    Excited but scared

Similar story, heavy all my life and decided to try it on my own before I did anything drastic with surgery, that was about 60lbs ago. Now heavier than when I first started. Everything you listed are great reasons to want this surgery and even maybe need it. Your surgery date will be here before you even know it and you will more than likely dodge diabetes along with heart disease. Good Luck to you!
  2. Thank you @@ArtDLG but Bariatrix is basically a Protein shake, they have the powders, Soup mixes and puddings along with a few other things. Its a line like unjury or Lean Shake. I personally prefer the Lean Shake to the Bariatrix but by any means necessary. The main reason for the pre op diet is to shrink the liver since it is assumed most of us being obese have a fatty liver. While it may kill me to do this liquid diet for 2 weeks, I am more afraid of the surgeon going in and finding out when I wake up that he closed up because my liver was too big and fat to do surgery so I'm using that to psych myself out into completing this phase.
  3. My pre op is 14 days on Bariatrix, not the best tasting but I guess it'll get the job done.
  4. As I am about to get ready for work, another thing I will not miss is having to wear so many things under my scrubs. Everyday I have to wear a girdle and spanx underneath my uniform because scrubs are so light of a material, every lump and bump shows. It's bad enough I am hot already, but with the added materials and the fact that I try to keep a sweater on to hide my arms, it's just too much. I can't wait to be able to wear just a bra and panty with my clothes and not all these extra items.

    Oct 29th!

Mine is also the 29th, I am also starting my pre op tomorrow (wednesday). I am literally counting down the days, 15 more by the way! Good Luck to you guys also!
  6. I agree with mostly everything above, but most of all, I will not miss sweating excessively, throughout the years, the more weight I gain the more I sweat, I cannot even wear makeup to work because by the time I get there, it's all off and on my napkins. And I definitly won't miss the guilty feeling after stuffing my face. I would eat and eat and once I realize it's all gone, i'll feel horrible knowing I ate it all. Hate that feeling.
  7. My date is Oct 29, in Long Island, NY. I've been counting down the days. Begin my 2 week pre op liquid diet tomorrow, wish I didn't have to but no choice.
  8. Hello all, I am due to start my pre-op diet this wednesday. Yesterday I purchased everything I need and tried a shake for dinner last night and was so disappointed with the taste. My surgeon wants me to use Bariatrix and I hate it but will force myself to drink it because it's necessary. But I am wondering if I can use my nutribullet to make some fruit and veggie drinks and just add 2 scoops of whey protein in there. Anyone else do this? As much as I do not want to do this pre-op, I am so excited to do it because it's that much closer to my date but I just can't handle the taste alone and after spending $150 on the supplies, I refuse to let it go to waste. HELP!!!!

    Juicing on pre-op diet?

I'm supposed to have 4 shakes a day along with a Soup or Jello. They didn't really stress sugars or carbs, just the importance of having the 4 shakes a day. I am also thinking about maybe using 4oz almond milk and 4oz Water to mix with the shake. I'm just trying to do anything possible that will make me follow thru on this liquid diet instead of failing miserable like so many other diets i've tried.

6 month pre op no weight loss

I had to do a 3 month weigh in and my weight went up and down, month 1 was 283, month 2 was 293 and month 3 I weighed in at 285 and I was still approved for my surgery. I think it depends on your surgeon and PCP, not so much your insurance. Clearly we are gaining and losing all the time and that is why we need the surgery in the first place. I don't think you should worry at all. I think you should be excited instead that you are half way there...Good Luck!!!

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

I start my pre-op on the 15th and wondering if I should start with using the nutribullet in the beginning just to ease into everything. Anyone do this...did it work?

    October 2014

Just got the news, date set for October 29th!!! I am too excited right now. Everything is done, just have to start the liquid diet on the 15th and everything is a go...October is our month ladies and gents!!!!
  15. I can relate 100%, now that the only thing left to do is my endoscopy tomorrow and my final consolation on Tuesday to submit to the insurance company, I cannot focus on anything else. I have been up and down with my weight forever and ranged from a size 16-22 and actually arranged my closet today by size order so when I can fit a certain dress or shirt, I will know I hit a major milestone. I haven't even gotten approval yet and ordered my Isopure, pill crusher chewable Vitamins along with pack my hospital bag. I feel really obsessive but it's better than obsessing over food or another diet that will fail.
  16. Hey guys, I am also waiting...I finally got all my clearances done and scheduled to have my endoscopy in the morning then on Tuesday I have my final consult with the surgeon and they submit everything to the insurance, and to be honest, i am feeling so optimistic about it, I just know that the insurance will approve it and the doctors office said it could take 3-6 weeks. I can't wait to start this new life, good luck to all of you, and I'm sure the approvals will come falling out 1 by 1. many insurance companies would rather pay for this one shot than have to pay for medications and surgeries for a lifetime.
