Ibuprofen is going to hurt the lining of your tummy. Did they give you a list of drugs to stay away from?
  4. I think it is time for me to unfollow this thread. Somehow it went from help feedback to defensive responses. No one has time for that. Enjoy it among yourselves. Good day.

  8. I can tell you that my childhood friend hasn't even bothered to ask if i am out of the hospital or if i am okay. ( today is 8 days out). My skinny friend at work has not bothered to see if i am okay or not. When i get back to work, i will remember who is who.
  9. @@Stevehud Well said Steve. When I first started blogging on here after my hospital discharge, I felt like I was the weakest person on earth. Why? Because many on here stated they had no pain, no this, no that, and made it seemed as they just did headstands and flips when they got home. Made me feel like I was weak and a failure for a nano second. Then I said to myself screw it. Not everyone is the same. We all do have a different journey. I come on here to read about other people's thoughts. If it applies to me and I think it will do me good...heck why not. Otherwise, my surgeon and dietician are the educated ones at the end of the day because they were the ones to prep me, cut me, fix me and then guide me. So yes, let's try to respect some boundaries.

    pureed food! baby food?

Yeah I learned the hard way. It really wasn't worth the 3 teaspoons I had. It got tossed.

    pureed food! baby food?

@@aiso65 It has been rough for me cause cottage cheese, yogurt and ricotta cheese is something I am not a fan of. Honestly, I am sticking to Protein shakes, broth, and baby oatmeal Cereal, cream of wheat. I can't stomach anything else. I have tried eggs, boiled and scrambled....not happening. Then I tried to chop little pieces of ham (tiny) into scrambled eggs, that didn't work out. In my desperate attempt, I tried blending mac and cheese (thinking cheese is the protein) with milk, and nope that didn't work out. I did humms and a cracker and chewed it to death to make it mush, and so far that went down okay. Barely got in 3 crackers with the 2 tablespoons of hummus and I was done for the day. I think sticking to liquids until I go to next stage is what will work for me. Everything pureed grosses me out.

@@Zzzombrie That is why when they go down the list of meds when they are inquiring you have to tell them what works with you or not. Honesly, Percocet does nothing but relax me. Makes me feel like it is doing nothing. The good thing is I only needed it the first 2 days. After that, it is sitting there, a whole bottle of it. At the hospital they gave me liquid tylenol and I think my face turned green. It made me nauseas. So, they gave me Loratab instead. That knocked me out. But I am glad the prescribed Pepcid. I guess they anticipate that you will have heartburn because your stomach is adapting to food again. There will be things you can't eat that you did before. So far I noticed today that ham did not agree with me. I put so little of it in my eggs, but my stomach noticed right away. Ain't that weird?!

    Question about hospital stay?

@@laurenella82 Yes, I love how my surgeon handles things. I was prepped at 8am and surgery 10:30am. Then I was in recovery all day with my wonderful pain pump. The second day they had me on IV bags and alternate them with Vitamin IV bags. (I am set for a month, don't start Vitamins till the 12th of Feb). I did liquids on my third day before they discharged me. My 4th day home was beginning of pureed foods if I can handle. Went home with a script for percocet and pepcid. I see him in 2 weeks which will be the 28th. Mandatory ambulatory when I am home, they want us to walk as much as we can handle. So far, I have lost 10 pounds from the surgery and I feel good, no headaches whatsoever, considering I can barely make it to 300 calories a day. Everyday is a little better.

    Question about hospital stay?

@@laurenella82 I agree. People should stay at least 2 days, first day of and second day for observation. This is a major surgery whether some people are superwoman/man or not. From a health professional stand point, it sure is a high risk to mal practice if a patient is sent home after major surgery just a few hours of it being done. But hey...what do I know?

@@Eli Alexander HI Eli, no worries, you will do just fine. I was 14 days with no solid food before surgery....I guess it got me used to what was coming. Update us when you can.....all will go well!

You will be fine. It's a rollercoaster ride and hang on tight. You are excited to hop on...You are going to freak of the unknown, then you reach to the top (surgery), then it goes over the hump and down in speed (coaster going fast), there will be twists and turns you will laugh, hang tight, be in disbelief, then excited and before you know it your off the coaster. Then you will have a euphoric experience and say...i would do that again and walk away happy.
  17. There is absolutely NOTHING easy about a sleeve journey, pre or post. If anything, we work harder than an average dieter. Physically and most of all emotionally. Until your friend can dare to go on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, then bare the pain and triumph of holes in your stomach and recovery, teaching a new stomach to eat with out barfing, and then eating like a chipmunk for the rest of her life while having a exercise regimen...i think she needs to shut the heck up. And i am being nice here. Nothing more irritating than hearing a reformed fat person saying "easy way out". Glad you kicked her to the curb.

I had a catheter during the surgery and they left it for one day. Awesome when you dont have to get up to pee. When they took it out, i was peeing every 2 hours on the dot! From all the iv liquid. Don't be scared. It will all be okay. Promise.
  19. I can't stand premier, I think it is way to thick for me. Grosses me out. The oh yeah Protein powder you can get on vitaminshoppe.com and the vanilla creme taste like a melted mc donalds sundae. The Ensure high Protein Powder is pretty good and you can find that at walmart. The atkins has good taste and is not so thick. You can get at walmart or sams club Thanks for the suggestions! Do you think that these taste better/different from Premier? (Man, I so wish I liked Premier!)
