    Does Feeling Full End?

It does end. I can't really remember when mine went away. It was probably around month six. Up until then every time I ate my tiny portions I felt like I had just consumed a huge holiday meal. I am 20 months post op and that feeling is gone????. However, I still have some restriction left and can't eat anywhere near the portions I could eat pre op, so the sleeve is still working. I just have to be more diligent to maintain my weight.
  2. It was probably week 5 or 6 before I felt food went down easier. It took forever for liquids to get easier. Even now at 20 months post op I can eat easier than I can drink. I still have to do just four sips at a time and then wait. So I still sip sip sip all day.

    Pre op diet!

Hang in there and have faith. I know how you feel. My two week pre op diet was liquids only: protein shakes, broth, and sugar free jello and Popsicles. I had a two friends that did their two liquid diet around the same time I did mine. They lost almost 20 pounds and I only lost 4. I never cheated either. I was so worried the surgery wouldn't work or that I would be a slow loser. After surgery my weight came off fairly easily. I went from 271 down to 145 in about six or seven months. I am 20 months post op and maintaining just fine!! It works!! Good luck on your surgery- you can do it!

    Can't bring Phone?!

@Nurse_Lenora. That's not crazy.. After my surgery as soon as I got to my room I shuffled to the bathroom and redid my makeup then sat down and painted my fingernails (the hospital wouldn't allow nail polish during surgery). After I was glammed up I went for a walk!!

    Shirataki Noodles

I have tried them but didn't find that they were worth the space they took up in my stomach. I prefer the spaghetti squash. However, when I did eat them they didn't taste that bad to me. I sautéd them in a little olive oil with fresh garlic and put some homemade spaghetti sauce on them and another time topped them with grilled shrimp. They just filled me up too fast and I couldn't get my protein in for that meal. It wouldn't hurt to try them I would just wait until you are further out.

    QUESTIONS!

    1. Can you also have protein shakes, sugar free jello and sugar free Popsicle on your plan? I found that the variety of those things helped. I also tried a lot of different protein shakes and that kept things interesting. Just remember this phase does not last forever so you can make it through. 2. The purée soups depends on your plan. Pre op I was only allowed protein shakes, broth, SF jello and SF Popsicles. Post op I was allowed puréed soups 3. For the first approx. three months I found it hard enough just to get all my protein and water in for the day. Food didn't taste very good in the beginning for me and I didn't want any snacks, I just ate when I was hungry. We are all different. Just listen to your body, stick to your plan, and when you do eat snacks make sure they are healthy snacks and you will do fine. 4. Wish I could remember how long mine took to heal. I did go on a beach vacation at five weeks post op and they were completely healed by then. 5. After surgery my tasted changed drastically. I didn't have any cravings for about the first nine months. Now when I have cravings its for sweet things- pre op I loved chips bread and pasta, now I have no cravings for those things. Now that I am at maintenance if I have a craving for something sweet I eat it and just get right back on my high protein low carb way of eating. 6. Going out to eat has always been easy for me. I just make sure to pick high protein food. Almost all restaurants have something you can pick from. Nowadays I usually just split a meal with my husband or get an appetizer. Makes eating out cheaper. For instance today I was out running errands and shopping and went through chick fil a and got the grilled chicken nuggets. Good luck on your surgery!!

How long does it take to fall in love?

I was 16 years old. My current boyfriend brought his friend to my house one night to meet me. His friend took one look at me and said, "You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen and I want to spend the rest of my life looking at them." I fell in love instantly. Broke up with the current boyfriend and began dating his friend ( I know that's kinda mean, but all is fair in love and war). That boy and I have been together ever since. We have been married 25 years this year and more in love than ever. We knew we were meant for each other instantly. Our love and marriage has been a blessing and I am thankful everyday.

    Medicare coverage question

@@jj7481 her primary insurance doesn't cover weight loss surgery at all. She would definitely meet criteria as she has a high BMI and multiple comorbities. She has sleep apnea, diabetes, & high blood pressure.

Thanks everyone for the helpful information. I will pass this on to my mom.
  15. I had pain for about two weeks. It took me over a week before I could sleep in my bed and probably two and half weeks before I could lay on my side. Most of my pain was in the left side. Then one day out of the blue it suddenly went away and I felt wonderful!! Hang in there everyone is different.

  17. Have hope!! I have hypothyroidism and was on 300 mc of synthyroid a day before surgery. I struggled so hard and found losing weight difficult. I only lost four pounds on my two week liquid diet (and I didn't cheat). I was worried the surgery would not work me either. Surgery day I weighed 271 pounds and about nine months later 150. I am over a year and a half post op and now weigh 145. My need for synthyroid medication has decreased to 88mcg a day. My weight loss wasn't that slow and I felt that I lost as fast as anyone else. I wish you the best on your upcoming surgery. It's a wonderful life changing tool!!

    Struggling with forgiveness horse related

I don't blame you one bit for being upset. You are justified in your feelings. Seems that she has the energy and money for things she wants such as the goats, miniature horse and now the rescue horse. All those animals take time, energy and some money to feed. After all you have done for her it seems such a small thing for her to have taken in one of your horses while you were unable to care for them. I guess you just have to decide if the friendship is worth it. It is a personal decision and a difficult one. I think we all want our friends to be there for us when we need it- you were there for her that's for sure. I wish you luck and wisdom in deciding what to do.

    Surgery at 16

Congratulations on your surgery. The whole skin thing is almost impossible to predict. However, at your age, weight and height I would say you got a great chance at having a bikini body!!! I am 5'3" and when I was 30 I went from 250 down to 150 and my skin was great. It all tightened up. Stomach was flat and boobs perky. I gained it all back and when I lost my weight this time post sleeve at 43 I went from 271 to 140 and things are droopy and saggy. Your age should help you tremendously. Good luck and keep us posted!!

    Maybe a silly question....

They told me no nail polish. I just took a little manicure kit with me to the hospital and as soon as I was awake from anesthesia I painted my nails a cheerful pink, then took a long walk while they dried.

    Night shift after surgery...

I work 12 hour night shifts and in the beginning it was a bit of a challenge, especially earlier post op when I could not eat much at one time. I had to be very aware of what I was eating and I found that if I planned my food intake it was a lot easier. For example, I found if I took a ready to drink protein shake with me to work and made sure I drank it on the way home then I would start my "day" with 30 grams of protein. When I woke up I would make sure to eat a high protein meal such as fish, grilled chicken, tuna, etc. that way by the time I headed to work I usually had another 20 grams of protein in. At work I try to eat a couple of small high protein meals. It is definitely doable, but does take more effort than being on day shift. Occasionally I work a few weeks of days and it is much easier. One thing I have to be careful of is: if I don't drink a protein shake or eat a meal before I go to bed when I get home from work then I sleep all day. Occasionally I will do that and then sleep too late to eat before work. That puts me starting my shift with no protein for the day and then its hard to meet my protein goals. It does get easier as you get into a routine. The key for me is tracking my food and planning. Good luck!!
