    Slow Losers - Unite!

Hi all. I'm thinking I'm going to be a slow loser as well. I was banded 9/19/07 and have barely lost 13 lbs. I checked the Sept 07 weight loss post and looks like I'm way behind. I did lose 30 lbs presurgery, so I hope I still fit in here! I have only had one fill and found out today that I can't get in until 1-15 so I'm really looking for some support. Thanks for reading:help:.

Vicky, that is GREAT news about your surgery! Congrats! What a nice 'early' Christmas gift. You should be very mobile by Christmas, so thats a real bonus! Take care..b

    2 Months Out Today.

Hi. I'm at two months today too. I was wondering if the 'pre' surgery weight is included in everyone's totals? I've lost 14 since surgery but 30 before, so I don't know how I fit in..? Right now I don't feel like I even have a band! I've had one fill and looking forward to my next one on 12-14.

First fill went great. I have 4.5cc (3.5cc at surgery). Kind of a wierd process, but so worth it. I just HATE the drive home on a Friday night. It took 3 hours. My next appt is at 10am, so I think I'll go over the night before and sleep in! Any ??s just let me know! Have a great weekend everyone! ;)b

    first fill

Hi Marcy. I just got back from getting my first fill and wanted to let you know it was pretty easy. My dr didn't numb me, he said it would be ANOTHER shot, so we tried it without and it was fine. It was a quick stick, but didn't hurt. Its nothing like getting a shot, because the liquid goes into the port, not your tissue. So, all I really felt was pressure at the band site, I guess.. He pulled all the saline out and then inserted a little more. He even went in a second time to give me a full 1cc. I already had 3.5cc in at surgery (I didn't know that) so now I'm at 4.5cc. I am not expecting agressive fills, so as of right now, 5 hours later, I am feeling normal. I am on liquids for two days then mushies, so it will be awhile until I test my fill level. So don't worry yourself too much. Just take some deep breaths and keep telling yourself that it will all be worth it in the long run! Good luck! b

I forgot to add that when you get to your room you will be dying of thirst. I asked for some sponges on a stick to dip in ice and rub on my teeth and tongue. I didn't actually drink the water, I spit it out when my mouth was moistened. The hardest part was waiting until the next day to have anything to drink. The next morning you will have your flouroscope which is very interesting. Just use your pain pump before you head off and it should be a breeze.</p>

    Anyone From Sacramento?

Hi there! Oh everything is going to be just fine. Once you find out your appt time, you go to the admission office and then they come get you to get prepped. You will be given some booties and a gown and then they will get your IV going. Once thats all done they will bring in whoever is there with you and then its time to go to the OR! Its all quite quick once they start the IV, as they give you anti-nausea meds and something to calm you. Then its nighty night until the recovery room. I think it was about 5 hours from the time I checked in until I was in my room. Make sure to use your pain pump BEFORE you feel pain/soreness. I really felt good afterwards. They also will walk with you the first time out of bed. It was all pretty uneventful for me! Who is your Dr? I had Alami and he was wonderful. The staff were all really nice. One thing I suggest is to bring ear plugs for the night. I had them close my door so I could sleep, but my earplugs worked for all the incoming nurses through the night as well. Its going to be a piece of cake (sorry about that). Take some deep breaths and know that you have prepared for this and now its time! I wish you lots of luck and good thoughts. Once you are home drop me a note and let me know how it went! Talk soon! Brenda

    Anyone From Sacramento?

Hi there. I just found this site and see that some of you are with Kaiser SSF. I had my lap band surgery on 9-19-07 with Dr. Alami. I go for my first fill on Friday 11-9. If you have any questions, please let me know. Although I'm a 'newbie' here, I spend alot of time on the Obesity Help web site and find that format more user friendly. I look forward to talking to you all!
