How may cc's for first fill?
Hastings replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had three ccs in a ten cc band when the doctor put it in. I have restriction and no hunger. -
Doc says, "It won't work unless you make a lifestyle change"
Hastings replied to angelsoul's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Many people don't stop at labeling the foods as good or bad. I've had people tell me something like "I'm bad, I ate some chips." or something. We are not good or bad because of what food we choose to eat. -
Lap band surgery, but no fill right away?
Hastings replied to elimatal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a ten cc band and the doctor put in 3 cc when he installed the band. I've been banded about two weeks and still on liquids and haven't been hungry yet.:mad2: -
24 hours post banding
Hastings replied to jocarojo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many doctors put in three or four ccs in when they install the band. Mine did. -
Sizes are not the same as they were years ago. Using a piece of clothing worn years ago as a measure is a good idea, but I wouldn't use the size.

What is a good Post Op shake?
Hastings replied to MsHansy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Slim Fast low carb. Chocolate or vanilla creme. If you mix some gerber baby food mango with the vanilla and add some nutmeg, it tastes like egg nog. -
I'm still eating WAY to much. why?
Hastings replied to winnk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had the same issues that some have had as far as emotionally accepting the band. Perhaps it's my age, and finally just reaching that point of desperation that I am glad for the process, even if it is difficult. I think part of the issue here is that we all need to rethink food, our own eating behavior, and the band. If we can eat as much as a moose, perhaps we shouldn't. How often do we see the word "bad" as in "I've been bad"? Threads that are worded to make the poster sound like a naughty, misbehaving child? To me this sends the message that someone else (the food, the band?) is in control. We need to put ourselves in control. I think that it's important to have a plan and to work on that plan. Every single thing I eat I ask myself "Will this help me reach my goal?". Just because we have not always had self discipline over food doesn't mean we can't develop it. We need to seize the power. :grouphug: -
I agree, Whimsy, that posts are sometimes hard to decipher. I think that the second thoughts that Jaz is/was having are pretty common.

How To Hide Lap Band From Work
Hastings replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really surprised that the employers don't require a doctor's release for you to return to work. -
The OP has since admitted that she may have posted in an emotional haze. She has visited her doctor and is proceeding along the same path we all follow. I don't see the purpose in trying to smack her down.

Questions about the liqiud diet
Hastings replied to pinkrose89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor suggested, among other shakes, the slim fast low carb. I get them at Walmart and they have 20 grams of protein and few carbs. -
I was banded three days ago, Elk Hunter. My experience is very like you describe.

How did your doctors feel about you getting a Gastric Band?
Hastings replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My PCP was very supportive. She had done a residency in bariatric surgery. If your doctor doesn't support you, maybe you should find a doctor who does. -
If you don't think it will work for you, then you have made a good choice. I'm 56 and i was banded the 4th of march. Age should not be a barrier. I, too, am looking to shed diabetes along with the pounds.

I Can't Believe I Am 23 Days Away!!!!
Hastings replied to angelsvoice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommended Slim Fast Low Carb drinks. I think they have 20 grams of protein and are readily available. -
Itching can be a part of menopause symptoms, as well.

It's hard, I know, Lauren to go it alone. Think of this though, only one person lives in your body. As the tenant you get to decide how it is managed.) Maybe you can find a support group that meets on some sort of regular basis. Many surgical groups have them here.

Comparing FREE food diary and calorie counters

I use spark people and I like it. -
Tiffany has lost 200 pounds. That's incredible. I'm impressed with her and I think she is stubborn enough to succeed.

Pre-Op negative feedback from friends.....
Hastings replied to KarenH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend, who just at the beginning of her process to have a bypass, told everyone: "The next two years are all about me. Get on board, or get lost." She was middle aged and her kids were grown and behind her. I loved the attitude. She has lost almost 200 pounds and is doing great! (The only thing she did that was really about her was to cook the food she could eat and to refuse to listen to negativity.) -
You doctor does not have the right to keep details of your treatment from you. I wonder why you need 8 fills. How much does he charge per fill? Are you paying or is your insurance paying? I would get a different doctor, one who would see me as part of the team taking care of me.)

I tried to create a new account on the other forum, but I gave it five different user names and it says each one was already used. I doubt it. Can't make it work.

I'm using True Results and the doctor is Ken Hollis.

PLEASE, recommend me a GYN for the Houston area
Hastings replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see Dr. MacDonald in Sugar Land. She's a good one. -
You would count calories to make sure you are consuming enough as well as to make sure you aren't over-consuming. Too few calories can stall weight loss.:tt1:
