As with most self-pay lapbands, the 1st year of fills are included with the cost of my surgery. I'm thinking ahead to year 2, and I'm wondering - are fills an FSA eligible expense? If yes, is any documentation required? Thank you in advance.

feedback from Jan '08 Bandsters
Cowtown_Chelly replied to Joanna240's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hang in there.... I was banded on 1/30, and I too hit a plateau and yes, even saw some weight gain. Remember what you probably heard or read elsewhere - it's going to be about your 3rd or 4th fill before we get to that sweet spot. I had my 2nd fill, and I'm not starting to have some of those sensations that's I've read about.... pain when things get stuck or I don't chew is one that I've really had. Dang, it sure hurts. I can tell a difference already and I finally have some restriction. Now I just need to exericse. -
It's exciting to read everyone's progress. I wanted to add my NSVs to the list wedding ring is very loose size 26 jeans are too big size 3x shirts fit got into a size 26 Wal-Mart capris (those run small) Dressing for Easter was a little frustrating. The 3X skirt was too big, but the 2X was too small. I bought the 3X and made due for Sunday, but I want to have it alerted. Another NSV - I've only thrown up once. It's the little things in life that I'm enjoying.

first fill how many cc did you get
Cowtown_Chelly replied to youniquegrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I have a 10 cc band. After my 1st fill, I had a total of 3 cc in my band. I had my 2nd fill yesterday, and I'm now at 3.8 cc. Rachel -

Congratulations. Thank you for sharing --- it really gives me hope. I was banded on 1/30. I'm down 20 lbs, so now I only have 130 to go -
HI Y'all Considering Docs in DFW TX area
Cowtown_Chelly replied to TexasT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Whether the surgery is covered is totally based on if your insurance has an exclusion. It's usually pretty clear if bariatric surgery is covered or excluded. I had my surgery done at the clinic in Hurst. I had the most awesome nurse when I was in recovery. Anyways..... I used Dr. Adam Smith. I also had my 1st fill this past Monday at the clinic. You have a choice of either filling at Dr. Smith's office or the clinic. The clinic is closer to my home. Good Luck. -
I'm so glad I saw this thread. I usually drink plenty of water, but can't seem to get it down right now. I think it's more of a fear thing than anything else? Did anyone experience a fear of drinking? I don't want to throw up, so now I just scared to drink more than a sip at a time.

I was also banded on 1/30. I'm feeling ok. A little setback... my 7 year old tested positive for the flu. So now I'm having to take Tamiflu.

almost banded with 150 to lose
Cowtown_Chelly replied to jacole1820's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery is this Wednesday, 1/30/2008. I'm just under 300 lbs and would like to be at 150 when all is said and done. At 5ft 3in, 150 is probably still consider overweight, but hey... better to be overweight than the dreaded "morbidly obese." :wink2: -
How do you "doctor" your cottage cheese?
Cowtown_Chelly replied to crikkit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like mine with Lowry's Season Salt. -
I'll be banded in early 2008 by Dr. Smith. I haven't schedule my surgery yet. I'm in the midst of busy season at work. I still need to have my psych. and nutritional eval., then I'm ready to go. It's hard right now to find the time off of work to do the evaluations. I have been working for the last 5 months to have my surgery approved via Cigna (6 months of medically supervised weight loss) only to have my husband's insurance provider to change. :faint:New plan has very specfic exclusion of any bariatric surgery. So now, I'm self pay.
