What are the differences for a cash-pay patient?
Riz2006 replied to Phynale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Self pay - $28k in Ohio by an excellent surgeon at a Center of Excellence. My dr makes his self pay patience follow the 3 month NUT, see psychologist, all the lab work, etc. I was not offered the complication insurance. No regrets! Best money I have ever spent! -
So awesome!

I was sleeved March 10. Started period early (day before surgery which I know is common bc of stress). Then in April and May I was normal (30-32 day cycles) but now for June it still hasn't came. I'm not pregnant but a week late. Normal? Going to ask my surgeon in Wednesday but wanted others thoughts.

I am down 128lbs and 6 months out. Another 30 and I will be at my personal goal (I've met Dr. Goal at 120). I rode Water slides yesterday at Disney for the first time in 12 years! Love my new life!!

My insurance does not cover WLS. Only thing it paid for was one blood work. It sucks bc 30k out of pocket is a lot of money but it is what it is.

Wanting better life - same here! People always ask me how I feel. I feel amazing. I thought I felt amazing before but nope this is a wonderful feeing.

I'm almost 6 months out. I'm just generally a happier person now. I get that comment often from people now how happy and glowing I seem. I also must say my confidence has gone up a ton. I am willing to try new things. I walk around in my house with shorts and sports bra. I am more sociable and enjoy doing things now. I love shopping!! I'm so grateful for my sleeve.

I did! I wore 10-11 prior but put on 9's the other day and they fit! I was shocked!

I paid 10k down and making payments to hospital on rest. (30k all together). I am almost 6 months out and 124 lbs down and it's been worth every single penny!

Here is a 22lb difference- one on left is from a month ago. I love that I'm to the point in my weight that I can visually see even a 20lb loss. -

Down 121 pounds- surgery was March 10th so 5.5 months ago. I want to do another 30-40lbs. -
I was getting stomach pains (a super uncomfy tightness) - dr said it was better to come out on our terms rather then waiting for an emergency (after u/s - it was confirmed I had gall stones). dr said 1 out of 5 will get it after WLS. I just happened to be the 1. Surgery and recovery went well. I was back to walking my 3+ miles after a believe 5 days. (Walked a lot at a local festival 2 days after surgery so it was an easy recovery). Great job! I am so thankful too!

I fee you with th extra skin! I went from a size 26 to 18 in jeans and 3x to large/xlarge in shirts. I've lost 115lb. I think I could be a smaller size jeans as well if I didn't have extra skin! Oohh well maybe some day! I still want to do another 30-40lbs so maybe I'll still get down to a 12-14.

Marriage/Relationship change
Riz2006 replied to tough-girl78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto all this! My hubby loved me before and always supported me! We have been married 9 years. I am about 5-10lbs away from our wedding day weight. My hubby has been more lovey dovey but not because he "loves me more" per say but because the confidence I have now is so much higher then what I had just 4 months ago. I walk around in shorts and sports bra now, I let him in the room while I change, I dress up and wear more then just yoga pants (although I feel like I rock the yoga pants now ????). I want to do more things (we just went on a canoe trip). He just sees how much my confidence as grown and how much more I'm loving life and that's lead him to enjoying life/me more.
