite difficult as I still have some back pain and my body is just used to the dose. It hate those things and hopefully you don't have the same issue. My pain management slash back doctor wanted to give me shots in my spine. He tried to convince me that rny was a bad idea as he sped away in his corvette. Back doctors are not to be trusted and back surgery is a no win situation. No way in hell am I going to let someone stick a needle in my spinal cord before I try and lose weight. Also, two weeks out of surgery I have lost a huge amount of inflammation all over my body. I feel this was contributing to my pain and I feel so much better, you will too!! Let's keep in touch I want to see how your back does as you move along. Do you have insomnia baca use of back pain? Sadly this is one issue that hasn't gotten better for me yet but I'm only two weeks out. I used to be a stomach sleeper and I've never slept well on my side which I'm forced to do because of my belly. I look forward to being able to do this again! My issue is a herniated disk in my lower back which is most painful when I sit down. -

I don't get how every doctor is so different. I had rny on the 4th and all I'm allowed is soft liquids. ??? I have two more weeks still until I'm allowed fish or chicken. Waaaa. I'm jealous. -
My nutritionist said not to worry if you can't get it all in. It's something to shoot for but it takes time. It shouldn't be uncomfortable. In the beginning just 2 tblsp of liquid per hour is all I could do.

It's kind of strange your doctor won't let you go to your moms- is it a long drive? The first week I had terrible head hunger especially when watching tv. Honestly, I made some food a few times, chewed it up and spit it out. It helped me sooooo much. The urge to do this now has totally passed but it got me through the worst few days. It was like a pickle, a salami sandwich, a bite of hamburger meat. I made sure to spit it all out. I'm not suggesting you do this, I'm just saying it worked for me with the worst of the head hunger. I don't do it at all now. I watched so many movies. I rented them on Amazon and it kept me entertained. Here are some suggestions: Thrillers Tell no one The secret in their eyes The prestige The village Romantic The affair (on showtime) 50 first dates Never been kissed The phantom of the opera Tv The affair The killing The fall Orphan black Outlander!!! Take this time to rest and heal yourself. Write in a journal and call some old friends. Make a list of goals for the next year. Snuggle with yourself. Do a facial and do your nails, pluck your eyebrows. Take care of yourself. Go through your closet and get organized. Take before pictures and your measurements!! Go for short walks, breathe, enjoy. If you feel like talking I'm here for you.

I know me too!!!!!!!!! Sick of it all, just disgusted by food in general. All I can say is that for me, the craving for food I couldn't eat are much much less now. Mostly I just like water and coffee and tea. everything else is gross and don't even get me started on the vitamins !!

Hey cutee- congrats on your surgery date. I wanted to let you know, your most welcome on this thread but this is under gastric bypass surgery. You might find more knowledgable feedback on the sleeve forum because that is were all the sleeve people post. That said I'm not sure about sleeve recovery but I heard it's much less than the bypass! So that's great for you. I think the gas is the most painful part for everyone. So me people bounce right back while others take a few weeks, it varies so much. All I can say is prepare to have a couple restful weeks and hopefully you'll have a fast recovery. It's worth it!! Best of luck to you. -

Ouch mine hurt so much too!! I hope you feel better very soon. All I can say is it will pass in a few days, just hang in there!!!! -
I thought this surgery was going to change my life. Instead I feel worse than ever. I never even drank soda before this and now I guzzle it down all day long! Before surgery I stocked my cupboards with all the junk foods I wanted to eat as a last hurrah and I thought I would have no problem with it after the surgery! But the hurrah just keeps going! I ate an entire plate of cookie dough last night before bed. Now all I can do Is eat candy and burgers, go out dancing and have one night stands. I just found out I'm pregnant from the last one I had the week after surgery! I still had my stitches in and we got it on all night and snorted some #%##% and order room service - pancakes!!! I just stretch my pouch and then I throw it all up after to I can eat some more. It's crazy! And I never smoked before but since the first cigarette tasted so good and that nicotine buzz feels amazing, I just chain smoke now. I might even try some other drugs, I never knew they were so fun! I think the surgery did something to my brain. All I want to do is have sex and eat junk food, my husband doesn't even know. He thinks I'm at work! And now I'm pregnant and he has a vasectomy so boy am I in trouble. My favorite thing to do is lay in my hotel bed and dribble maple syrup into my mouth and post on bariatric pal about my fiendish bad girl behavior. Do you think the surgery changed my brain? Before this I was a straight laced schoolteacher with five kids and a pastors wife to boot! . Just kidding. Thought you all might need a laugh. I'm totally committed to my journey and all of us seem to be doing amazing, and I am very thankful tonight to have this great supportive board of people to talk to. Happy Thanksgiving.

One's Too Many and a Hundred Ain't Enough
bellabloom replied to mdnitschke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very true, I feel much the same. Eating was almost a habituated thing and it took a weeks or so for me to feel clear of those ties and habits. I used to be a sugar junkie and I do not find myself craving sweets at all. I seem to become tired of foods very quickly and just don't get the same pleasure from eating when I used to live to eat. This surgery is a blessing in many ways. It has helped me feel free! -
