Is the pre op diet needed?
laurenella82 replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to do some research on food addicts anonymous. To be successful with the surgery, your mindset and relationship with food has to change. Go to foodaddicts.org and look into the good addicts book. I have attended a meeting in ny area and plan to continue after surgery. Even though most of the stories I heard were extreme, I was Enlightened about a lot and I've changed my mindset about food. Surgery is not going to help if you aren't going to do the work. -
That is awesome!!! Did I tell you I sing too? Lol! I know you will do so good this weekend!!

Less than 1 week pre op and beginning to get nervous...
laurenella82 replied to graceday32001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also scheduled for 10 Feb. I am the first surgery of the day too. I am not as nervous as I thought I would be. I'm more nervous about life after the surgery than I am about the actual procedure. I did have a moment where I thought that maybe I could do this on my own since I have lost 20 pounds in the 3 weeks I've been on the pre-op diet. Then my dad brought home my favorite chips and that thought quickly exited my mind! lol! But it's surgery and surgery can be nerve wrecking. But I believe the reward will be much greater than the risk. I don't know if you are a praying woman but if you are, Give it to God and rest easy, if you aren't, do whatever you normally would do when you need to calm your nerves. You will be so grateful you did this!! God Bless and see you on the losers bench!! -
This post is completely because I needed to tell someone how anxious I am to start my life anew! I can't wait to have this surgery!!!! It was really nice on Sunday to see that I had some clothes that are too big....just a month or so ago the pants were so tight I thought I was going to split them with every step I took. But I need to see half...if not all of my wardrobe (as small as it is) to be too big! I keep getting headaches trying to deal with this pre-op diet. I'm hungry as hell and tired! Some days are better than others but today I just feel like, if my surgeon's office called me today and told me to come in tomorrow for surgery, I would be good with that! I'm just ready to get it done!!!!

How Long Will It Take
laurenella82 replied to Possum87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on the insurance and the practice. I started the process at the end of September and my surgery is 10 Feb. I had a 3 month supervised diet to do per my insurance. Had I not had to do that I could have probably had my surgery in November or December depending on the surgeon's schedule. -
Stall from Hell- 1 Pound from Goal

Are you unhappy at 131 or this a competition to beat the scale? I've not been sleeved yet but in the past I focused so much on the scale that I sabotaged myself. Either I was sick from not eating or I gave up and just went back to the bad habits. Congrats on your success!!!! -
Ain't nobody got time for that! LOL just kdding I haven't. Just wanted to comment on your post! How are you??

I'm 20 lbs down (still 1 week pre-op) and yesterday I put on a sweat suit that fit me pretty well 2 weeks ago and my mother looks at me and laughs. She said I looked like I had on my uncle's sweatsuit.....my uncle is easily 350 or more!! -
God Bless!!! and Congrats!

@@jmccape how much had you lost?

I have cheated more than I would like to admit. I've mostly done right, 3 shakes a day and around 50oz of water (they count the shakes in my liquids) but that one meal sometimes isn't within the guidelines (4oz lean meat, 2 cups veggies). I have decided that for this last 7 days, I am going to try to do all shakes and water, maybe a pickle (because I am allowed those for snack and they are delish!!) I pray my liver shrinks enough!

Slimies??

8 more days!! And today I got a message that my surgery is now at 0730 instead of 1100 and I have to be at the hospital at 0530!! Hella early but I'm sooooooo excited!!

Getting closer to surgery date, having problems seeing....

...myself as a thin person. I think that in the past I have failed so much that my brain is trying to sabotage me before I've had the chance to even try. It's not going to happen...I WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!! But it is really hard for me to envision myself differently. I can't wait to see what I look like 2 months from now, 5 months from now, 8 months from now, a year from now. I went through some clothes today that I had set aside for my post surgery loss and I didn't want to throw away all the new clothes I bought this time last year for a cruise...but they were all 3x and 22w sizes. I had some really cute dresses that I had a hard time parting with. Including the one I wore to my brother's wedding....I almost cried over that one. Why didn't anyone tell me how emotional that would be?? lol Oh well....my rant of the night....thanks for reading lol -
So surgery is on 10 Feb ( my beautiful grandma's 91st birthday!!). I had labs done back in October and my cholesterol was elevated and I was pre diabetic. I'm ending week 3 of my pre-op diet and I've lost about 15 pounds. Just had those same labs done over on Tuesday and guess what.....EVERYTHING IS NORMAL!!!!! It's amazing what a little weight loss can do for your overall health! Makes my upcoming rebirth more exciting!!!

Energy Level Poll of the recently sleeved

#sms724 ..50 g Protein seems low. I've not been sleeved yet but my post op instructions say that I should be getting at least 60 but shoot for 80-90 maybe up to 110. I get 90+ in now. 90 from shakes and about 20 from the one meal a day I can eat. Is 50 what your doctor recommended? -
I freaking did it!

I did keep some things to have taken in but the dress from the wedding I wouldn't want to have taken in. It would be easy for my mom to make. -
Advice needed. Did you do the emotional work after weight loss surgery?
laurenella82 replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not yet had surgery either but the journey thus far has taught me a lot about myself. Despite my issues with the psych doc I chose to do the evaluation, he said a lot that opened my eyes to my habits and tendencies. Knowing more about me has made my prayers different. Having friends and family who are supportive prayer warriors who don't care what I think and will tell me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear is a huge plus for me on this journey. I have also been introduced to food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous and though I've only been to one meeting so far, it was an extremely eye opening experience. I try to live by the serinity prayer and the Lord's prayer. It's funny, I started putting g those prayers together 20 some years ago as a child when u went to support a family member in alcoholics anonymous. I didn't fully understand their power until recently and they are a great comfort for me. -

@@Pac-woman I was thinking about dresses too. I would love to have some wrap dresses because they kind of adjust with you. I used to have 5 or 6 when I was like a 12-14 but that was like 10th grade lol -
