I've lost 15 lbs. Awesome, huh? I was pretty tickled ... UNTIL ... I tried to zip my jeans. OH MY, it's just not happening. I know it's only day 6, but these jeans weren't tight to start with! Now I weigh 15 lbs less and they're tight. I know it's swelling. I just want to complain about it. And! I'm DENTED! My middle incision is sunk in. I guess it's just puffy all around it, but it looks *really* funny. I'm having a really hard time getting Protein in. The combination of a milk aversion and the smell of protein is just not working for me. I got about half of an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shake in yesterday, a couple of sips of an Atkins drink was all I could handle today. Gonna try again with the unjury today. The good things ... well ... 15 lbs!! The nutritionist said I could melt some cheese into my Soup as long as it was super thin, that will add a teeny bit of protein. My daughter said the atkins shakes tasted like lucky charms to her. (the weirdo!) At least they won't go to waste. LOL My sweet husband is making minestrone soup tonight. I plan to have some broth, and also to put some of the veggies in a blender. YAY, flavor!! How's everyone else doing in their first week?

I need a women's Multivitamin with Iron. Do y'all just take two children's Vitamins? I'm afraid that will leave me short on iron still. I was looking for a liquid Vitamin, if I can find one that tastes at least *somewhat* okay. Any suggestions? Women, what do you take?

Ann, you are exactly like me. I hit the 40 lb mark this morning, and am finally 3 lbs away from onederland. I've been a little frustrated with the slow loss, but it IS coming off. I get a new bracelet when that first number is a ONE!

It happened it happened it happened!! There is definitely some restriction going on!! Yesterday at lunch I just felt full way early and then it happened at supper yesterday too. I was so excited. I think I ate 2-3 bites of chicken, 1-2 of potatoes, and 1-2 of beans. I was looking at my plate thinking, hm, I'm full and really don't want this. This is the FIRST time that has happened!! WOOHOO!

WOOHOO, awesome!! I had that same feeling when I put my son into my ergo carrier (on my back) and had to pull the straps in quite a bit from where they used to be, both the waist strap and the shoulder straps!

Wow, there are doctors more conservative than mine! I've had three fills and have 4 cc in a 10 cc band. I think there are the very beginnings of restriction there, based on my very incredible burping ability and getting to feeling "full" pretty quickly. We're going on vacation next week and then I'm thinking of requesting one more fill (I'm sure he'd just do another 1 cc) and thinking that might "do it" for me for a while. Who knows though. It is really frustrating to have this tool and feel like it's not working though!
-
I haven't really experienced restriction yet. I just went for my third fill yesterday; I now have 4 cc in a 10 cc band. I'm hopeful, but really expect that I'll still need another fill or two before feeling anything. It is frustrating. I AM losing some, but it's pretty slow; I'm about 1 lb per week right now.

3cc's for first fill... is this normal?
jewelee replied to LostAtSea's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr is pretty conservative. I've had two fills and have 3 cc in my 10 cc band currently. I started out with 1 and he added 1 at each fill. Not much restriction going on here. -
What Kind Of Vitamins/calcium Do You Take?
jewelee replied to gingin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take viactiv chews for both calcium and for a Multivitamin. The calcium is GOOD but the multivitamin is just okay. I don't gag when I take it anyway. (I can also take my regular big honkin' multivitamin without any problem. I expect that to change if I ever achieve actual restriction though.) -
WOW!! You look great, and you're doing great!!

I was banded 12/17, and have had two fills for a total of 3 cc in a 10 cc band. My loss has been slow but not excessively so, and my surgeon is pretty conservative with fills. I'm really having no restriction, and a moderate amount of satiety after meals. I expect that if I did go in for a fill, he would add another 1 cc. I would definitely call, except that my family is going on vacation in one month (woohoo, Disney!!) I'm not worried about gaining weight while there, I didn't the last time we went and I pretty much ate everything in sight. We will have a meal plan again; I'll be sharing my meal with my 9 year old so that my 2 year old can have her child's meal. I just don't want to be miserable with that overfull/stuck feeling while there, or worried that I will feel like that. Probably if I had a fill in the next week or so, I'd be adjusted to it by the time we left, right? I should mention - losing superfast has never been my goal, slow and steady is working well for me. That said though, I'm feeling like I have this fabulous tool and I'm not using it at all currently, and it WOULD be nice to drop a few more pounds before going. I'm 8 lbs from a big milestone and it would be nice to hit that before we go. WWYD? Fill now or wait until we get back?

3 Month update and Goal
jewelee replied to antsmith101's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is so encouraging to me. My weight loss has been VERY. SLOW. over the past six weeks. I need to call for another fill, but you're exactly right. We can do everything right but our bodies are still adjusting and it might take a little while. I think my goals haven't been incredibly reasonable either. I'm still aiming for ONEderland by our family vacation in May (10 lbs to go) but it'll be okay if I don't make it. Much better to go at 20-something than at 244! -
I currently have 2 cc's in a 10 cc band and go for my second fill on Tuesday. I'm 2 mo and 1 wk post surgery and I've lost 30 lbs. I'm thrilled about that, but right now I'm hungry and wanting to snack all. the. time. I'm losing 1-2 lbs per week, which really surprises me, because I know I'm eating more than I should. I've noticed myself not chewing properly a few times (you know that feeling, when the food is halfway down your throat and you realize that you didn't hardly chew it at all?) and it's all gone right down, no problems. I suspect that I really NEED this second fill. If I'm getting down big bites of barely chewed food (not ALL the time, but it's happened more than once) then I likely don't have much restriction at all, right? For those of you who have had your second fill, did it make a huge difference? I really feel like there's nothing in there at this point.

So I'm seeing that my doctor is VERY conservative with fills. I've had two fills and I currently have 3 cc in a 10 cc band. I'm losing veeeeerrrrrryyyyyy slowly, which really is fine with me, however, I'm feeling like I'm doing it all on my own. The bulk of my weight loss was still before and the first month after surgery. I think I've only lost about 10-12 lbs since 1 mo post surgery. Sounds like I should get another fill, huh? I'm able to eat a lot, and don't seem to have any problems with anything. SIGH. I'm sure if I go back, he'll put another 1 cc in, which will make 4. I wonder if that will really help?

I'm going to pour this out and then ask for advice. My friend and I have struggled to lose weight together for ages. We both did very well with weight watchers, then both got pregnant. After our pregnancies, we both gained a lot of weight. I mentioned to her right after I scheduled my surgery that I was thinking about it, and she gave me a list of about 75 reasons why it was a bad idea. So, I never told her that I had surgery. Now I've lost about 29 lbs in about two months, and I'm feeling so guilty. I feel like I CAN'T go back now and tell her "oh hey, you know that surgery thing I mentioned? I did it two months ago and it's working great for me." I'm actually feeling guilty for losing weight when she is struggling so much with it. So should I talk to her? Or let it go and just get over my guilt? Or just be happy to finally be losing some? I wish I had just told her not that I was thinking about it, but that I was doing it. WWYD?

I'd say you're through the worst part already. I don't think I've had the "what on earth have I done to myself" feeling since about day 3 or 4.

ew ew ew! Freaked out newbie here. Giggling at your stories though.

ROFL!! I can totally relate to that! The girls have definitely deflated and headed south.

I'm glad to read this thread! I'm having TOM right now and I've been munching and wanting chocolate. I've indulged a little and been mad at myself for it. It should be over soon though, so hopefully I'll go back to normal.

What kind and where did you get it? Thanks!

I'm so excited! I had my first fill on Tuesday, now it's Thursday. I don't seem to have a lot of restriction, however, the scale is moving! Probably won't last too long, but I fully intend to enjoy it!

My port is right in the middle of two incisions. I can feel it pretty easily, and so could my doctor. He said he could easily fill me without flouro but that he wouldn't do that to me at this time. I was glad about that! LOL
