    bad halloween candy

I've never been a big fan of candy. If there was one it would be Reese's. As long as they aren't around I'm fine...though I don't think I'd be tempted even if they were in front of me. Why take the chance?

    Excess Skin

We are/were overweight. By definition we have excess skin . I believe it's different for everyone as to how it would look after major weight loss. There is always surgery if its bad. To WL's point...don't worry about it now. It is what it is. The benefits out weigh what excess skin will look like after weight loss. Good luck and best wishes!

    Hunger...the BEAST is back!

Bring no bad for you food into your home! Fortunately the hunger should be easily satisfied. Make sure the "hunger" is not actually thirst...drink plenty of water. Im working out so much now that I can tell my body want more calories. I just know as long as I can tell that then my body is burning fat. I'm losing a pound a day and I'm just over 3 months out and over 100 lbs lighter!

    Surgery prep

I was pretty excited once I made the decision. There was nothing special I did to prep mentally for it. I believe there's enou info in these forums to help you know what to expect. No regrets!

    Best and worst "compliments"

Good: you look 10 years younger. Not good: you look like you've lost weight, but not that much! (After I told him how much I lost after asked). Of course we are old friends in which honesty is not an issue. Still sucked.

    Traveling back home after surgery

The never ending supply of comfort and soul food everywhere. I'm from a North Carolina/Virginia family. I loved the country cooking, but my tastes have changed post surgery. I don't even miss it. I even tried a bite of a biscuit and was happy by how let down I was by the taste and texture. When I'm around the big home cooked meals I'm thinking how Good a Greek Yogurt would be. lol.

    Weight lifting after surgery

Discuss with you surgeon! I started exercises that didn't place any strain on the torso first (arms and legs). I'm working up from there. Just listen to your surgeon.

    HELP

I tried several hardy soups. I just strained the solids out. That helped give me a good variety of flavors during the first two weeks.

Ability to drink alcohol post-op, your experiences?

Giving up beer was my only fear with the surgery. The surgeon told me it's not the beer it's the carbonation. I have switched over to a margarita or liquor and sugar free mixer. It hasn't been bad at all. I only drink alcohol once every week or two. I've had no problems and I feel the effects quicker, so Its cheaper. The one difference is that no eating while drinking or you get too full to do either.

    It's getting real now

It was decided to scheduled in under 2 months. Sorry I left that out and I can't figure out how to edit my post.

    It's getting real now

It sounds real to me. I was blessed with great insurance that didn't require most of the pre-requisites many face. My surgery was approved and scheduled from my decision to pursue it. It was almost like a whirlwind. I had no time to get cold feet and haven't regretted it. Keep up the excitement...your life is going to change.

To carb or not to carb

My dietician has directed me to eat my protein first then if I have room to eat vegetables. I rarely have room. When we were discussing post op diet I told her I was well versed on low carb diets Atkins and South Beach. My one cheat is a margarita once a week since I can have beer anymore. I don't even want sweets or junk anymore. Eating is a chore now...for which I'm thankful.
