My shower drain is finally hair free!
glitter eyes replied to glitter eyes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Pinkgirl1234 Let me know how the blueberry flavor tastes. I haven't tried that one yet, just the regular vida glow. -
So annoyed and I need to get over it!
glitter eyes replied to ReneK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey put your protein drink in a fireball whiskey bottle and tell them you are not eating so you can get drunk faster- that should blow their minds. LOL. All joking aside, that is a frustrating situation. Like you said the easiest thing to tell people is you are just drinking broth and shakes because you haven't been feeling well. Seems like they are trying to make it a big deal. Hang in there it will all be worth it!! -
Christmas Morning Breakfast - What should I do
glitter eyes replied to MIMISAN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will probably be in the minority here; but... I say if you want to splurge a little on the holiday that should be fine. As long as the holiday doesn't turn into a week long splurge you should be fine. Like you said, you have been building good habits, have lost some pre op weight and will probably lose more. I eat "normal" food on holidays and special occasions and just get right back on track the next day and have been able to maintain. It's all about balance. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! -
I'm starving-but going foward with preop diet- day 11
glitter eyes replied to ivettev001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your plan allows it try sugar free Popsicles. I ate these when I was having cravings and it help. They were like a "snack". Also, increasing your protein can help with hunger. If you plan allows you could try an additional protein shake. Hang in there you can do it!! -
Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...
glitter eyes replied to McButterpants's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Welcome back!! I have used prescription appetite suppressants in the past and they work for short term fixes and if your doctor thinks they are a good idea it could be worth a shot. Sometimes all you need to get back on track is a little nudge and they may be just the thing. When I took them I didn't have any of the jittery side effects and tolerated them just fine. Down the road if I felt I needed them to get back on track I would not be adversed to taking them. Good luck you can do it!! Keep us posted. -
3 weeks post op extreme fatigue
glitter eyes replied to A New KK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very tired for about the first four to five weeks. I just tried to listen to my body and rest when needed. Once the fatigue went away my energy levels returned and I had more energy than ever before. It sounds like you are doing a great job getting in your exercise while balancing it with the sleep your body is craving. Hang in there things get easier!! Enjoy the rest of your time off. -
After I got to maintenance I tried milk and cereal and did fine. I rarely eat it now because I don't like it very much anymore.

So much pain! Please help! - Incision Photos included..rough
glitter eyes replied to Klolojadie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
For me walking helped the most. I also used a small travel sized pillow that I braced my stomach with when walking, coughing, sneezing, etc.. That pillow was a lifesaver. I used it for the first two weeks, then I even slept with it for awhile. A heating pad may help too. I got a little relief from it. Mostly for me it was just walking and time; each couple of days it got easier and easier. -
Loose skin after surgery
glitter eyes replied to healthyamy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your age may help you with the loose skin. I lost about 100 pounds when I was 30 and had zero loose skin. Everything tightened up wonderfully. This time around at the age of 43 when I had weight loss surgery I lost 130 pounds and some of my skin is loose. Arms are ok, stomach is the worst. A lot of things come into play with the loose skin aspect. There is always plastics if you feel you need it. -
I think your feelings are pretty normal this early out. I went on vacation at five weeks post op and one night I remember getting upset and crying because everyone was eating rice and I was not. I only had a few of these little upsets throughout this process. It gets so much easier as time passes. Like others have posted- the food eventually loses its hold over you and you begin to view food as fuel.

So excited for you- good luck and keep us posted!

Starting to Worry
glitter eyes replied to SaaxySam09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't lose any weight during my six month waiting period prior to surgery. I did make several lifestyle changes such as cutting out all soda, cut almost all refined sugar out... Still no weight loss. Did two week liquid diet and only lost four pounds. I was so worried that this surgery would not work for me or that I would be a slow loser. After surgery the weight began to drop off. I went from 271 to 145. Hang in there you may just see your loss post op!! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. Hang in there with the liquid pre op diet. You can do it. -

Does Your Family’s Kitchen Support Weight Loss?
glitter eyes replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
My kitchen looks just like it looked prior to my weight loss surgery. My daughter and husband are very thin and have high metabolisms. They are snackers so there is always "junk food" in the house: Cookies, candy, ice cream, etc. I have never let it bother me since I chose to have surgery- not them. I keep plenty of food in the house for me to snack on. I also cook very clean healty dinners and they eat whatever I cook. So meals are easy. Sometimes I will make them a Pasta or rice side dish. The abundance of junk is my house has only bothered me a few times, and the feeling to eat it either passes or I will have an occasional treat since I am in maintance. -
One word to describe how you feel after losing all that weight
glitter eyes replied to Scottyd1264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

This happens to me if I eat or drink too close to bed time. I can not eat two hours before I lay down or I wake up choking on acid too. I take a Prilosec daily and a Zantac.
-
I am always cold and I am a year and a half post op. I sleep under an electric blanket, have a heated throw and bundle up constantly- by the way I live in Florida.

Welcome!! This place is a wealth of information. Congrats on your wonderful success so far!!

Before being sleeved how slices of pizza could you eat, and after how many?
glitter eyes replied to Scottyd1264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Pre op I could get four slices of thick or hand tossed pizza. Post op I didn't try pizza until I was at my maintenance weight (except for a few times just eating the toppings). Now I can eat one to two slices of thin crust only. One if its has lots of meats and veggies, two if it just has cheese. -
Does anyone struggle from swollen legs?
glitter eyes replied to healthyamy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My legs used to swell pre op. That was one of the first things to get better for me. My legs now are skinny pencils!! Wish my stomach would take notes from my legs and disappear. Good luck to you. This is a wonderful life changing surgery. -
The first probably four months after surgery I lost my desire to cook and bake. Most food looked and smelled slightly yucky to me. I especially did not like looking at large portions. By month six I started cooking and baking like a crazy fool. Everyone was sick of me making cakes and cookies. I over estimated on amounts and always ended up fixing a feast, even at small family dinners. By then food was beginning to smell and look normal to me again. I think subconsciously I thought "if I can't eat treats and large amounts I will cook it for everyone else". I got lots of enjoyment from watching others eat and enjoy foods By the end of the year everything evened out. I cook normal portions now for others, I only bake for special occasions. Now that I am in maintenance I even occasionally eat my baked treats.

Anyone with hyper/hypothyroidism?
glitter eyes replied to RellaBelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They may be concerned about hyperthyroidism if your TSH levels are low. It is an inverse relationship- if TSH is low then hyperthyroidism, if TSH is high then hypothyroidism. There are also additional levels they can check such as your T3 and T4 levels. I have hypothyroidism and the only thing that has changed for me post surgery was as I lost weight I have needed less medication. I went from 250 of synthyroid down to 88. -
Holy moly you look great!!! You should be so proud. Those 98 pounds gone have made a difference!! Hang in there- those last two will eventually get tired of hanging around and leave!! Good job

Help me get these fluids down!
glitter eyes replied to Jasley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one wants to slap you- it's hard and challenging in the beginning to find what works for you. It takes time and a lot of experimenting. Some things that helped me: I needed my fluids ice cold, some people do better with room temperature and some with hot liquids. I had a lot of discomfort from trying to drink and even sip. What helped me was I put my liquid in a medicine cup and made that into three sips so each sip was so tiny. That helped the most. Then came the struggle to find what fluids did best for me. I drank a lot of sugar free vitamin water, Sobe' water and propel. I had to try different flavors. Even water with drops added to it was uncomfortable. I lived on peach propel until about two months ago and now I can drink water with flavor drops. Hang in there you will find what works for you. Good luck -
@bayougirlmrsc. I haven't respond to your post until now, but I have been thinking of you often. You have gotten some good advice here. I don't have much to add since I have never been in your shoes. But here is what I do know... We only get one life and I believe that we all deserve to live it happy!! You are a beautiful woman with a lot to offer and it sounds like your marriage isn't giving you any happiness. Lack of physical intimacy and mental intimacy should not be present in a happy marriage. Please do what you can to have a happy life; whether it's therapy to help repair your broken marriage or ditching that loser. We are all rooting for you.
