They took out 2 ccs and brought me down to 7 in an 11 band and it still didn't help the pain, but helped me gain 10 pounds so far!

I had surgery in 2008 and everything has been great! Recently though, I keep having a burning sensation in my upper left. It happens when I drink Water, even when I'm doing nothing but sitting there. It's intermittent, but I'm worried that it may have something to do with my band. Does anyone have any experience with these symptoms?

SO, the upper GI showed nothing wrong with the band. They gave me 2 weeks worth of Mobic to see if that helped, apparently it's an anti-inflammatory. That didn't help either. I went in yesterday to have a CT and that didn't show anything on the side that I'm hurting. It did show a spot on my Adrenal Gland, so I had to do blood work and I have to do a 24 hour urine test and I go back to my Dr in 2 weeks. They gave me a months worth of Mobic double the dose because they don't think that has anything to do with the burning pain, though! Ugh! So frustrated! Go in for one pain and they find something else and I still don't know what's causing the original pain. I'll let you know in 2 more weeks. They said if I'm still having the pain, they want to do an EDG.

So, I had to postpone my appointment, but finally had it. They didn't see anything wrong with my band during the upper GI. Thankfully! They gave me two weeks of an anti-inflammatory drug and if that doesn't stop the pain and burning, then they want to do an endoscopy. ever since the upper GI, I've been nauseous. Not sure if it's the new meds or what. I go back in two weeks, so I will post another update then!

They are not sure what it is, so they want to do an upper gi this Thursday and then I have to see what that shows. If that doesn't show anything, then they want to do an endoscopy. I'm still having the burning pain every day. They also took out .2 from my band.

I'm going to see my Dr on Tuesday, so I will let you know. When I called the nurse, she didn't seem too concerned. She just said to call if it got worse before my appointment.

Has anyone else had jaw pain when they take a pill? I took a big antibiotic pill last night and soon after my jaw started hurting. It is still hurting this morning so not sure if it is from the huge pill or something more serious?:grouphug:

Yea! Alow carb group! I was banded 1/10/08 and have only lost 42 lbs, that was the first 8 months. Then, weight loss just stopped. I kept having to go back and forth on fills because I couldn't find that spot! So anyway, I started low carb 5 days ago and I've already lost 6 lbs! I have about 100 more to go. So, in your carb counts, do ya'll do net carbs?

is it possible to get too tight 6 weeks after fill?

I had a fill 6 weeks ago and was totally fine. I woke up last night coughing and throwing up. I can't keep anything down. Could it be possible that I am now too tight? -

Hey Becky, So, did you have to have any taken out of your band? I called my dr on Wed and spoke with the nurse and she told me that I couldn't be too tight b/c that's not possible, that maybe I got something stuck. Well, I have been coughing and throwing up every night since then. I can eat maybe 1/4 cup, and have to drink liquids very slowly. So tomorrow, I am calling to get an appointment with my dr. -

I spoke with the nurse and she said no, it shouldn't be that I am too tight. That I might have gotten something stuck. She told me to do liquids today and slowly progress to mushies, then real food again. SO, I will try that and see how tonight goes. -
Ok, everyone talks about it, but I don't know what it is!
-
Taco bell has a side of refried beans, which gets in your protein and is good on the mushie stage

I just made the best soup! Still on liquids, so I blended the steamed veggies. It was totally liquid. I was getting tired of cream of chicken soup! Here's the link: RecipeDetail

Haven't had that happen yet, thank goodness!

Can anyone suggest a good multivitamin, either chewable or liquid? I tried the centrum chewable, but the orange flavor was really gross!
-
Thanks for the info. I will try those. They had some berry chewables at GNC, but the bottle was huge and $17, so what if you don't like them?
-
Ok, silly question. What is PB?

I called the dr's office and they wanted to see me. It was nothing, thank goodness! He said a lot of the time, the incision leaks like that and said it wasn't infected, but he gave me an antibiotic just to be sure. He also said the swelling around the port area is normal too. Thanks for the replies!
-
Last night it leaked so much, it was all over my sheets, I know that's gross! But I need to know is this normal? It's got a red ring around only part of the incision. Also, did anyone's stomach poke out around the port site?:rolleyes2:

I was banded on 1/10/08 and my post op is not until 1/28/08. They said I cannot drive until after that, so looks like 18 days! You're not the only one. I was also planning on going back to work after a week, but my doc has other plans!
-
Yum! Sounds good. Do you make it yourself?

Thanks for all the replies. I was beginning to think something was wrong! -
I've been reading on here for a while and just got my surgery date today! Friday I go to my nutrition class. My mom is worried because she doesn't know why they haven't sent me to see a pyschologist. Has everyone had to do that?
