kinda gross, but gotta ask...
jewelee replied to JayJay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
um, yeah ... going through that too ... -
I had an egg and cheese omelet today and OH MY, *HEAVENLY*!! I was so excited to go grocery shopping and buy FOOD! Yum, gonna have to have a baked potato. I'm really not worrying too much about fat content right now; I figure I'm still eating so little that it's a non-issue. I'll get a little more serious about that when I go to "regular" food, still have two more weeks for that.

Yay, congratulations!! The anesthesiologist gave me an amnesiac in my "relaxation" drug. Weird. Jim tells me he was with me until they wheeled me in to the OR, and I was talking to him, and I don't remember a bit of it. It's the strangest feeling!

Ach, my big struggle is Protein. The nutritionist told me 40-60 per day, with an average of 50. I might get half of that. I'm just not doing well with the Protein shakes. Now that I'm starting to be able to eat though, I think it will get a little better. I just calculated - I had a little less than 1/4 of a 3 egg cheese omelet for breakfast, so there's 10 Proteins right there.

Yay, it's done!!

Mine just looks weird. It kind of looked like a donut at first - the incision in the middle with swelling all around it. Then one half of the swelling went away, so I looked dented. Now it just looks weird.

Being Pregnant with Lap Band.
jewelee replied to SweetCrazySarah's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/pregnant-banded-come-join-me-37874/ Here's a humongous thread on this topic. It's a consideration I've had also. I have three children, but I would certainly welcome another one. We'll see what happens ... -
Help! Need coffee and misshapen abdomen from port?

My dent is pretty much right in the middle of my stomach. Still looks weird. -
Isopure clear protein drink
jewelee replied to jewelee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to give it a try, just one bottle. My problem with protein shakes at this point is that I have a milk aversion and can't seem to get past it. -

Isopure clear protein drink

Thanks! I'll be making a trip to GNC this week. -
This is my biggest struggle too. I was told 6 lbs max for two weeks and then 15 lbs max for another two weeks. At a week out, I had to pick up my 25 lb 2 1/2 year old son. No choice, he was going for a coffee pot at church and I was the only one close. It hurt, not terribly bad, but I was still sore from it the next day. I'm TRYING to change my son on the floor unless someone else is home to lift him to the changing table. It's tough. Other things like getting him into the car seat are tough too. My doctors office said "well, he's 2, he should be able to get onto the changing table and into the car seat himself." Well, he CAN ... but he's 2 ... and generally CHOOSES for it to be a battle. Reasoning with a 2 year old usually does not end well for the adult. Anyway ... just wanted to send you sympathy. How old are the kids you have? I would think that would make a difference.

Help! Need coffee and misshapen abdomen from port?
jewelee replied to kimlparker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My abdomen is dented ... looks really weird, almost like a shallow second belly button. I'm REALLY hoping that it's swelling and will go down! I'm not caffeine restricted, but I am carbonated beverage restricted. Hard to believe it's been almost two weeks since I've had a diet coke!! I'm drinking a lot of iced tea though. It's a decent substitute. -

Drowning in a Liquid Diet
jewelee replied to MovinForward's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We made some minestrone Soup with extra broth. Oh my oh my, it was good to have something with FLAVOR. The fam had the soup, I had the broth. It was fabulous - seriously, that was SIX meals for me. Now I've moved on to pinto Beans with ground beef and diced tomatoes and green chilies. I'm just eating the broth, but it has lots of flavor. I did mash up some of the beans for extra Protein. There is a list in the food category that has some suggestions for the liquid phase. -
YAY!! Glad it all worked out, and I wish you a swift recovery!

Just curious ... I think this weird feeling I'm having is hunger!

Do they have to do General Anesthesia for this surgery?
jewelee replied to JaxFab44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
General, and you'd definitely want it that way. I would imagine the feeling of not being able to breathe when filled up with all of the gas would be MOST unpleasant. I have five incisions, two are the typical tiny laparoscopic instrument size, one is about 3", and two others are about 2", give or take a bit. (I haven't actually measured them.) I have had a regular laparoscopy before and the instrument incisions measure up very close to my other scars. -
I'm a little worried about New Years myself. I'll be able to legally EAT then. Yikes!! I'm glad you're feeling better today, Sheila.

I'd love to be at ONEderland by the time we go to DisneyWorld 4/5. Basically that's 10 lbs per month. At this point, I don't know what's realistic, KWIM? I don't want to set a goal that is so far out that that I can't even get close, and then I get all discouraged about it. It sure would be awesome to be able to ride what I want and not worry about fitting into the seats though! Also, as soon as I'm cleared, I'd like to drag my lazy butt to Curves 3-4 times per week. I need to pull my rebounder out too; that may be a little bit longer though, the very idea of bouncing has my insides all quivery.
