How much time off for the surgery ?
laurenella82 replied to Dsteele89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by the surgeon anywhere from 2-6 weeks but that depends on if there ate complications. But I have a friend who had her surgery on Wednesday and way back to work by monday. As for people at work, to include your boss and HR department, it's not their right to know what type of surgery you are having. If you don't want to lie ( though its not a bad idea for people who are pushy lol) simply tell them it's personal. -
For Fun: Beautifying for surgery....

Does the sugar hurt less? I tried waxing my legs once and I got one little patch off and grabbed a razor to finish. Lol I will probably shave (or veet) everything and get my hair braided or something so I don't have to bother with it after. -
New Years party in this IV bag

Lol! Happy New Year!!! -
Yesterday I got a call from the case worker at my surgeon's office saying that my insurance company approved me for surgery!!!!! I didn't even know that they had submitted it. This means the decision came back in less than a week!!! I haven't gotten my date yet though. Because of the holiday I may not hear from the scheduler for about a week. She was on vacation and is now playing catch up.

Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
laurenella82 replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Your examples are a world away from going to a friend and saying "you're fat" or "you've gained weight" or even "dang last year you were so fat, you look great now" those are not things I want my friends to say to me and they won't! But if my hair color is a mess or my clothes don't fit properly.....I can take that. But I struggle with my weight just like all of us here and to point it out is offensive -
Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
laurenella82 replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My good FRIENDS would NEVER call me fat! Just like I wouldn't say anything like that to them. Suggesting we go for a walk, yes, suggesting we go to the gym together, yes! But flat out calling me fat...NEVER. If that's your relationship with your friends then great for you but that's not normal in everybody's life -
Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
laurenella82 replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
She put a disclaimer on her post that she wasn't calling anyone here an ass. But I think that it is merely a matter of opinion. No one is allowed to call me fat. True or not it's offensive. It's like calling a gay man a fag. Some people don't care about it and to them it's just a word but to some it's an offensive word. I'm 5 feet tall, being short doesn't bother me so being called shorty or whatever doesn't offend me. But on the other hand being fat does bother me so for someone to put emphasis on that is rude and offensive. If it doesn't bother you that's fine but just like I can't make you understand how I feel and you can't make someone else understand how you feel. -

The ortho surgeon said I was not a candidate for surgery. Apparently it's not that bad yet. That's why I am so anxious t have VSG. -

Hey! It really sucks that they lied to you! I'm sorry to hear that. No, as far as I know, it has not been submitted to insurance yet. The case worker is pretty good with sending me emails with updates. The last one I received was that the surgeon has gotten the chart to approve. He has to approve it before it's sent to the insurance company. I got that on 22 Dec. I expect that it will be sent to the insurance company next week. I should get an answer about 15 days after that.

Yup...that was me when I was working plus a space heater. The only time I'm not cold is when I'm sleeping. That's because I sleep with a sheet and two blankets.

I've not had surgery yet but just look at it this way, would you have been able to lose 68 pounds in 4 monthd without the surgery? Shoot, 40 pounds in 4 months would be a stretch for some. So 68lbs...WAY TO GO!!!

What an awesome hubbub you have!!! I've been looking for some like that! (I'm always cold and haven't been sleeved yet....is it really gonna get worse?? :unsure:Lol)
