Any Nurses out there?
VASCRN replied to anniesebring's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 3 weeks off. -
I am down 50 pounds since October 22nd. It was a very rough time during the post op phase but I am doing fantastic today. I have basically donated my entire closet of clothes. I am now wearing a size 12 in jeans.....it has been a long time since I was this thin. Still have 40 pounds to lose but I am well on my way. I wish everyone else continued success.

What a wonderful journey. Good luck, and I wish you continued success. -
Can you ever eat "Normal" food again?
VASCRN replied to smoggie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 9 weeks out and was doing ok until the last week. The thought of eating eggs will make me sick to my stomach and I have been nauseated the better part of last week. I feel like I am regressing a little. Today, I had a yogurt, 3 bites of fish and for dinner 2 oz of pork roast and a few cubes of potato. Liquids are a struggle as well. I am going to have a protein drink to try and get hydrated and some protein in. Anyone else experiencing this.....I have NO APPETITE at all. -
Feet and hands are cold after surgery. Very strange.
-
Pills have so many harsh side effects. IMO, the roux n y would be very appropriate to help with weight loss and your medical issues.

I am 3.5 weeks post op and my energy is way up, so much that I am not sleeping. I cannot believe how much I have got done around the house. Feeling super productive and probably going to crash soon.

More difficulty in the evening?
VASCRN replied to NicoleSW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the opposit. Late afternoon and evenings were my best time. -
Thanks, I agree my food pas not puréed enough and may have been on the dry side.

Bariatric advantage.

I just mashed up some flounder and squash. I had a few bites and then had the most intense chest pain that lasted about 10 minutes. This is the third time I have had this happen when I try puréed foods. Anyone else experiencing this pain when eating?
-
That explains the blurry vision. Awesome information.

I had a cup of cream of potato soup from Panera yesterday. I picked out any bits of bacon and mashed up the potato. It went down and stayed.

starting to get depressed
VASCRN replied to cindyboo1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jonathan, you are so right. I have tried to follow the nutritionist plan until the point I was sick. I then called the doctors office and the first thing they said was, "I do not care about the protein, just stay hydrated" and it started to make sense. So now I try to get my meds and a couple tablespoons of cottage cheese for breakfast. Lunch is some some with protein powder and the vitamins. Little by little I manage. -
@@Bronxmerci, I am very sorry to hear of your struggles. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I know when we consent to surgery we really do not expect anything to be less than ideal. I am sure a feeding tube was not what you had in mind. Take care and stay positive.

I am from Windsor. I had my surgery in Michigan and paid out of pocket. I am 11 days post op and having lots of nausea and heartburn. Just started on meds to help with this. Also, having difficulty getting my required protein and fluids in. Improving little by little.

Looking for the other 1% er's. Having some depressing and dark days after major major complications

Very sorry to hear about your unfortunate hospital experience. Mine has not been perfect but not nearly anywhere near yours. I pray that you will continue to heal. Be well. -
October 22nd surgery buddies?
VASCRN replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is everyone crushing their meds or swallowing whole? -
Is anyone having a problem with heartburn? I am on Prilosec and still had heartburn all night.

My sister told me today that my breath stinks. She is a nurse and completely understands why it stinks.

VASCRN replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I am so impressed. I also had surgery on Oct 22 and had quite a bit pain initially then persistent nausea. Today is the first day I can keep fluids down. -
nauseous all the time
VASCRN replied to new start2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days out and have had constant nausea. Cannot drink anything but a sip of water to get down my meds. I have buyers remorse, big time. -
Wow, I am so happy for all you on here. I had surgery on October 22 and am still in the hospital. I have terrible nausea and have been getting medication around the clock. I hope to go home in the next couple of days. Right now I am experiencing buyers remorse.

For those on liquid diets now.
VASCRN replied to misstvb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 3 more days of the liquid diet and I have struggled. Yesterday, I cheated....3 oz of Hamburger patty and a slice of tomato. I seem to feel much better and resumed my liquid diet. -
