May 5th surgery date for me. I am having lap band removed, and sleeve surgery performed. This Friday I start a 2 week liquid diet and also have to go to hospital, for blood work, urine test, and an ekg. I am nervous and excited
-
Congrats!!!!!!! How are you feeling??
-
Please keep me updated on how it goes

My doctor said more then likely I will have it done in one procedure. She said this, after she did my EDG. But I still got the warning that she would not know for sure until she is in there.

Thanks

Happy Easter to you as well. I will be sure to mention to my surgeon to look for scar tissue. Even with my band being empty, I still get horrible Port pain, if I sit or lay in one position to long, it burns and throbs. If I put my arm above my head it throbs, I can not do any kind of tummy exercises due to pain. If I bump it or touch it with my fingers, it's just pain pain pain.... how is your revision going? I am nervous but excited for mine:)

I don't see many things posted about Port sites, but I am curious to follow this thread. I am having my band removed and a sleeve done on May 5th, I have had the band for 2.5 years and have always had Port pain from day one....in the beginning it was written off as needing time to heal, to later on when I was told that it shouldn't hurt anymore.....like that made it all fricken better???!!!!! lol I am going to ask my doctor to pay extra special attention when removing the port to find out why this has always ached and hurt the whole time, and see if she comes up with a reason.

I got my approval and a surgery date of May 5th

Figured I would join the waiting group I started this part of my journey back in January. I am doing a revision from band to sleeve. I was banded 2.5 years ago, and never found that green zone. I did lose 80 pounds, but that was mainly due to being to tight and not being able to eat. My doctor wanted more tests then the insurance even required, so I have done the psych eval, sleep test, edg, echocardiogram, stress test, 2 nut classes, and blood work. My insurance already sent me my approval letter, so no more nut classes, thought for sure they would make me do 6, so now I just need to wait for the results on the echo, and stress test, then I should be good to schedule surgery. I had to have all my fluid removed for the EDG, so now I am gaining pretty steadily, some weight from bad choices but mainly just because I can now eat without throwing up or choking. Hoping everyone gets approval and scheduled soon:)

How/When were you able to follow the rules?
MamaRita replied to Butterfly512's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't do so well on the slow small bites or the drinking with meals, but as my fills continued, I learned the hard way of why these rules are encouraged early on!!!! I am currently at 10.9 in a 14cc band. I don't know why you can't drink with meals, but I can say that i physically can not do so, it makes my food come back up. Same thing happens with bigger bites. Like I said I learned the hard way lol. Also certain foods bother me, for example water Mellon will not go down no matter how small the bite, and every time I eat a tomato, the tomato skin never stays down. It's so weird because I can eat all meats ect, as long as I follow the rules, I also can't eat bread but can still tolerate cheese enchiladas in very small bites, I can also handle rice. My current favorite meal is a bowl from chipotle. I get both kinds of rice, both kinds of beans and either Barbacoa or chicken, lettuce cheese sour cream and guacamole. I only eat a third of it and save the rest for dinner and lunch the next day:) -
Mine is fluids same day as fill, and soft the next, then back to normal

Just Curious about cc you were at for green zone.
MamaRita replied to tootyoyo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had surgery last Oct, the gal that does my fills is amazing, and always works with me and let's me help decide how much I want added. I currently have 10.5 cc in a 14 cc band, my first couple of fills were aggressive, like 3 to 4 cc, after that some were at 1 to 2 cc, then towards the end, it was in .2 to .4 cc but she had me coming back every 2 to 3 weeks instead of waiting a month. There was a time or two we didn't add any because I was in the green, she explained to me as I drop weight, the band can get looser which requires fine tuning of small amounts, last month I was up to 10.9 cc and was perfect at that amount for 3 weeks, then I went to Vegas, and all the wind kicked up my allergies and overnight I was in the red, every sip of water I took, felt like someone was sneezing my stomach in a knot, and it was so painful, luckily their was a lapband place 5 miles from my hotel, and the two offices worked together so I could get some fluid removed, the lady there took out 1 cc, and it was instant relief. 4 days later I had an apt with my normal office and allergies stopped as soon as I left Vegas, so she put.6 cc of it back in and this was a week ago. I still need a little more, but in total from start of surgery, I am down 52 pounds:) it sucks till you actually feel it working but keep at it, it's all worth it when you hit that green zone:) -
Was banded in October, I have a 14 cc lapband. I'm on vacation in Vegas, and for the last two days, all I can do is sip water, I did call my doctors office yesterday, and they said to stay on clear fluids, and when I get home on Friday, to go in and have fluid removed if I was still having a problem. They also said if I got worse, I could go to an er and have fluids put in. My nose is super stuffy, not sure if I'm getting sick or the smoke from casinos. My last fill was almost 4 weeks ago, and I have had no problems till now, does anyone know a doctor here in Vegas that could possibly remove some fluid???? I'm miserable, I can't eat, can't drink, and even water hurts to get down:(

Not understanding these LAP-Band fills......
MamaRita replied to MamaRita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never had a problem keeping liquids down, even when I felt tight, I'd call your Drs office and see what they say:) keep us informed -
At 4 weeks post op I had first fill. I learned I had 2.5 put in at surgery time. I have a 14 band. She did an aggressive fill and added 4 for a total of 6.5, two weeks later with no restriction, she added another 1.5 for a total of 8, two weeks later with no restriction, she added 1 for a total of 9......... So now I'm feeling something.... First few bites of anything feels like a lump that goes up and down up and down for a few minutes, not seriously painful but definitely not comfortable.... I still don't notice being satisfied with smaller portions yet, so no weightloss yet, is is possible to feel what I described, and still be in the yellow?

Not understanding these LAP-Band fills......
MamaRita replied to MamaRita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Makes me feel better knowing the fills can change after a week, and I will concentrate more on chewing as well:) also I weighed this morning, which I haven't done in a week, due to fear of what it might say, sense I claim I don't notice this band, and to my surprise I was down 4 pounds, so maybe it's working more then I realize -
Not understanding these LAP-Band fills......
MamaRita replied to MamaRita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm reading, and I understand it's a tool, but i need this tool to activate:/ just because I dont feel restriction, doesn't mean I eat whatever I want whenever I want, it just means I'm struggling being good:( I had such great restriction for about a week after last fill, then it was gone, I find that to be odd -

Where is your port?
MamaRita replied to MattLAustin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 incisions, 3 small and one larger, my port is at the larger one. During recovery, that one hurt the most, and it took about 4 weeks before it wouldn't hurt. Even now occasionally I will have port pain???? -

Sepsis 1 week after surgery, lap band removed
MamaRita replied to Keshajo1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't even imagine what you must be feeling right now:( did they say what the next steps are if any? Like after you heal, can they put another one in? Or what caused the infection? I am praying for a speedy recovery for you, and a positive outcome down the road:(
