What doctor in Mexico did you go with for your revision?
barbermary replied to Always smiling's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi there! I had my band done in February 2006. Lost 110 pounds and did great for over three years and let bad habits creep back in. I started having a lot of reflux the last year or two and felt I needed to have the band removed. I had my band done in Monterrey Mexico and I had the revision done through the same company Ready4Achange this time in Tijuana in October 2014 with Dr. Garcia. I flew into San Diego and they picked me up at the airport and we drove across the border. I stayed at the Marriot the first night, had surgery the next day and stayed two nights then went back to the Marriot for two days and flew home. It all went very well, great service and really nice people to deal with. Felt safe and well taken care of. The price for a revision to a sleeve was $5200. My insurance doesn't cover weight loss surgery so this was a good option for me. Did well at the hospital and at home not much pain at all. I have lost about 30 pounds even over the holidays and am looking forward to exercising and getting this weight off for good. Good luck on your journey! -

I had my surgery on October 2 and am still in Mexico. Fly home to Texas tomorrow. I'm doing really good, I think it's normal to be tired and headachy. You aren't eating yet and may not be getting in enough fluids. Try to drink often and keep hydrated. Walking is important too, just don't over do it. Hope you get to feeling better, it won't take long!

From what I have read it is very similar, but of course no fills! I also have a lap band and am getting it removed and a revision on October 2. Really close!!! I will keep you posted. Mine hasn't slipped, just not working as well and after having it for 8 years my dear hubby is nervous about slippage or erosion, so I am more than willing to try the sleeve! Good luck!

Congratulations Becca!!!! I'm off to get mine done on Thursday. Welcome to the October sleevers!!!! Mary

Just a quick note to all you October sleevers. I'm scheduled for surgery Oct 2 in Mexico. Flying out tomorrow!!!! Eeeeeek! Super excited. Can't wait to start the great adventure! Anyway, I have been watching a lot of you tube videos, mostly great advice, but have picked up on a couple of things that might be invaluable to take with us to the hospital. One was Gas X strips. They dissolve on the tongue. and are said to help lessen the gas pains after surgery, Another is carmex, chapstick, or vasaline for the lips. Some docs let you have ice hips after surgery, some don't so the lips and mouth get dry. Also mouthwash helps to moisten and freshen the mouth during this time. Good luck to you all and catch you on the sleeved side!!!! Mary

Whooohooo! Two More days all you October 2 Sleevers!!!! I am getting so excited. I've been watching a bunch of you tube videos. Great information on the most part. I noticed a couple of things that might be invaluable post op that I picked up and just wanted to give to a heads up in in case you wanted to through it in your bag. One this was Gas X strips. They dissolve on your tongue and are said to help post op. Another item was carmex, chapstick or vasaline for your lips. Some docs let you have ice chips some don't for a while and I hear the lips get awful dry also mouthwash to swish out mouth for dryness. Hope you all have a great experience!!! Mary

I forget the name of the hospital but it is in Tijuana. I spend the night at the Marriot on Wednesday, two nights at the hospital and then two more at the Marriot and back to San Diego on Monday and fly out about 3pm. Where are you from? I'm from the Houston area.

I'm scheduled for surgery in Tijuana and I'm also going alone. Oct 2! I asked about my computer and stuff and was told my patient coordinator could put it in a safe but they had not had any problems. I would ask your contact. -
