@@Notinks Hi there! Just noticed you had your surgery the day before I did. How are you doing? My doctor wanted me to drink three Protein shakes, along with other fluids....impossible. I can manage two which gives me my 60 grams of protein. Forget getting in 64 ounces of Water....ain't happening. Have you tried making shakes with whey Protein powder? Each scoop is 30 grams of protein. I make it with unsweetened Almond milk, ice cubes, and some sugar free Jello or pudding powder added for flavor.....delicious. Are you taking chewable Vitamins? I take Bariatric Choice...four a day. You don't need added Calcium with these. Let me know how you're doing. Hugs

I'm rooting for you all. It'll be a wonderful change for your lives. I'm just four days post surgery and so excited thinking about the new numbers on the labels of the new clothes I'll need. Even though I'm at the other end of the age spectrum, almost seventy-one, we still all want to feel beautiful. I haven't been thin for over 38 years and I'm ready. It wasn't easy getting to the point you're at, we had to jump through lots of hoops, but I'm excited for you. It's soooooo worth it. Keep me posted on how you're doing. Hugs

Just had my by-pass surgery this past Tuesday the 16th of September. I know everyone's results will be different as well as their experiences. Myself, I find I cannot sleep comfortably in my bed as yet, so spend my night in my husband's cinema chair. When I lay down it feels like my insides are rolling around loose. Surgery went well, as I am an older woman, I was a little nervous about that. I am proud to announce of the six patients on the floor having by-pass surgery, I was the oldest and first to be discharged. Sorry, had to brag a little. Would love the support of others on this journey, so hope to hear from everyone. Hugs to all

Doctors weight loss goal at 5'7" (female)?
Angelyaya5 replied to cpower100's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@cpower100 I used to be around 5'9", but I think am now around 5'7" due to back problems and age. We all wear our weight differently. Some thought because of my weight distribution, I was being too radical having the surgery. My goal is to weigh around 145-150. Because I'm older, I cannot get down to the 130 pounds I used to weigh after having my children. I think I'd look like a refugee, (no offense intended). I just had the surgery four days ago, so I hope I don't get discouraged if my weight doesn't fly off like I'm expecting it to. I did have diabetes type 2, but my blood sugar this morning was 87. Whoohoo, that's a positive. Anyway, would love you to stay in touch, and travel this road with me. Hugs -
Hi All, Thanks for the good words. I would love to have some mentors along the way. I live in RI and have attended a support group once. I love the computer, am retired, but have none I know going through this journey. I don't want to be a bore to those who don't understand the "overweight psyche", as I call it. It's always nice to share with those who have had a like experience. I am almost seventy-one, and everyone says I don't look my age. I always loved Blanche on the Golden Girls, and I'm striving to be her, in her fabulous outfits. I don't know my present weight or starting weight, and won't until my first follow-up post-op appointment, which is on my birthday, October second. Anyway, hoping to make lots of new friends who are traveling this road with me. Hugs

Hi ladies, I just had my surgery this past Tuesday and will be seventy-one in a couple of weeks. Would love to keep in touch with you all. I find I cannot sleep in my bed as yet and am more comfortable in my husband's cinema chair. When I lay down it feels like my insides are rolling around loose. I am still on the liquid diet, so am looking forward to next week hoping I can tolerate some cottage cheese, which I absolutely love! Since you're both post- surgery would love to hear how you did if you can remember. Love to cook, garden, read, craft, travel, etc. Having a B & B was one of the things I considered. Love to meet new people. Hope to heR from you. Hugs

Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.
Angelyaya5 replied to angelicHG7's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, Just had gastric by-pass this past Tuesday the sixteenth. In on Tuesday out next afternoon. Noticed comments re vitamins, Gas X, Tums, etc. I take four chewable vitamins which contain most everything you need. No extra Calcium needed. They're called Bariatric Choice and I buy them on-line. There are several different favors. For my protein shakes I buy Whey Protein at Wal- mart for about $18.00 a container. Mix with eight ounces thirty calorie almond milk, ice cubes and for flavoring you can add sugar-free pudding or jello. Pretty good tasting, since this is my meal for the next week. I am an older woman, almost 71, so my children are grown. I do have three 75 pound Boxers to protect my stomach from, though. Let me know how you're all doing. Hugs -

Angelyaya5 replied to Brenda Witte Evans's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Brenda, Just had my surgery the day before yours on the sixteenth. Would love to hear from others too. By now you must be home and on your liquid diet. How are you feeling? The first few days are the hardest. I went out for a ride yesterday and every time my husband went over a bump in the road it was an experience.LOL Every day gets better, make sure you move around frequently. As I am an older lady, almost 71, I expect my recovery to be different from someone in their 30's. Take it slow and let me know how you're doing. Hugs
