So far, at six months post op, the only thing I miss is being able to chug down a whole bottle of water quickly. Now it's sips and my new sleeve doesn't like plain water. I miss plain water.

How many times a week or month do you weigh yourself?
glitter eyes replied to gamecockfan864's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only weigh once a week. Hang in there your weight will come off. -
When does it get better?
glitter eyes replied to lizzie_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, it gets better. Don't feel alone- I was off work for a month and felt like I needed every bit of that time to heal. I even took naps every day. I looked at that time as my time to heal, learn to eat again, stay hydrated and walk. You got this!! -
When I juice; I too add mostly vegetables like kale, spinach, cucumbers, celery, with a few chucks of apple, carrots or beets for the flavor. The pulp that is leftover I never throw away but freeze and then add it to my homemade soups. I make sure I track the contents of my juice to make sure that I don't exceed my carbs for the day.

169 today. Only one pound down, but I will take it!!

Best way to lose weight?
glitter eyes replied to Yes_I_Can!'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think diet and weight loss is very individual to each person. What I did was track everything I ate, that way I could trend my daily calories, protein, & carbs.I began by not having any carbs just protein then I began adding in some carbs here and there around month 4-5. By tracking my food I was able to determine where I needed to keep my carb intake to keep losing weight. By the way- I have to eat extremely low carb. However, a friend of mine who was sleeved can eat plenty of carbs and lose weight fine if she keeps her calories down. I think it's a matter of finding what works for you. Good luck! -
Can someone help me out? Drinking water isn't easy...
glitter eyes replied to Anthony DeCastro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am six months post op and still can not tolerate plain water. It gives me pain too. I had to keep trying different things until I found something that worked for me. I now drink peach flavored propel- it goes down the easiest. Just hang in there and just keep trying different things. I also can drink Sobe water and vitamin water. Before surgery my favorite drink was plain water; sometimes I miss chugging down a big bottle of water!! -
I am very sensitive to carbs. I am six months out and if I want to lose weight each week I have to keep my carbs below15- 20 gm/day. I think that is on the low end. However,If I eat more than that I don't lose anything that week. I track everything on my fitness pal so I am able to see how my carbs/calories/protein intake affects my weight loss. I suggest tracking everything to determine what works best for you. Some people do better with low cal, some better with low carb.

Homemade Hair Masks
glitter eyes replied to blondiebabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your hair mask sounds wonderful. I will have to make some. In the past when I lost a lot of weight I had some hair loss and I began to use emu oil and emu oil shampoo and conditioner and that helped so much that people commented about how nice my hair was. I ordered mine from a company called emusing secrets, but I am sure any quality emu oil products would work. If my hair starts to fall out this time I am going to order some and start using it again. -
How about some NSVs!?!?
glitter eyes replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had multiple NSV's during this process. Some of favorites have been: 1. Crossing my legs again 2. Shopping in the "normal" section 3. Able to fit comfortably in a restaurant booth 4. Wearing heels/wedges 5. Having lots of energy 6. Working out without feeling out of breath or out of place 7. Walking all day at Disney and having tons of extra room on all the rides- going back next week and can't wait I am looking forward to many more and I love reading everyone's victories!! It is inspiring -
Today is the day! And I haven't slept!
glitter eyes replied to gettinghealthymom1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats and good luck!! -
I started out at 271 and I am only 5'3". It took forever for people, besides my family, to notice my weight loss. It was actually funny because people would say things like; I love your haircut, did you get new makeup, you look so pretty is that a new shirt..etc. I just smiled and said "Thanks", but inside I was thinking no, it's the sixty pound weight loss. I have lost 101 pounds so far and finally people notice. Some of my co-workers will say "you look like you have lost some weight and you look great". When I tell people it's 100 pounds everyone says that I didn't have that much to lose and they don't believe it. I just take it all as a compliment; either I hid my weight well (NO) or they are just unobservant. All that matters is I feel great and look forward to losing more and continuing to get fit. The people who are close to me notice my weight loss and are super supportive and are a blessing in my life.

My favorite treat to do at home to distract myself from eating or snacking in the evenings is to give myself a manicure/pedi. It is hard to snack when your nail polish is drying. I also do face masks in the evening too. This way my nails always look perfect and my skin benefits too!!

Count me in. My goal is 160. Current weight 170.

Hypothroidism, has it limited your weight loss with sleeve?
glitter eyes replied to uni2424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have hypothyroidism. I am six months out and have lost 101 pounds. I feel great. Prior to surgery I was on 250mcg of Synthroid, now I only take 137mcg. I think it is possible to be successful with this surgery and live with hypothyroidism. I make sure that I eat my protein first, then any veggies I want. I do not eat any sugar, bread, rice. I avoid carbs completely. I did splurge at the holidays and feasted on some sugary treats. Good luck to you on your surgery and weight loss. You can do it. -
170 today. Didn't make my goal weight of 165. However, I am down 101 pounds from my starting weight of 271 prior to surgery six months ago. I am loving my sleeve and the help it gives me. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Thanks Susan for your hard work.

173 this week. I gained two pounds after eating Christmas treats for two days. Overall I am pleased with just the two pounds gained. Before holiday eating would have completely derailed any healthy eating/diet plan and I would have continued to eat unhealthy and gain even more weight. Now after my weight loss surgery I know I can start today fresh and go back to my low carb high protein diet easily. I love my sleeve. Hoping next Friday I will have dropped these two pounds and will have lost another two.

Holiday meals - how do/did you handle it?
glitter eyes replied to VSG Davis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I decided to eat whatever I wanted on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I had homemade coconut cake, sugar cookie, sweet potato casserole squash casserole and ham. I also snacked off and on all day. It was yummy. However, today even with lots of leftovers hanging around I am going back to my normal low carb high protein way of eating. I love my sleeve because it helps me get right back on track. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and is enjoying the holiday season!!! -
Body Shapers ( Spanx)
glitter eyes replied to Homecie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wear a tank top by Maidenform self expressions. Ordered it from amazon. It is not to tight but smooths everything out nicely. I also like that it is long enough that it holds my tummy in and makes it appear a little smaller. It also doesn't ride up. I am 5'3" so that might be why it's long enough. It seems to run true to your shirt size. Also, they are a lot cheaper than spanx and I love the adjustable spaghetti straps. -
Had 6 month check-up today...
glitter eyes replied to Essence46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look wonderful!! -
171 this week. That makes a total of 100 pounds lost. I am so excited I was trying to make that 100 pound mark before Christmas and I did it!! I have to step up the exercise this week because I am going to eat a sugar cookie and a few bites of other goodies on Christmas Day. Hope you all have a happy, love filled Holiday!!
