laurenella82 replied to DevilAngela13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 2-3 hours. I was also told that open procedures are shorter, ,around 90 minutes. -

Congratulations! Awesome, inspiring story!! I am 21 days away from my surgery and starting to get jitters so posts like this help me remember that the reward is greater than the risk! God bless you on your journey. Lauren -

Right! I'm waiting for my pastor.to ask me what kind of surgery. I call him dad too. His kids and I grew up together so they are like my second family.

How much were they at Sam's club? They were on sale for $19.99 at Costco.
-
Yes, it is a blend. But it's on the list my nutritionist gives. She says it's very popular too. This goes to show, every provider is different.

I think that no matter what protein you use, you have to use something additional to get rid of that awful taste it leaves behind. I read in the packet I got from my pre op class that you can try sugar free jell-o powder in your shakes. Specifically orange flavor added to the vanilla shakes to make it taste like a creamcicle. I can't wait to try that one!

Has anyone ever used extracts to flavor their shakes? My mother suggested it and it sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure if it's okay to use them.

Folgers has flavors for coffee that is 0 cal, 0 sugar.....I tried it in my chocolate Premier Protein shake this morning (hazelnut flavor) and it's GOOD!!!!!!!!! If you've ever had a hazelnut macchiato from Starbucks, it kind of reminds me of that. It used to be my favorite before my bank account denied my Starbucks habit lol! Just wanted to share if anyone is tired of plain ole chocolate!

5 months post-op, 110 lost! Pics!
laurenella82 replied to hmk715's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
How exactly did you do it?? Because your HW is 3 lbs higher than mine and you ate just 5" taller than me. I didn't think that kind of loss in 5 montgs was possible! I'm 3 weeks away from surgery and seeing this again is extremely motivating to me! -

Most of the stories I've heard about peoples loss have been really great. They have lost a lot more than the average. I have a friend who lost all of her excess weight in 10 months. Everybody is different but it is absolutely possible for you to lose way more than 60 pounds. They have to give you averages but you will find that most people lose more. -

Hope you feel better soon! Get some rest! -
Hope you feel better. I had the same flu like symptoms last week for 3 days. The 4 th day I was just about back to my old self. Day 2 was death! Drink as much as possible and see a doctor about that ear. Ear infections can go away on their own but meds will kick it's butt lot faster!

I was getting the Thai ginger broth to see if I like it and I saw this too so I picked it us as well. You add 2 tbsp to 1 cup of Water for 15 calories. Has anyone tried it before?
-
Have you tried this broth?

I didn't see those when I went to the grocery store. I'll have to check Walmart and Whole Foods. They sound good!! -
BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)
laurenella82 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes!! Specifically for vitamins. Chewable, powdered, and liquid. And yes to the autoship. It would also be awesome if you sold the sugar free syrups that we can use in our shakes.....and protein water. One stop shopping!! -
I sent her an email but I wanted to poll the forum too.....I'm so impatient lol
-
I think I mentioned that I'm not normally a vanilla lover when it comes to protein shakes. I bought 2 cases from Costco so that I can put the sugar free syrups in to change the taste up. I tried it plain today and I have to say, I think I like better than the chocolate. It kind of reminds me of a vanilla milk shake. I am going to try both of the shakes in the blender with some ice and possibly some instant coffee. I put Folgers's hazelnut coffee flavor in my chocolate and it reminded me of the hazelnut macchiato from Starbucks. Today is day 3 of my pre-op diet and I did horribly the first 2 days! smh but today I got in 90g of protein from shakes and protein water!!

Another thing...if you have small children and have a baby bullet, that's great for pureed foods. And it cones with a tray if tiny containers with tops that you can freeze. I have one and I was just about to give it to my sister in law. She can have it when I'm done lol -

That would keep it longer without freezer burn. I think that's an awesome idea. I might have to look into one too! -

You can do the same prep you do now with your crock pot. I stead of cooking and freezing things just put full meals in a freezer bag and in the morning before work.put it in the crock pot and dinner will be ready when you get home. You'll probably have more than you need for just one meal but you'll have lunch for the next day with no extra cooking. -

Cook everything in a muffin tin!!!! Go on piterest and look up muffin tin meals and you will find a lot. You can make the meals and then freeze them. That way you don't waste food and you are always prepared. I especially love mini quiche for breakfast made in my muffin tin. Make 12 freeze them and pop them in the microwave when you're ready for it. -
I have told some people and I have decided not to tell anyone else because I don't want to have to explain it a thousand times. What I find is that people who have never had a struggle with their weight think that it's as simple as eating right and exercising for everybody and it's not!. People who know nothing about WLS will tell you all the things they heard other people say and never take the time to research it themselves. What I would say to you is to stop explaining and just ask that those who know be supportive and those that don't, let them guess about it and admire your progress and hard work!
