I am entering my second week tomorrow and I can tell you I would not be up for a vacation. Why? Because my calorie intake is about 200-450 a day. My drainage hole still hurts although it is healing and itchy. After 30 mins of walking I need to sit. I tend to get dizzy because I am wasting more energy and not replacing it fast enough food wise. But.... everyone is different. Just something to think about. If you do plan a vacation, maybe something that won't wear out your body since it is still healing and recovering.

Going It Alone - No Help After Surgery
Pac-woman replied to blondiebabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like an upside down turtle the first few days -
Whoever came on here and said that the surgery is no painful post, is not human. This shit hurts. I just come from being discharged. The act of taking out the drain bag was the most painful thing ever. Every time you try to get up, the pain reminds you what has been done to you. The car ride? Speechless. It does hurt. All of it. I even was wondering what the hell did i get myself into.

When the nurse took it out, it hurt like hell. Makes me wonder what the heck did she do? My BF had to hold me down from the pain. He said it looked like they stitched it really tight so it wont move. Somehow I dont by it. 6 days post and the one thing that still hurts is the drain hole. I have to hold my side when i walk.

Anyone what the right goal percentages are for a bariatric diet? Like how much fat, carb, Protein? Putting 100% protein is unrealistic because everything has some kind of fat or carb. Doing so will throw your numbers off.

my username is pugboston on there.

How long does it take for the swelling to go down, so you can swallow like a normal person? I am having a hard time getting my Water intake down. I am 5 days post op.

What's with all the "diet" food?
Pac-woman replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good Argument!!!! ( I am 5 days post surgery) so I can't wait to see the responses on this one. I can divide my whopper in 10 pieces. LOL Just Kidding. -
@@*Lexie* Amazing story. Things like this is a real eye opener. To think McDonalds will never admit that they are a big culprit. I know we have to have self control. But why feed and capitalize on poison?

I went in as outpatient, but then I stayed for observation (2nd day) because they want to make sure no leaks and all is okay. Third day by 10am I was out. Insurance don't pay for discharge days, so they want to get you out as soon as they can. So I guess, outpatient procedure (1 day) with one day of observation (2nd day). Every surgeon is different.

@@2/2015RN Well my friend, you were not far from the truth. LOL You will experience a liquid "mess" when you finally make it home. Your first few bowl movements will be interesting due to all the IV liquid they pump into you and a IV Vitamin bag. They hook you up with Vitamins for the next month. (At least mine did). But they gave me Pepcid for heartburn. I guess they know it is coming??! No constipation so far, as a matter of fact I can use some. lol And the nausea really goes away. That was more related to the anesthesia and the fresh surgery being done. It will subside. But if you haven't done the surgery yet and you know that you suffer from nausea after the anesthesia wears off (like me) ***VERY IMPORTANT** make sure the anesthesiologist knows this ahead of time. They will have a cocktail of meds for your nausea the minute they see you waking up. I remember this, all I could see was shadows in front of me and I couldn't talk but I kept pounding my chest because I had lots of pressure (gas) and the nausea was terrible. God aweful feeling. But they gave me that cocktail through IV and it went away quickly at the moment and off to sleep I went. Yes, they give you a pain pump and then take you off after a day and give you oral pain meds. You end up with percocet or close to it for home. Honestly, I only used it 3 times since I got home. What hurts the most is the gas. Once you pass that gas, you will feel a lot less pain. Just the kind as if you did a lot of situps.

I had no choice. Because of the type of job I do, I had to dress up nicely. I couldn't find anything nice and "modern" anywhere else. Regular stores have plus sizes, but my God, the kind of clothes they had was like grandma-ish or just looked like tableclothes to me. So Lane Bryant saved me for years and just in the recent year so did "The Avenue". The one place I refuse to shop at was "The Dress Barn". I draw the line to have to walk into a store called "Barn". I mean REALLY? I think realization kicked in when I found myself ordering from Lane Bryant.com and getting my clothes in the mail because I was just so ashamed of walking in there and knowing I had to get the next size up. I was so in denial. So yes, I can't wait till I call in and say thank you but no thank you! For once in a LONG TIME I would like to walk into a normal store and be able to grab a shirt and know it will fit.

I can't wait till i get to eat meat! I have not had solid foods since the 29th. That is 19 days!!! Ugh. I now know what they mean by head hunger. Stomach not hungry but your eyes and mind wants everything. Can't wait till i get to the point i can eat like a chipmunk and be satisfied. ????

I am on my 4th day post op diet and am struggling with eating. I am supposed to be on pureed food. I find everything so unappealing. I can only eat half an egg in the morning. I have had about a teaspoon and half of deviled ham. lunch i tried homemade pureed Soup and gagged. So i got baby oatmeal Cereal and added Protein powder. Thank goodness i bought the liquid Protein to add to Water called liquacel. I hope this gets better. Lost my appetite completely. I am starting to wonder...what did i do to myself?! ????

Struggling w/ post diet
Pac-woman replied to Pac-woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah he was very strict with the pre-op diet, liquids only. Now i see that i was able to go yo stage 3 on my second day home?? I did find that harsh. Not being able to do it makes me feel like a failure. But i think i am going to stick to just liquid stuff for a while until i think the tummy is more repaired. Thanks for cheering me on. I come here to vent i can't help it. But i left the house today and walked in 2 stores. Which is good. I know i have to walk more. -

It seems i was really miserable at the hospital. The morning shift nurse would only come in to give me a shot or take vitals. Didn't ask how i was doing, if i needed something, did i need to pee...nothing. She was a young girl, possible fresh out of school , nothing but giggles. Not once checked on my incisions. The night nurse was older and more experienced. Classic nurse. I really felt abandon with the morning one. I would call to get help to get up to pee. I had a bunch of cords tangled on me plus my legs had that pumping thing to keep blood flowing. I was tied up all over. I called for nurse and 20 min went by and nothing. So i got pist, probably hurt myself making force i shouldn't have, yanking the plugs off the wall so i can go pee. I had a bad experience at the hospital. Really. Feel so good to be home,
