    Amazing!! Congrats.

    Steak?

I love steak!! I just started eating it recently and I am 16 months post op. I tried it a few times earlier and it just didn't appeal to me. It didn't make me sick, but as soon as I would put it in my mouth and start to chew I would lose my taste for it. I have no problems with it now. Guess my taste buds just had to catch up.

    Soft food*Feeling full

I measured and weighed my food for probably the first six months. It's hard to determine the full feeling so I relied on measurements. Now I can estimate pretty accurately. I occasionally measure and or weigh just to make sure I am staying on track. Hope you enjoy your first soft foods!! I

    Trouble with water

Try adding some flavor drops to your water. I have never been able to tolerate plain water and I am almost 1 1/2 years post op. I drank propel and that worked best for me. Experiment with different things until you find your perfect fluid!! Congrats on your surgery

    Nothing taste good!

I think it is pretty normal. Food tasted nasty to me for about six months. I even had to brush my teeth and use mouthwash every time I ate something or drank a protein drink just to get the "food" taste out of my mouth. I regained my taste for food, not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing. LOL Good luck to you!

    Preop weightloss

Hang in there. The weight will come off. I had a two week pre op liquid diet and only lost four pounds. I had two friends who were getting their surgery very close to my date and they both lost 20+ pounds and they cheated. I just knew the surgery wouldn't work for me, but it did!! Your weight will come off eventually. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. You can do it!'

Carbs, Fats and/or Calories (oh my!)

@@SleevePerry congrats on your weight loss. You look fantastic!! It sounds like you are doing wonderful. Personally I don't worry to much about my overall calories. I mainly focus on keeping my carb count low and my protein high. I seemed to lose better on that combination. I also do not eat anything low fat. I eat regular fat cheese, sour cream, milk, etc. it's almost an experiment to see what my body liked the best. I did track everything religiously for the first year and now I track almost everyday, but sometimes skip a day. Good luck to you!

    Judged at the hospital

I would report the behavior to the hospital administration. If they don't know there is a problem, then they can't fix it. There is no reason for a medical professional to question a patients personal health decisions. The hospital I had mine done at has bariatric training for the staff working with the bariatric patients. There is even sensitivity training. I got very lucky when I had my surgery done- no nasty comments or bad care.... But then again I am one of the hospital administrators so they better not have!! Sorry this happened to you! By the way, congratulations on your surgery. Welcome to the losers bench .

    What has Highest protein content?

Premier protein shakes (ready to drink) have 30 grams and only 5 carbs. They are fairly tasty. You can purchase them at Sam's club and some people have found them at Walmart. They come in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. They are a good way to get a lot of protein in at this stage. You can also add unflavored protein powder to stuff like, soups, yogurt, etc. I think unjury has a protein chicken broth/soup. I never had it, but a lot of people hear swear by it. In the beginning it is very hard to get the protein in. Just take it slow and listen to your body. Staying hydrated is also very important at this stage. Congrats on your surgery!!! Good luck. Each day will get better.
  14. Sorry somehow the above post got posted in the wrong spot- I will blame it on sleepiness

    Reintroducing Caffeine

I quit caffeine about three months before my surgery. I am a year and half post op and never have reintroduced caffeine back into my diet. I haven't felt the need for any caffeine as I have more energy now than I had all those years I was overweight and chugging down my caffeine sodas. I work night shift and I do fine without the caffeine. Exercise gives me my energy. I go to the gym after work and even though I lose about an hour and half of sleep i feel energetic all night long- well energetic is a strong word; I can keep my eyes open all night long LOL.
  16. I think it gets harder the further out we all are. I know there are times I get hungry and I even have cravings for some junk food. I am in maintenance now so I give myself a little more freedom in having the occasional treat. However, it can be hard to rein in the bad eating. One thing that has worked for me is that if I find the cravings getting out of control then I do one or two days of liquid protein shakes only, then a few days of only high protein foods. That usually breaks the junk cravings for me! It is a balancing act to find out what works best for you!! Good luck you can beat those junk foods that are calling your name.
  17. I have had hypothyroidism for over 16 years. I had a very difficult time losing weight prior to weight loss surgery. I only lost 4 pounds on my two week liquid pre op diet and I never cheated. However, all that changed after my gastric sleeve. I went from 271 to currently 140-145. I even need way less thyroid medication now!!

    Loose skin fear!

I lost a lot of weight >110 pounds when I was about 30. I didn't have any loose skin and looked fantastic!! Fast forward a few years and I gained it all back. I am now 44 years old and had my sleeve 1 1/2 years ago- have lost 121 & have had some loose skin this time around. My arms have done fine, legs are ok (small amount of loose skin in very upper thighs), boobs look a little saggy, face and neck tightened up great, my stomach on the other hand is a bag of saggy flesh!! I would take my loose skin over being overweight any day!!! You are young so maybe your skin will snap back wonderfully!!

    Wine

I waited 12 months and guess what... It didn't kill me to wait that long and the drink didn't kill me either ????

    Greek yogurt:/ Yuck!

Are you pre op? I could not stand any kind of yogurt or any flavor prior to surgery. My taste buds changed a lot after surgery and I tried yogurt and actually liked it!! I was even surprised that my favorite flavor is plain old vanilla.

    Weight lost during pre-op diet.

I was on a two week liquid only diet. Only lost four pounds and I never cheated. 13 pounds is great!! Hang in there it will be over soon. Good luck on your surgery.
