So far I have had a great experience. My surgery is on Nov. 25, so I'm just trying to see what the surgery and hospital stay are like. How long was your hospital stay, and surgery? -
$600 Bariatric Program Fee
chicogirl3 replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well the good news is ill get it back with taxes. I've kept track of all of my out of pocket expenses, and should get it all back. And I'm happy with my doctor. Both he and the hospital have been awarded the center of excellence. And it makes me feel better that he is the chief of surgery, and his partner is in the operating room to assist. So I get two bariatric surgeons. It gives me a piece of mind. His office also runs a lot of support groups, pre and post procedure. BUT, it did give me pause when I heard the price, and made me a little sick to my stomach when I handed the money over. -

November 25th for me. Pre op diet on the 15th, and pre op exam on the 10th. So no thanksgiving for me, but that's ok. Now I'm just in the waiting game now. For those going ahead of us, please let us know how it goes. Good luck everyone. -
Question about insurance
chicogirl3 replied to natedinsmoor2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. And I was told that it was not decided yet, but gave me the day it would be. And from that time on I was not so worked up about it. That great thing was they contacted my doctor a day earlier then expected. So now I have a Nov. 25 th surgery date. If it makes you feel better, go for it. -

Remember, don't listen to what others think. They are not in your shoes. If this is what you want, and you think it's best for you, then do it. I myself am turning 40 this month, and am at the heaviest myself, my doctor talked to me about my health, and we both determined that this was best for me. I have already lost some weight to prepare myself for this surgery. I'm eating about 1000- 1200 calories a day, and stopped all caffeine. I wanted to prepare myself for that dreadful prep diet. Just remember these people are not you. Good luck. -
Annoyed and disappointed
chicogirl3 replied to rhayla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should check with the lab, every one I've worked for you could do a payment plan. That is if you haven't payed yet of course. Most hospitals and doctors will have payment plans as well. Hope it works out for you. -

I do t know about this protein, but I use premire Protein shakes. They are 30 gm of protein for 8 oz and they come in chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. I get them at costco, but I've seen them at Walmart to. -
I just got my surg date. November 25 th. I'll have to cancel my thanksgiving plans, but that's ok. At least I'm not hosting this year. First theme in 5 yrs. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

I buy Bariatric Advantage through my doctors office. I'm not sure if you can get it online or not. But I do add it to my water. It's not bad, but you have to mix it well.
-
I do Bariatric Advantage non flavored to add to Water or other things. And Premier shakes from costco. Once I figure out my surgery date then I start the two week liquid diet. I will be only allowed liquid. No solids. I do two to three shakes a day, plus a light dinner. I'm using anywhere from 900 to 1100 cal a day.
-
I have blue shield. I have all of my requirements done, just waiting for the insurance. I'm already starting on protein shakes and a light dinner. So far 10 lbs off in 3 weeks. I'm trying to get myself ready for the pre surgery diet so I'm not so shocked by it. Also cut out all caffeine. Worst 3 day headache ever.

The wait is driving me crazy! I just want the insurance to come back with a yes, so I can set up my surgery date. My deductible is met, and I'd like it done before the new year, because it 100% covered. Otherwise it's back to 6000 out of pocket.

Yes. North valley surgical ass.

Chico, I should hear from the insurance co. on 8/24. Crossing fingers. I'm seeing Dr. Simcuk. Anyone have surgery with him, if so how did it go? Getting nervous.
