How about post op diarrhea? Anyone experience that? I don't mean to be gross, but i cannot trust a fart. Literally!
-
@JamieLogical- Yeah my surgeon left the drain the entire two days I was in the hospital. There wasn't a whole lot to drain, but I guess it is precaution. I noticed the same things as you did. All surgeons have such different protocol. You really just don't know what is the "standard" thing to do. I guess the best advice is to follow your doctor's orders. The pain is more tolerable today. After I got rid of the gas, it was more manageable. The gas is was hurts the most I think. For people to say they didn't have any gas, it is beyond me. They must have got rid of it before they noticed. Because the fact is, they do pump you up with Co2 to do surgery. Some may get rid of their gas faster than others. Apparently mine lingered 2 days until I finally passed gas. (sorry sounds gross, but it was the happiest moment at the time). I haven't taken any more pain meds as it is tolerable. It feels like a lot of muscle pain, I do need help getting up as I am not superwoman. Maybe I don't have high tolerance of pain? But I do need help getting out of the recliner chair for now. As days go by, I am sure it will get better. I may piss off some people here with my way of speaking and I don't mean too. But I am irritable and hurting and I do speak my mind. I am very realistic. To have 85% of your stomach removed is considered major surgery and yes there is pain. I don't think it is normal to come out of the hospital doing jumping jacks and saying no pain whatsoever.. Who knows, I may be wrong, and so be it. But that is how I feel. I am trying really hard to get liquids down, as I was told, because of normal inflammation in the stomach because it has to heal, the size of the stomach right now is the size of a pen. It will stretch and get bigger as it heals. So, when I am trying to put liquids down I am careful, cause I can feel it backing up in my throat. I had like 3 teaspoons of scrambled eggs this morning and that is all I could do with out getting sick. I have to work on it slowly. @bewell- yes you will feel stinging around the incisions, specially the one that they took the stomach out through. Mine is on the top left side. When I stand up, I have trouble stretching and standing straight up because of the muscle pain. But practice will make that go away I am sure. The organs will feel like it is cramping up, it does to me. But that will also subside. Give it 2 more days, it should get better....keep in touch any time, we are in this together. Specially if you did it around the same time I did. We can compare. P.S. As for coffee, the bottom line is, coffee has no nutritional value. So why fill up your tummy with something not worth it to your body?

Sorry about the typos, i am on my phone

Unlesd they took it out before you noticed. But it is a little bottle that hangs from a tube. That tube is on you stomach muscle draining any kind of blood, liquid or puss that may be left in the stomach from surgery. It is t o leave it squeeky clean i guess, so mo infections occur.

Wow. Good for you.

Pac-woman replied to mal0712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right before surgery they asked of i had a tampon. You can't go in the operating room with anything but your naked self. -
I guess people who had more fat than muscle has less pain? Because what is hurting is all of my abdominal muscles. They even go into spasms.

Anybody have a gym routine that has worked? Want to share? ????

I have siatica can i still get surgery
Pac-woman replied to curious_girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With more reason to have surgery. Your bac pains could be from the weight your carrying. I had a similar issue but not so severe. At bmi 50, your definitely a candidate and most likely you have other issues that would be relieved with weightloss surgery. Go to your primary to discuss. If you have open access insurance meaning no referrals required...i would go straight to a specialized surgeon for bariatrics for a consultation. Not sure about that 400.00 upfront. What is that about exactly? -
I am on my 10th day on preop diet. I am surviving on 900 calories. For whatever reason i just dont want to eat. I am forcing down the shakes. I am scared of this surgery. Reality is setting in.

Hi adrianna, you will do just fine. If you have questions ask away as i am freshly done. Lol I can honestly tell you that the preop diet is hard but it prepares your body and mind for what's come. I get very nauseated with anesthesia. That was a very bad feeling. But they were quick to give me meds so i won't throw up. They dont want anything to hurt the new tummy. The second bad thing is the gas in your body moving and putting pressure. For what ever reason my gas loved to hang out in the chest area and back. It is temporary. That too will subside. If you burp the better. Lol Otherwise, the pain you feel is muscle pain as if you did situps to win the olympics. Goog God! But rest assured the little pump they give you to press for pain meds id awesome. I will be honest i have pressed it so it gives me that nice relaxing sleepy feeling. Enjoy it cause they take the pump away next day. Then they give you oral meds. Pump away! You can every 8 minutes. They got me to walk down the hallway and back. That helps with gas. Oh and ice chips will be your friend and tell your visitors not to make you laugh. Keep in touch!! ????

I don't know about anyone else, but....bathroom time is private time. There should be mutual respect. Sounds like he already adapted to have the freedom to walz in the bathroom while you are doing your business. Maybe it is a new practice you need to explore. Before you go to the bathroom ask him if he needs anything in there before you shut the door. My boyfriend knows better than to open the bathroom door if i am in there.

Side sleepers/body pillow

Body pillows are the best with or without surgery! -
Water...drink lots of water. Helps with the headaches temporarily. When one is in ketosis, chemicals are being released in the bloodstream. Flush it out. It is all i can do. I am not allowed anything but tylenol. Tylenol doesn't cut it for me either. I suffer from migraines.
