I, like many others, I'm guessing have been following your journey. I got sleeved on November 4th. Besides a few hiccups doing well. My heart goes out to you. I wish there was more we (as BP community) could do. I hope you get some answers soon. Do your best, try to keep your your head up (best you can). Thanks for sharing your experiences and really hoping things take a turn for the better soon -
Howdy all, I'm just starting the pre-op diet and have my surgery date set for 11/4. I'm nervous and excited and scared and ready all at the same time. For my pre-op diet, my doctor has me having two Protein shakes a day, and a "sensible" dinner (all to be less than 1000 cals a day). Today is day one, and I knew I'd be hungry. Just seeing if anybody is my neck of the woods and what their experiences have been like? I have a friend that had a sleeve about 6 months ago, and they have had great success. However, they don't really eat what they're supposed to now, they cheated during the pre-op diet, and are not a great source of information. (We are friends for other reasons besides just weight loss, obviously - hehe). Looking for others that have had similar experiences and just a support buddy.

HELP, what is wrong with me?
midwestgirl32 replied to Jacqbult's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing is wrong with you hon. Promise. This is a big decision. It's major surgery and its something that you are deciding to do. Nothing wrong with questioning it and being scared. I was TERRIFIED. even up to the moment when they had the IV in (but not in the OR yet) I thought about asking to leave. I'm exactly one week post op. I'm not saying it's been the best week ever, but it's been totally fine. A few days of discomfort for a lifetime of healthiness? Yes please. As people told me, if you weren't scared, I would be worried about THAT. you'll do great!! -
Can I ask what insurance companies you guys have that have given approvals?

Any November Sleevers for 2014 need surgery buddys?
midwestgirl32 replied to happymama2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think each doctor is different. Some require that you lose a certain amount of weight. My doctor pretty much just required that we didn't gain weight (but of course wanted us to lose). For me, we started on a diet plan prior to the pre-op diet (lower cals, healthy foods, exercise). The nurse told us that they only had to turn away two or three people because they had gained too much weight. So, do your best is my advice. You can do it. Go get it girl -
Surgery is tomorrow! I'm freaking out!
midwestgirl32 replied to Cassiopeia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not everybody has to do it. It's for bowel prep. My doc didn't require it. Just one of those doc preferences things. Your surgeon would have told you if they wanted you to do it! -

Any November Sleevers for 2014 need surgery buddys?
midwestgirl32 replied to happymama2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Three days post op here. Hanging in. Glad to be home. I had trouble getting all of my protein and fluids in yesterday...but today's a new day. Still in some pain but haven't taken pain meds since 130 this morning (longest I've gone since surgery). Can only take small sips. Hurts to take bigger. Assuming this gets better? No lie, but having some regrets. I think most of it is because a very dear friend unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday (surgery day), and I haven't been able to "be there". Also not allowing myself to grieve and only focusing on healing. Emotional and physical pain together makes a tough combo. -

Day 2 of the H*LL Preop Diet
midwestgirl32 replied to brians34's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 11 (of 15) of preop diet (then one day of clear liquids). It does get easier, but I still want a piece of pizza. I'm lucky that I get to eat one sensible meal a day (plus two shakes for the other meals). I have a countdown app on my phone. And I know it's to make surgery better. HANG IN THERE. try to find something to take your mind off of eating. And drink tons of Water. I'm hoping this is all worth it! -

I have mine later today. The nerves are in high force. I'm sure you'll be just fine!! Sending good vibes -
I started my two week pre-op diet yesterday. Surgery is on the 4th. I'm excited but NERVOUS. On my diet, the doc says I can have two Protein Shakes a day and a "sensible meal" all to be under 1000. Yesterday was TOUGH. Today at work has been super hard too. Does it get easier? I have a "friend" telling me to cheat. I dont want to, I'm scared enough of surgery!! Any suggestions? How did you guys get through it?

Pre Op diet for 10 days. Type 2 diabetes and NEED a meal...will I screw it up?
midwestgirl32 replied to Jeffrey Eliot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck!! I'm type II as well and struggling. Some minutes are harder than others. Luckily I'm allowed a sensible meal (plus two Protein shakes) each day all to stay under 1000 calories. I can have Jello (blech). I was having trouble and feeling terrible. My NUT told me I could add in a veggie during the day. At least gives me something to snack on. I've been warned about the dangers of cheating and it terrifies me. Good luck. Feel free to reach out if you need more support. WE CAN DO THIS. OUR MIND IS STRONGER THAN OUR STOMACH. -
