Isopure clear protein drink
jewelee replied to jewelee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My update: I can do the isopure clear. It's not the best thing in the world, but I can swallow it without feeling like I'm going to gag. I have to pour about 4 oz into a cup and add about 4 oz of water ... IF I get a whole bottle down in a day, that's a lot of protein plus most of my water. -
Welcome!! Totally remember the happy and scared feeling. Where in TX are you?

On day 5 of pre-op diet just a couple of???
jewelee replied to pikedafoe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my experience too. Good thing because there was no way that would have happened with me awake. -
The ball is rolling!!!
jewelee replied to My Life Back's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My psych evaluation was a joke basically. It took all of about five minutes, in which he asked me about depression. I told him I had taken zoloft for post partum depression that I later figured out was actually post partum exhaustion. And that was the extent of the visit. Weird. Glad everything is moving in the right direction for you and your DH!! Good luck! -
Anybody have trouble sleeping on their side?
jewelee replied to Marlu77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can sleep on my right side without any problem, but there's a weird uncomfortable pulling feeling if I try to sleep on my left. Tomorrow will be three weeks since surgery for me. -
Question on Before Surgery Weight
jewelee replied to KTBEEE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any preop diet at all. I lost about 3-4 lbs between consultation (my high weight) and the actual surgery, but the rest of what I have lost was after surgery. -
But what do I tell my 6yr old son?
jewelee replied to cantwait2bthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what I did. I had my girls (9 and 6) spend the night at a friend's house the night before the surgery. They didn't know about it. While I was sleeping off the anesthesia, my husband went to get them. He told them that I had a little operation to make my tummy feel better. He said I'd be sore for a few days. That way they weren't freaked out about coming to see me in the hospital. They didn't know anything about it beforehand, so they didn't worry, and when I knew they were coming in, I made every effort to be awake and look as okay as possible. They ended up taking it very much in stride ... almost a little too much in stride! haha!! -
Eating alot after surgery
jewelee replied to sci gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yikes, a cheeseburger? I was told (and it makes perfect sense to me) that the diet in the beginning is for healing rather than weight loss. It's not a matter of if I CAN eat this, it's a matter of if I SHOULD eat this. I think you'll save a lot of problems in the long run if you'll take it super easy on your stomach right now. Definitely tell your doctor. -
Medical ID and Restaurant cards
jewelee replied to spiffy86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bracelet - if you're in an accident or something, doctors would need to know that before trying to stick a tube down your throat. Restaurant card - that seems like overkill to me. JMO though. -
My stock answer is (or will be) "I stopped eating." It's all portion control. Unfortunately I have to lose a ton before it's noticeable ... how fair is that??

Stapled, Stitched, or Glued???
jewelee replied to Poopsie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had tape (steristrips). I assume there was glue under the steristrips. -
Oh, I was just reading another thread of yours! You did go through with it then. Um yeah ... days 2 and 3 weren't pretty around here. Day 4 I started to feel a little bit human. Day 5 I started itching to get out of the house. Thankfully I'm now over 2 weeks out and feel mostly back to normal. I still have a bit of soreness where my port is, but it's just minor soreness.

is there anyone who has no restrictions before surgery?
jewelee replied to ch4251's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no pre-op anything, except washing with hibicleanse the morning I went in for surgery. -
WOW! Congratulations!!

Okay, this is aggravating. I think I have the eating slowly thing down. I made some Soup (it's broccoli soup, made in the magic bullet, and it's YUMMY!) I have 1/2 cup and was planning to eat the whole thing. Well ... I'm not even halfway through and it's cold! Same thing with cold drinks - it starts out cold, ends up room temp. Just something to get used to, I guess. Still loving eating mushy soup, even if it isn't hot. (oh -- and just a FYI ... if you feel tempted to put gumbo in the food processor ... um, just don't. It sounded good at the time.)

Am I a good lap band candidate????
jewelee replied to CTerry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would still think it would be worth it. You are my height and your starting is about my weight. I really have no problem losing weight. I've done it many many times. My goal with the band is not just to lose weight, but to KEEP IT OFF. Yes, I could certainly diet and lose weight (probably not all I need to lose, but I could make a big dent in it) but six month later, I would very likely have gained it all back, plus some extra. That was the deciding factor for me. -
Wow, that's awesome!!

Hey hon, Your body is playing games with Water. That scale is going to move down and stay down, just let everything heal first. I totally get the frustration!! :huggies:
-
I'm still lovin' the mushies!! I'm making broccoli soup in my magic bullet tonight. Yum!!

Just before I went in, I was also scared that I was going to die. I'm not a surgery novice either - three c-sections plus a couple of other abdominal surgeries. Still scared to death about this one. Really, all I wanted from my husband was reassurance and compassion. If he had minimized what I was going through, I would have been *VERY* upset, and would likely have shut him out from the whole experience. Just reassure him that what he's feeling is completely normal, and understand that the fear is both for the immediate surgery, and for the life changes that will follow.

Have y'all seen it? Where she says she has lost this weight and won't have to make a new years resolution to lose weight ever again? :faint::faint::faint: I *SO* hope that is me next year!! How exciting is that?
-
That was me on WW too. Love the program, just didn't have the ability to stick to it forever. I'm happy to have decided to go with surgery!
-
I'm not for sure, but I think it's entirely possible. Today is the first day that I can really take a deep breath without feeling some pulling. I was banded 12/17.

Ugh, the "e" word. LOL As soon as I'm cleared, I plan to go to Curves again. I enjoyed it before, hoping I can find a way to enjoy it again. In the meantime, I need to get out and walk some. I live in south TX, so it's not too cold, even though I've been using that as an excuse.

Ironic! For whatever it's worth, I've THREATENED to break my scale several times.
