    Feeling disappointed and unsure

I have just this hour left my surgeon , I too am diabetic , I am having the sleeve on the twenty second of this month, my surgery is at Duke Hospital, never have I had my surgeon say anything about not having the sleeve, in fact he encouraged it over by pass , I would talk with my surgeon if o were you and explain to them what you choose.
  2. Surgery Dec 17, at Duke do not have to do any pre op liquid diet, just need to stop taking aspirin , this is such a happy surprise , I was so dreading the liquid diet thing, that has been my biggest fear! I am ready ! Good luck to everyone.
  3. Hey tenzinblue , I have done the liquids a few days a week just for myself, I don't want to go cold turkey at the last minute, so to speak. I have known from the beginning that the weeks( not just days) would be hard for me, I'm working up to it O guess, And thank you best of luck to you also
  4. What a great testimony , we as a whole sometimes are own worse enemies , but we do figure it out eventually . This time is kind of like a rebirth for me, a chance to start all over again, I blame no one for my weight but me. I can honestly say that. I believe I have always been a good wife a great mother and a good friend , I just wasn't to good to myself. Sure the cake , ice cream etc tasted good , but the satisfaction was always short lived, anyone that thinks food is not an addiction does not no addiction .With that being said :I think every person that has made it to adulthood has experienced some sort of addiction whether it's smoking, drugs , shopping, drinking and of course food it's still harmful to our lives. We are human! There is a cure and we all have it , it's called self preservation, I intend to end my addiction to food , be healthy , happy and grateful for this second chance. I realize it's going to be hard and that the sleeve is a tool , but with this tool , I can do this . Forgive me for the rant, i really am a positive lady. , and hope to only be a positive support to everyone that is on this journey , good luck with your pre op and post op surgery, and for sharing your experiences thus far. I thank you all.
  5. I being sleeved Dec 17th, for the last three weeks I have taken one day each week and did nothing but liquids, just to get use to it I guess, last week I did two days as i will do the same this week, Turkey week I intend to do three days, into I star my two weeks pre surgery, I found it harder to do one day a week than two days a week, weird don't you think, anyway have in my head that when its time for the two weeks total, I will at least no what to expect, even the first day all liquids i had such a headache, the two days is when I get really weak , and have no taste for water at all, which is not good, this has to be the hardest part of the whole process, recommendation s on liquid shakes would be appreciated , TIA and good luck to all
  6. Yes you are approved, the date is the dummy date that your surgeons office puts on just to let insurance know that they ( surgeon) wants to get you approved close to that date, the surgeons office will call with correct date and times for your pro op instructions. Why the surgeons office doesn't call as soon as they know is cruel to me, they know how excited and anxious we are to know . Just sayin good luck happy for you

    December 18th 2014 Surgery Date

Oh, happy happy dance, Dec 17, in Durham, NC ,every requirement done, BSBS of NC approved, cannot believe it's this close , Feels like I have been jumping through hoops forever, but started Journey in August, so happy to hear that I have Dec pals. Good luck to everyone that is traveling this path. Did I say I'm happy?
  9. Dec. 17 th for me , just got my approval date. This will be best weekend , I am so excited, I'm BCBS of NC, they have been amazing. dr. Torquati at Duke is doing my sleeve. I am 5' 5" and weight of 229 . I have been doing a liquid diet for a couple days a week since fist of Oct. I think it will help me when I have to start my pre surgery liquid diet. That will probably be the hardest part of this whole journey , but I Got This! Good luck to all.
  10. Thank you, just need to hear it from others , so nervous .

Anthem Blue Cross PPO through employer

It means documented by PCP, I have BCBS NC Medicare Blue, I had to do 4months documented I have done all tests ,EKG, EGD, blood , Nut, physc everything but one last visit to PCP on Nov 6, I have been told that with type two diabetes , high blood pressure and sister and dad dying in their 40's fr heart disease that I would deff qualify for sleeve, but I am still not sure, but have also been told that most of not all surgeons know whether you are approved or not before they require all the jumping thru hoops. I also meet all Medicare requirements , so am I good to go, yes o very impatient , thanks for any feed back
  12. And I am so scared I wont get approved , haven't heard from anyone with company an was wondering , does my BCBS make approval or does Medicare , my surgeon says Nov date for my sleeve, how can he say that and paper work o be filed until after PCP appointment , does my doctor really know that I'm approved or not before I start all the hoop jumping? I am just so scared of denial
  13. Does anyone have BCBS of NC Medicare Blue Advantage? I have my one more appt w/ PCP???? and have aced very required test and evaluations etc , I have a BMI of 39, 5'4 and weight 230, have had type two diabetes for seven years and on Lantus twice a day, high blood pressure and a dad and sister die in their thirty s from heart disease and type 2 diabetes my surgeon is convinced I will be approve and is not worried at all, I have my telling me that my surgeon knows who will be accepted before he ever starts the process,
  14. Hi, Linda here, I have done all tests , but have two more Primary care physician visits before I am 65 years old, so that means medicare, however I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC. Medicare Blue Advantage, which only requires 4 months of weight documentation , I have BMI of 39.9 and type two bias eyes, high blood pressure, not severe sleep apnea , so I don't use Cpap machine. Last week when my surgeon did my Endo. he told me

    Who Are You?

Hi, My name is Linda, I am a young 65 year old, been over weight most of my life ,and at my highest now of 231. I have decided to have the sleeve after two years of research and educating myself of wls. I found my surgeon, interviewed with him and have gone through all the required tests, being that I am on Medicare with a BlueCross Blue Shield advantage plan I am only required to meet with my primary care physician 4 months , have two left and hoping to have surgery in late Nov., I have type two diabetes and on insulin,, I am nervous the last few days that I won't get approved, I have waited for this surgery for years and I'm so ready. I am very fortunate to have Duke Primary Doctors, and Duke Surgeon who I have total trust in. Why should I be so nervous about not being approved?
