  1. My Vitamin shoppe takes them back for credit. Maybe they are independently owned and each makes there own rule. I always ask can I return especially Protein powders. GNC you have 30 days to return of course both place you need a receipt. I am sure GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe has me on a watch list for all the returns @disneydreamer I get the PE science at the vitamin shop. You can order on the internet as well. They have a new flavor called Blondie...suppose to be better than snickerdoodle, I haven't tried it yet.

    My story

Best wishes...it's the hardest but best thing I have ever done for myself.
  3. Ok....I'm super picky about the Protein shakes. I have tried tons of them. If you buy them at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC you can return them. GNC gives you a refund. Vitamin Shoppe gives you a credit. So far this is what I can tell you for sure: I can not tolerate any of the Bariatric fusion or Bariatric Advantage shakes. They are just awful. Celebrate has Soups which again are not to my liking. Very whey tasting no matter what I add. Protizyme taste ok but are thick. I add more milk and can stand the chocolate and Peanut Butter cookie flavor. I did not like the unjury shakes or soups at all. They were very gritty in my opinion. I can drink most of the Nectars except blue sky which last like dish Water. My favorite is the Fuzzy Naval. Dymatized ISO 100 chocolate and cinnamon bun are good and I don't have issues with either. The birthday cake by Dymatized is GREAT! My favorite overall is PE science Snickerdoodle. I can drink it, cook with it, add to oatmeal etc...It's by far my favorite. I add 12oz of fair life milk and get a whooping 44 grams of protein for one shake. I have not like any of the premixed shakes like premier. They all have a funny after taste. It's so individualized to specific taste. My spouse had the surgery 2 weeks after I did and can tolerate all of them. Good luck finding your drink of choice.
  4. Happy day! Today I reached half way to goal 50.4 lbs down and 49.6 to go!

The Rules: Do you follow them?

I follow the rules...it's my new life and I feel I need to give it my all. Not following the rules of a healthy life got me to the point of having the surgery! I do drink a little coffe at 3 months with my MD's blessing.
  6. I'm 54 so I'm right there with you all. My children are grown (yay). I work from home (yay again) I find life tremendously exciting. I love watching the pounds melt away. (slowly, but I am determined) I love that I can touch my toes - hell, see my toes. I bought a second hand bike. I downloaded the couch to 5K app (running sucks) so i can surprise my daughter by running with her. I love finding hiking trails in the local area. I can FINALLY do the things I have always wanted to do but couldn't! I am about the most non-athlectic person in the world but I am determined to make use of my transforming body. I think the fresh air and exercise helps...If I didn't have to work I would volunteer -animal shelter, hospital, nursing home, etc...You have done great with your weight loss keep up the good work. Find something that excites you...write a book...ride a horse...your just beginning the second half of your life...the BEST half as a healthier new YOU!
  7. I like the PE science Snickerdoodle. It's awesome. They also have one called Blondie that I have not tried. I have tried tons of shakes and just could find anything i could tolerate especially post surgery, everything was so sweet. Trust me your taste will change. Dymatized ISO100 is another one that doesn't make me want to hurl, chocolate and cinnamon bun. I agree that the Syntax Nectars are awesome as well. I like Fuzzy Naval Buy them places you can return if your unhappy. GNC and the Vitamin Shop both take returns. I'm sure I'm on the watch list as I have return tons of them. Get samples from companies and online retailers I've decided life is too short to drink bad tasting Protein. Good luck!
  8. @@Eclectick I could not drink the shakes post-op but my NUT kept after me to do so. I have tried and returned several in the past 3 months. I have finally found PE Science Snickerdoodle..OMG...so good, I could eat it by the scoop. I mix it with 12 OZ of fair life milk for a glorious 44 grams of Protein. I eat lunch that consist of a lean protein and a veggies...a nectar shake-fuzzy naval at the gym and then a small dinner usually cottage cheese, protein and veggie or yogurt. I usually end up at about 90 grams of protein and 500-600 calories. Put you Vitamins in a med box and carry them in your bag..set an alarm on your phone and take them. Always have a bottle or glass of Water with you and drink...This is the hardest thing I have every done and I have struggled but it's your life and your future. Take care of yourself. Be well!
  9. My post-op sucked as well. I felt awful. I stopped taking all the meds as I an super sensitive meds, the Dilaudid made me crazy. Once I got the crap out od my body and pushed myself to walk I felt so much better. I had my 3 month post op check today and told I was right on track. Keep you chin up it will get better!

    Sports Bras? Suggestions..........

Im a big girl on top so need support. Champion makes a great sports bra that has an underwire and isn't one of those pull over your head deals. I hate those especially when your sweaty. I also bought 2 Maia Moving comfort bras. They are mighty pricey but fabulous. Good luck!

My Story + No Support From Wife

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am one of the lucky ones. I had my sleeve on Oct 20th and my spouse had Roux en Y on November 5, so we are doing it together. I would speak honestly with your wife and encourage her to express her fears and why she is opposed. Be well and remember we are all here to support you!

    Clothes size question...

I was wearing a 16 -18 W. A few weeks ago I bought a 14 r at the local big chain store. This past weekend I went to the outlets and found shorts on sale for a ridiculous price and bought a 12 r while the 14 cheaper jeans still fit so do the better brand 12's. Try several different brands ll cut differently.

    Protein supplements and calcium citrate

I had the worst time with Protein when I started on food. I drink a Protein shake in the morning. I have had trouble finding one I could tolerate. I can drink ISO 100 chocolate, Dymatized Elite Cinnamon bun and PES Snickerdoodle. That's it, it's all I can drink. I add 10 ounces of a protein enriched milk so it gives me 40 grams off the bat. I drink a Syntax nectar - Fuzzy navel before the gym another 23 grams...woohoo now that's 63 grams for 2 drinks plus it gives you some Fluid -win/win. I get the remaining amount from high protein foods like tuna, chicken, greek yogurt, cottage cheese..etc. It took ma a while to embrace it and learn to get my protein. I down loaded a protein tracker app on my phone. Good luck! It takes a while but you will find your groove!

    11 Weeks Out - Discouraged

I am in the same boat...stalled but I am staying the course. This will work. I figure eventually I will win the "staring contest" with my body. I will keep making the right choices and going to the gym! This too shall pass.
  16. nursmate2

    The yo-yo effect?

I'm right there with you! I been up and down the last few weeks but I'm staying the course! Good luck!
  17. I am 2 and 1/2 months out. I have lost 44 pounds from pre-op. 10 of those pounds on the pre-op diet. I get around 500 - 600 calories a day. I eat Protein first at every meal. I work out 5 days a week 30 minutes cardio and 45 minutes of circuit training. I have gained the past three days after having not lost for several days. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but it's very disheartening. I call my NUT who said I should be getting 800 - 900 a day. I just can't eat anymore. She also said if I wasn't drinking the bariatric shakes I should go back to them. I drink one shake a day quality whey protein from GNC or Vitamin shoppe. I just don't know what else I can do. I just can't see how bariatric shakes can make a difference. I check the numbers carefully before I purchase...same or better numbers i.e. fat, carbs, calories....etc. I am at a loss. Any thoughts?
  18. nursmate2

    Trying to figure it out

Thanks for the thoughts! I will try the Greek yogurt and just keep on truckin! I know I am doing the right things for my body and have to stop stressing! Off to get some dinner protein!
