Lisa - welcome aboard! Will your surgery be covered by Insurance or are you paying for it yourself? Do you have lots of family & friends to support you through this? Thanks Donna for the reply. I did ok - I had only 1 "fun size" Baby Ruth! The trick is going to be staying out of it during those "weak" moments!

Hi from Dayton Ohio. I am a patient of Dr. Schumacher at Sycamore Hospital. I have a surgery date of 11/20/07, and figured it's about time to actually "meet" others in the same boat - after reading just about everything on the site over the last two months! I'm a wife of 20 yrs and a mom to two daughters, 13 & 11. I'm a Girl Scout Leader in two troops & work part time in my Church as an administrative aid, volunteer at school, etc...I stay way too busy! This year, I'm making some time for myself. Instead of running my kids everywhere & putting them first in everything I do, I've decided that it's time to put myself first and regain my health, strength & vigor. I'm 43 yrs old (my bday was on the 28th). I weigh 243 and want to loose about 90-100 lbs. Well, enough about me...I want to learn more about others!

Meghan - I too worry about the reaction of friends. At this time I've only told my direct supervisor, my mom, husband & a very close friend. All have been very supportive - but I do not think I'll tell anyone else. I've love the "Female Surgery & Gallbladder Surgery" used in above posts...Can I use them also? Don't let them get you down. You're doing what's best for you - and only you know what's best for Meghan, right? Once you've lost weight, it really won't matter what they said. You'll have the "last laugh"!

BTW - It's Beggar's Night here - my kids have just brought home a TON of Candy! HEEELLLPPP!

Wow - looks like 11/20 is a popular date! I, too am scheduled to be banded the same day!
