Heyyy, anybody in the Washington,DC area?
laurenella82 replied to laurenella82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Was that for the actual surgery or for a consult with the surgeon? I certainly hope the wait isn't that long now. They haven't been told anything about a wait. If turns out to be easier than my c section then I'm golden. Aside from having to be put to sleep because I felt her cut me, it wasn't so bad. Very little pain/soreness. -

Cool! I'm going to have mine at GW. When was your surgery? -
I had the same thoughts as I was on vacation last week looking into three wall sized mirrors around a bath tub. I almost cried. I like what you said, I HAVE fat, I am not fat. Just like I HAVE fingernails but I am not fingernails. It's good to have a different and positive perspective on it. No surgery date yet. But I'm hoping and praying I'll have it soon.

Can you choose your goal weight or does it choose you?

I have no desire to be within my healthy BMI range. I'm 5' and my "healthy" weight per the BMI chart is 94.7-128 pounds....no thanks! 140-145 is good for me. But I usually focus more on clothing size and a 6 or 8 would be perfect for my height. -

Sounds so good....except for the chickpeas. For some reason they ALWAYS come back up if I eat them whole. I have no problems with hummus though ???? -

Agreed! But it still weighs the same lol. I even had a personal trainer tell me that a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat smh. My silly behind believed him for a while too ???? But If you look at 2 people who weigh the same and are the same height they could look completely different from one another. They may even wear different sizes. It's a question of the muscle to body fat ratio.

Do you tell people you had Weight Loss Surgery?
laurenella82 replied to nolongerhere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah you do have to be selective in who you tell. Although I don't mind talking about it, I don't need advice from someone who hasn't been through this or who is not a medical professional on my surgeons team. -
Has anyone ever made a vision board to put up in your home to keep you on track? I think I'm going to do this for myself. I need a co stand reminder of why I'm doing what I'm doing.

I pray I don't have a lot of pain. I really don't remember the pain from my c-section except that I think it felt more like soreness than actual pain. And I took pain meds but they didn't help the soreness. I do remember that I couldn't laugh or cough without doubling over in pain. But even that only lasted a few seconds.

Lol @ the pic of your @$$ on the fridge. I find it funny because I thought about doing the same thing but my friends might think it's a but strange when they come to visit. Plus my 3 year old son might be scarred for life ????

I'm that person who doesn't kind talking about it bum not telling everybody but once I do have the surgery I wouldn't be opposed to telling some people if they ask. HOWEVER, you have to do what's comfortable for you. You don't owe anyone an explanation. If it's not something you don't care to tell people then when they ask simply accept the compliment and then tell the truth "I've changed my eating habits" or you can simply tell them "it's personal". OR, do like me, when I don't want to talk about something I change the subject lol! Good luck! -

Yes yes yes! I'll take skinny jeans in a 4 or 6 and some mid calf boots....I'm only 5' tall and knee high boots would make me look like a little girl wearing mommy's tall boots lol -
