August post op sleevers: Check in
Introvert replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think I did well at all during the holidays and I'm having a hard time building my determination to get back on track. Any hard hitting advice or words of truth for me? And I did not have upper back but lower back. It was terrible for a couple weeks. I couldn't sit in hard chairs and some told me I had to re-learn to sit with a smaller bottom. Nevertheless, I worked on my posture and did had my husband crack my back by picking me up in a jerky bear hug type move and its much better now. Hope you feel better soon... -

August post op sleevers: Check in
Introvert replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all! I'm reading all of your posts and am absolutely amazed at all of your results! I was sleeved 8/20 & am only down 55 lbs. Some of you are 90 lbs down?! Wow! I pray to have your success! On another note, my church is having a weight loss challenge (probably because they all notice my results and want to compete, I won the last contest and then gained it all back plus). My husband & sister, who are the only people who know about my surgery, both say it's immoral for me to compete in the challenge. But I still have to exercise and eat right. And all the women want to "beat" me, so I would provide "inspiration". What do you guys think? To compete or not to compete? That is the question... -

@bellabloom- I was just thinking why is she telling all of her business?! Lol I'm also a pastor's wife. Maybe we can start a new group... ???? -
Chele H, are the pills able to be swallowed? Or only chewed?
-
Thanks! I'll check all these suggestions out. I didn't want to always be dependent on my surgeon's office to supply my vitamins... ????

What calcium can I buy from the regular drugstore? My Nutritionist said the Viactiv is not the "right kind" of calcium. What are you all taking? The cost and tastes? Thanks

Will I / Did You Go Off Protonix/Omerprazole/Pantoprazole PPIs?
Introvert replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve 8/20 and have never had heartburn. Before my sleeve I was diagnosed with gastritis and put on pantoprazole because of the heartburn. My surgeon requires all his patients to take it for 3 months after the surgery and he just took me off on Friday. So far I'm fine and am praying that I never need it again. And I pray yours is controllable too... ???? -
Remember how you felt whenever someone around you decided to go on a diet and thought you should join them? Or kept you informed of every detail of exercise or meal calorie count? He's feeling the same way... YOU made the decision to change YOUR life. After he sees your commitment AND success maybe it will motivate him to change. If you're really concerned just refuse to buy or stock the fridge with the dangerous foods (sodas, processed foods etc.) Let him get those things himself. My husband and kids are a little irritated when I shop now but I think they're are sifting through the foods to experience new healthy tastes and are acquiring new tongues...

Doctor says he wouldn't let his own sister have rny!
Introvert replied to bellabloom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hips used to kill me. My knees used to ache. I'm only 3 months out 45 pounds down and am running up stairs. (Sometimes 2 at a time) off BP medicine and feel great. Sure you can take pain pills your whole life but why would you want to? I think it's just as risky having needles injected into your spine! If not the RNY try the sleeve. It's YOUR body, you have to be your best advocate... -
Ice cream gives me dumping. Bread stuffs my sleeve uncomfortably.

I literally LAUGHED OUT LOUD! Lol I also play the "that size" game. I think we go through our lives with a different image than what others see, so it's a good reference exercise. And I'm the opposite when dining out because even healthy choices come in huge portions. I eat 3 bites of a salad and then box the rest. I know my people are thinking I'm taking this "diet thing" too far. (I haven't told anyone either) When I go out with my husband and kids I don't bother to order. I just eat one bite off of each of their plates and drink water. We're saving money and they're ok with it, now. I always enjoy your posts... ???? -
I only told my husband and sister. I tell everyone else I'm "going hard" on my new diet. They're going to see a change even that close post op. They'll admire you're dedication. After all it IS a new diet...
-
Yes it's probably nutritional. I was so weak and exhausted until about 2 months out. Now I'm a little under 3 months and have tons of energy and can eat whatever... Just give it time. ????

That time of the month...and catheter?

Don't worry. Just inform them of your concerns and everything will be fine. I came down with a cold the day before surgery and kept telling every person that came in my room, just in case it would call for a different treatment. Woke up with no cold symptoms at all and worried for no reason... You'll be fine!????
