I was just wondering if anyone else has gastroparesis? Mine is ideopathic (or unknown cause). I was told I may not be able to get any type of bypass or sleeve because of this, and I have to wait until my doctor consults further. Has anyone had the surgery with this condition? I am just looking for some hope....

That is really good to hear. I am hoping for those results myself. Time will tell I suppose.

How did you know which surgery was right for you? I have had my consult with the doctor, and I can't help but second guessing if what he is wanting to do is right for me and not just what the insurance says? I do have a stomach condition that can cause ulcers and from what I have been able to research a plication can cause ulcers....then again a common cold or flu bug when looked up on WebMD can make you think you will die. I don't want to back out of this surgery because I have fought every inch of the way to get approved but I don't want to end up with more issues further down the road. Has anyone been here before?? I just need to know if I should go with my gut and say something or should I do what the doctor and the insurance say works best??

I wonder if this is why I don't like online dating

that's great! off the market and a downed profile, sounds serious and wonderful. best of luck -
The more I am on here, the more I notice a subtitle under each member. These range from Novice--like me, to VIP. I don't get it. What do they mean? Do we get to pick them? or who chooses them for us? If anyone could explain this to me I would be grateful.

@@OKCPirate I did the list or profile of my mate years ago. I had 20 things/interests and 5 no-goes. I think I was like 15 when I made it up, but it stuck with me. I wasn't even looking for my spouse when boom out of no where he strolls into me (literally). I at the time had a bunch of books I was going to donate to the library and low and behold that stupid list was in there and flew out to land on his boots. I didn't think anything of it at the time other than please don't let that cute man read that teenage fluff (once I realized once it was). To my dismay he did read it, and then proceeded to check off the stuff on the list that matched up with him! (the nerve of this cute guy!) he put his number on the bottom, and walked away.... the next day he called me (he got my number from my best friend--never forgave her either lol). We got married less than 6 months later. He was 17 out of 20 on my list. I guess no one is perfect. Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say with my story is @@CowgirlJane don't try so hard. Love will find you (sometimes at embarrassing times) when you least expect it. -
@@Djmohr thank you for your input. I think I need to do some more research. As for getting another doctor's opinion, I don't think it will be possible without a large out of pocket expense. Dr. Black is LITERALLY the only doctor in the state of Alabama to take my insurance without a 5 year wait. And when it comes down to it, I can't wait that long. It's not a matter of impatience, it's my health. I have done all I can do myself, even my PCP told me she was surprised I did this well. I have hit a major road block getting to that 75 on my own, and now I come to find out if I go below a 40 BMI my insurance won't approve the surgery. Which makes no sense to me. You would think they would encourage natural weight loss if possible. My surgery would have been at the end of this month if a nurse had put in my information right. She marked me as having only blood work but no weigh in when I was in my fourth month ( I needed a solid six in a row), so I had to start up again. Kind of a bummer, but hey we all make mistakes right? And it is giving me a chance to work out all my jitters. lol Plus, get all my questions asked and answered. I liked that idea. Congratulations on coming up on your anniversary! You are close to doing it all in a year! I am proud of you, that takes dedication and moxy! Good for you!

@@Sajijoma way to go! My hats off to you for going through it and coming out the other side! I am not sure how I would have handled that with my anxiety. The last time I had to have an evaluation I cried/hyperventilated so hard I ended up getting sick on the doctor's shoes, which only made things worse. If all goes right, I should be able to have my surgery come around Christmas. who knows maybe we will be getting skinny together

I am thinking to start my pantry for after my surgery or well, even before my surgery (during the liquids only). I am wondering if I can do my broth or does it have to be store bought? Also, what is the big difference in broth and stock? I was told stock wasn't alright but broth was...can someone explain this to me?

Well, I have found a doctor. He has been doing surgeries for more than 15 years to the sleeves. He will even take my insurance. I don't mind the wait seeing how my other health issues are involved. The doctor is even willing to do GERD repair surgery before than so I don't have to severe acid reflux anymore. All that being said, I should be able to have my sleeve done in January 2016 at the latest.

I have my consult tomorrow morning at 9 AM. i have been looking forward to this day for over a month, but now that it is right around the corner I have the biggest butterflies. What should I expect? Will I find out my surgery date? What sort of questions should I be asking?

Please don't cancel. I am so glad I didn't. The people were very informative and friendly. They seemed to really want to help ME not just because I was becoming a patient but they cared about my health. After takling it over, we decided that my best choice is actually the by pass and not the sleeve because I have some other stomach issues. Now, I just have to see about getting that approval letter. overall though, I am glad for the questions I had, they answered all of them and gave me more information than I probably needed. I am looking forward to my next steps.

My gosh I didn't even think of half of these! Thank you so much. I am going to digging up more questions, because I seem to have been over thinking the wrong things. (Mainly thinking of the after not the during or the before)

Now, it may just be that I was up all night with a sick husband, or the fact that I completely kicked caffeine, but this question hit me about 5 minutes ago. I haven't seen one like it, so here goes nothing. I have state insurance. It has been a HUGE hassle to get this ball rolling, but roll it I did. I meet my surgeon in just over a month, and I am curious if that means my insurance already approved for me to have the surgery. I had to have prior autorizations and information from both my PCP and my insurance company to meet with him. Was that prior authorization just to see him or was it for the surgery too? Anyone willing to help answer a sleep deprived worrier?

I have my first meeting with a surgeon in November. I have had a friend do the surgery last month, so I sort of followed her in her walk. Another thing you may want to know is if the hospital or surgeon's group offer any life classes POST OP. Mine here in Alabama doesn't, but another hospital does if I am willing to pay for it since I was not originally their patient. Some of these classes were with the "diet coach" others were exercise groups or even a bible study held with the hospital chaplen followed by a support group. There are many options out there, you just need to ask. Good luck on your journey!
