    Holiday Challenge!

174 today. Only three more pounds to go and I will have lost 100 pounds. So excited.
  2. I am not at my goal weight yet. However, I have lost 95 pounds so far. One thing that I am enjoying wearing that I never wore before is heels and wedges. I am having fun rocking my sexy new shoes. Also, I have been buying shirts that are more fitted through the waist. Even brought a jacket that is belted at the waist. I actually have a waist now!!!

Sorry I didn't have time to post yesterday: Starting challenge weight- 185 Week 1 weight- 181 Lost 4 pounds!!!
  7. Good for you taking the steps to a healthier future. You are going to be so happy you made this decision. It is a wonderful tool. I started out at 271 pre surgery and after four and a half months I now weigh 185. I had a fatty liver too and it's now gone, my cholesterol is now normal and I feel great. I can walk for miles again!! Good luck to you and your success; you can do it!!!
  8. I didn't really like to cook before my surgery. I cooked for my family, but it wasn't one of my favorite things to do. I almost never baked. Post surgery I love to cook. I also love to bake for others. I think since I can't eat things with high carbs and fat I enjoy watching other people eat them. My entire family is normal weight and can eat anything without gaining weight. When I cook their meals I make sure I have some type of lean protein for myself, but enjoy cooking all their favorites. Every once in awhile I wish I could have a helping of Mac and cheese, noodles, bread, etc. but it passes quickly. I am 4 1/2 months post op.

Mine is just one big hiccup- then I know I am completely full. It's so funny. I developed this at about three months out.

    Hospital

I took a small travel pillow that I used to hold against my stomach when I walked or coughed and that helped the pain. I had soft cotton gowns and soft cotton underwear that I used. However, my lifesaver was I took a bottle of Biotene mouthwash and I used that frequently as my mouth was super dry. Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, body spray, and a little bit of makeup. I even had a bottle of nail polish and I painted my nails as soon as I got back to my room. They wouldn't let me wear nail polish to surgery. I guess that's considered overpacking but I used everything. I also am the nursing administrator at the hospital that I had it done at, so I had tons of visitors and wanted to look my best. That being said... The pillow and the mouthwash were essential to me. Some people swear by the gas X strips so you might want to take some. I had them, but was blessed with NO gas pains. Make sure you are up and walking as soon as possible. Good luck!!

what to take to the hospital?

Two things I was glad I had was Biotene mouthwash and a small soft travel pillow. After surgery my mouth was so dry and the mouthwash was a lifesaver. It's a mouth moisturizing mouthwash. Also, the small pillow was so helpful to brace against my stomach, it made walking so much easier. Matter of fact I used that pillow at home for the first week or so.

    Taste for water changed?

I was a huge water drinker before surgery. Now at three and half months post op I still can't tolerate more than a few sips of plain water. I drink a lot of vitamin water zero, sobe water diluted with plain water. I think I miss plain water more than junk food.

plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

RJ I am so sorry that this happened to you. I know that after years of getting judged for being overweight, the last thing you need after all your hard work and success is a judgmental attitude from a plastic surgeon. Also, this is the perfect place to vent your feelings. I just want you to know that regardless of that jerks behavior you are such a positive inspiration to everyone on this forum. Your great advice and positive attitude is awesome and appreciated. So, if you need to vent your sorrow and frustrations you are more than entitled. I am a little over three months post op myself and while I have lurked daily on this forum I have never joined or commented on anything. I joined tonight because I wanted to tell you that the night before my surgery I was so nervous and thinking about canceling it. However, it was in reading your story and journey that gave me the courage and faith to go through with it. So I thank you for that!! I am sending hugs and good wishes your way. Embrace your fabulousness and know that you are an inspiration to so many!!
