    Losing my hair

Unless you suffer from chronic illness or genetic reason for the hair thinning, your issues are curable. I had similar condition post op and my doctor noted the condition as telogen effluvium. They usually suggest higher protein intake. You can try some trial and tested protein supplements in the stores. Also, you can eat a few bananas every day. It will not make you starve and balance your diet. Though post op hair loss barely lurks beyond six months, and it grows back. Other nutrients required to control hair loss is biotin and, vitamin B-6 among others. You can try Biotin Supplements & Vitamins for Hair Skin & Nails available online. Hope this work wonders for you.

    Vitamins

It can take a little longer for some than others. You’re still in the healing process, and truthfully I’ve heard many people say Bariatric Advantage Vitamins make them feel pretty awful. I have been taking Vita4Life for 8 years now, and I have never had issues with my labs. I swear by this company and their vitamins. When I placed my order last week, I was told they’re coming out with a chewable in a month or two. You may want to contact them or keep your eye on their website for the product. It’s worth a shot? As for Protein, I had to eat a lot of very small meals in the beginning. I drank something called EOS Carb Control premade shakes. Each contained I think 15 grams of protein, and they’re absolutely delicious. I miss them now that I think about it! Lol They look like this: http://justalittlebalance.blogspot.com/2012/04/eas-carb-control-shakes-review.html If you want to check out Vita4Life, their site is here. Good luck with your search. You’ll find your new normal… just don’t give up the search. www.vita4life.net

    Bariatric vitamins

I personally take Vita4Life. I don’t like chewables, and I swallow their capsules just fine. Never had any issues and they’re bariatric friendly. Been taking them for 8 years now and my labs have always been perfect. I was speaking to someone there the other day when I placed my order, and they’re coming out with chewables shortly. I believe she said they estimate 1-2 months. You may want to check them out if you’re looking for a chewable? I hope you find something you enjoy. I know it can be hard. Here’s their link if you decide to check it out. www.vita4life.net

    Hair loss!

Breathe! I know it’s scary. J The same thing happened to me after my tummy tuck but not when I had my bariatric surgery and I can definitively say that it’s SCARY but it will stop. I PROMISE! Your hair is not going to keep falling out forever and you won’t go bald despite the fact that you’re completely convinced of it right now. You’re going through Telogen Effluvium. Essentially, at any one time, 90% of your hair follicles are in the growth phase and 10% in the resting (or fall out) phase. When your body goes through some sort of trauma or shock or you go through some sort of emotional trauma, your follicles can suddenly go in to a resting phase. Not all of them… only at most 40%. These follicles will shed the hair and then, go back in to the active phase and begin regrowing. There’s really nothing you can do other than take Vitamins to assist your new growth. Keep taking your Biotin and just be good to yourself. It’ll grow back. Keep telling yourself that. It’ll grow back! J I don’t know what brand you’re taking, but I took Vita4Life. It was excellent and I actually still do take it. Just a personal recommendation. J http://vita4life.net/bariatric-vitamins-hair-skin-and-nail-support.html

    Vitamin B12 shots

I used to take a B12 once a month and I didn't notice any type of apetite change or energy boost when I received my injection. I have heard of some people having this kind of reaction but I personally didn't. I think it just depends on the person. It makes sense with an energy boost, apetite changes would occur since it's feasable a metabolic change could occur as well. Perhaps you sould consider a sublingual to prevent a sudden dose of B12 and a metabolic change? I use Vita4Life sublinguals, and since finding them I haven't required the shots at all. The link is here. Good luck! http://vita4life.net/products/bariatric-vitamins-b-12-sublingual.html

    Sublingual B12

I love Vita4Life B12 sublinguals. I've been taking 1 a day for over a year now after my surgeon recommended I switch because my chewables weren't working, and they improved my labs within a few of months. I haven't had any deficiency issues since, and I swear by these sublinguals. Good luck! The link is here: http://vita4life.net/products/bariatric-vitamins-b-12-sublingual.html

    Nasal B12

I have used a couple of different brands before and I didn't like the way it felt. I decided to switch to a sublingual, and my surgeon recommended Vita4Life B12 Sublinguals. I've been taking 1 a day for about 8 months now. I just had my blood panel done last month and my B12 was well within normal ranges, so I definitely recommend you guys check it out if you're looking for something that works well. I just couldn't get over the nasal spray. The link is here: http://vita4life.net/products/bariatric-vitamins-b-12-sublingual.html

    Vitamins?

Vita4life’s supplements are not strictly confined to bariatric patients. General people (like you and I) can use it to have weight loss benefits.

    Supplements-Vitamin & Minerals

The ASMBS recommends that you take the following supplements to prevent nutritional deficiencies after recovery from RYGB surgery: • Daily Vitamin D and calcium supplements. Vitamin D deficiency is common in people who have had this kind of gastric bypass. Multivitamins containing 1,200 mg of daily calcium and 400 to 800 IU of vitamin D don't appear to provide enough protection for bone health, studies suggest. Some experts have had success stopping bone loss by increasing vitamin D intake to 1,600 to 2,000 IU daily. Additional calcium supplementation of 1,600 mg daily is also suggested. • Multivitamins. You should take a daily Multivitamin that contains 200 percent of the daily values. Wait two hours to take a calcium supplement after your multivitamin. • Vitamin B12 supplements. Doctors recommend vitamin B12 supplementation for all weight-loss surgery patients to help prevent bone fractures. You may need to give yourself B12 injections for the rest of your life. • Oral vitamin D supplementation if a deficiency is detected. Your doctor may prescribe 50,000 IU of vitamin D2 taken orally once a week for eight weeks; some people require lifelong vitamin D supplementation. • Iron supplements. Research suggests that after surgery, the amount of iron contained in a standard multivitamin may not be enough to prevent anemia. Teens and menstruating women may require the amount of iron found in two multivitamins, along with 50 to 100 mg of elemental iron a day. The ASMBS also recommends supplemental Vitamin C, among other supplements, to make it easier for the body to absorb iron. You should check with your doctor for the recommended dose for you. I buy all my Vitamins from Vita4Life. After having tried Bariatric Advantage but personally hated it as it always made me nauseous. I consulted a nut who advised me to change to vita4life and have had no complaints yet. My labs also returned good.

    Vitamins

I tried various brands like Bariatric Advantage, Flintstones, Centrum etc but they were all useless. They chewables made me nauseous (because of the fillers in them) and the sugar content in the gummies were a major concern for weight gain. I then switched to capsules and finally on my nuts advise I settled for vita4life. It’s been three years and no complaints. I get all their products off the website. You can get the products off Amazon too.

How to take vitamins after surgery

If your are hinting towards having chewable, then I would strongly advise against it. Chewable often contain fillers that cause allergies and nausea. I suffered severe nausea when I used to take chewable from Bariatric Advantage. I tried various other brands but the end results were the same. I decided to consult a nut, who advised me to change to fast dissolving capsules. I searched for different brands and settled on vita4life. I have been taking gastric bypass vitamins from vita4life and have no complaints for the past two years. My labs also look great.
