Psychiatric Evaluation

That's exactly what I thought. It's about money. But he said he had questions for my insurance company. If he calls them they might tell him he has to write it up from today's appointment because they won't pay for another one. -

Why do people think muscle weighs more than fat???? A pound is a pound. It just looks different. If I took a scale and put a pound of cotton on one side and a one pound weight on the other side it's going to be even. It's just going to LOOK different. A pound is a pound is a pound!

Thank God! That's terrifying! I used to work on a military base and I live near the Navy Yard. I've experienced that active shooter lock down and heightened security stuff. It's nerve wrecking! Glad you can get some sleep now. I pray for a peaceful night!

When you measure your progress, are you focused more on the scale or your clothes? In the past I did weight watchers and they focus a lot on the scale. But my size and the scale usually don't agree. My size is normally more a confidence booster.

Do you tell people you had Weight Loss Surgery?
laurenella82 replied to nolongerhere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think that for me it's a help for me to be able to tell people (if they ask). My mom has a coworker that has become a friend to me because she was open and honest with me about her surgery. She and I started talking about it in July and I finally took the first step in September. Her story and her experience (much like the ones on here) have helped me a lot in my decision making and in keeping my expectations realistic. I'd like one day to do that for someone so I'll be open about it. -

Sensible shoes are the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the fact that if it's not pretty much flat I can't comfortably wear it! I used to be shoe queen now I just wear shoes that are comfy...and usually ugly! -

It is! Yes I've started. I I should be done with everything on Thursday. Once I'm done I'm gonna find out how long I'll have to wait for a date or if they can schedule it now. I'm hoping my psych provider can give me a copy if the eval by Friday. Everyone else is at GW and all of the information is in their internal system. -

The NUT said 4 weeks. But now I'm really considering changing surgeons so I can get it done sooner. -

I've got this dress in my closet that's a size 14. It's a denim gown I ordered for a show about 10 years ago and I didn't wear it because it was too small. So I ordered it in a 16 and never sent the 14 back. But I want to get into it just so I can take a pic to show that I finally got into it! -

It's $350 for one group class. The individual visits were covered. I have to get more details about it when I see her Thursday. I don't have straight Medicaid it's Amerihealth DC an affiliate or something. But they only require 3 months. -

How long did it take you to get your approval and surgery date? And how long was the pre op diet? -

I have my psych eval tomorrow and my last NUT appointment Thursday. Then I'm ready for them to send it to the insurance company. One thing I don't really understand is the $350 charge for some nutrition class that I have to do prior to surgery. Is that normal or just something GW does? -

I have Amerihealth DC (Medicaid) so I wouldn't be surprised if they take the full 2 weeks. But I'm staying hopeful that it won't. I'll ask the navigator about scheduling prior to insurance approval when I call her to let her know I did everything. My BMI is 58 so I really don't think I'll be denied. -

I'm super impatient about it right now lol. So if I have to wait like that I may just find another doctor. Maybe at Washington Hospital Center. I would LOVE to have it done before the new year but I'm probably pushing it. -

Hmmmm...maybe this is a different person. Or she got reported and is nicer now. She's fine with me. Our conversations are less formal and more like I'm talking to a friend. She's been really helpful and encouraging. She also told me that it takes the doc a week to get the info out for insurance approval and 6 weeks for them to approve (though she did tell me off the record that it's never taken my insurance more than 2 weeks). I'm hoping it won't take the entire week to send my stuff off.
