I was approved by Aetna. I had my surgery July 15th. Now I have to tell you Aetna is a pain to get approved but I got it the first time around. I had no co-morbities but I did have a bmi over 40. What I did to get approved was call every day once it was submitted. Than when they had everything and I was sure of it and they were still reviewing it. I faxed in on my own a copy of their clinical policy highlighted with a copy of all the diets I have tried with my weight loss and gain. They really like to see that you are determined before they go ahread and approve. Good Luck! If you play be there rules and follow them to a T you will get it.

My first question is for insurance to cover a tt you have to prove medical necessity. Would an infected belly button count? Mine gets infected all the time. I don't get any rashes any where else. The other I have two choices of insurance Aenta and United Health Care which is better to chose to get it cover? Any advice would be wonderful!

HELP! Anyone Post-Op and taking Wellbutrin?
Flowerpurr replied to Cassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use to take the extended release wellburtin but now I take the regular pill 3 times a day. I am able to swallow the pill whole and no issues at all. If you can't do that than cut it up into quarters. I have no problems with it whole so good luck! -

What everyone here said is true. What are you eating? You should journal how much you are eating everyday.

I need help with breakfast ideas. I have been banded 5 weeks now. I haven't had my first fill yet so I am empty. But I am sick of protein shakes and eggs. Any other suggestions?

One Major Question...
Flowerpurr replied to SoCalCass's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow everyone was lukcy my Dr. told me six weeks. He said I could do it after 4 if I wanted but said six weeks would be great. It does hurt your ab muscles that is for sure. I wouldn't take any changes of ruining anything so hold off as long as possible. But as your Dr. as well. -
Crushable medications
Flowerpurr replied to JULIEM81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Wellburtin and I am able to crfush that up or cut it in fours. That is for depressiona and anxiety. I don't get migranes so I don't have any advice on that. But talk to you Dr. and they can help you. Good Luck -
I have a question. I was banded on the 15th of July. How do you know when you are stretching out your pouch? I have had no pain. But when I eat I sometimes feel like food is going up and down in the back of my throat. I get that feeling also when I haven't eaten for a while. Does anyone else get that?

no fill restriction..anyone else???
Flowerpurr replied to shrinknme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having some of the same issues you are. I got banded on July 15th. I have had no fill yet but I feel pretty restricted. When I eat solid food only though. When I eat yogurt or more liquid I am fine it's the more solid food that I can only eat an ounce at a time. You are probally still swollen. So give it some more time. The Dr. won't give you a fill if you tell him you are already having issues with eating now. My Dr. said one of his patients didn't need a fill for 9months. Also try drinking more water. I seem to be tighter when I don't have enough water in my body. -
First step to getting that fat girl out of my mind
Flowerpurr replied to Hollie519's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Hollie, I can totally relate to your story except for the drugs. I never got into those. You sound like a smart and intellegant person so don't let your mother get you down. They all do that because they love us. Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope I can lose that much as well. -
See I never feel stuffed anymore. Even though I have that feeling I am not overly stuffed. Plus I am only eating an ounce to two ounces of food at a time. I am not shoveling food down. I am eating slowly. I just don't know. I feel it now and I haven't eaten in two hours.

i got banded 2 days ago!! advise please
Flowerpurr replied to helenukhelen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first four days I was on completly clear liquids only. I was drinking ISOPURE drinks that are clear grapefrost 40grams of protein but really expensive. I was also aloud s/f popsicles, jello, and chicken broth. Than I was aloud full liquids after that until last week when I could start eating canned, tuna, canned chicken, pudding, protein shakes, bocca burgers, and some ground meat. I hope that helps. -

Persistant Diarrhea?--Help
Flowerpurr replied to 2nd2none1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand what you are going through right now. But I had mine about 5 days after surgery. The pain medicine was making me not go. So I took Milk of Magensia and went like crazy for three days. Finally the nurse told me to eat some apple sauce. But you are not far enough out to do that. You really need to call the Dr. That is not normal to have diarreah. Plus are you drinking clear protein or full liquid protein? That makes a huge difference to. -

I know I sound like a baby lol. Well I just wanted to update everyone I am doing better. It is just going to take some time. Good Luck to everyone else that is going in. I know this is all worth it in the end. Oh the surgery was a breeze. The Dr. had no trouble with my liver. Good Luck to all this week and next you are all in my prayers.

Anesthesia need advice please
Flowerpurr replied to choopie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I to am getting banded tomorrow and I am nervous about being put to sleep. I have been put to sleep before but this time them are putting something in me instead on taking something out. My other fear is my liver won't be small enough. I have lost 35lbs over the past 6months. I lost 5 in the past 4 four days. That is my biggest fear. Good Luck to everyone that is getting banded this week. This is our month for freedom from fat. -
require to lose weight before surgery
Flowerpurr replied to tigereyegreen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a three month pre-surgical diet where I lost 30lbs and was on mostly liquids and one meal a day. Than I saw the Dr. two weeks ago and he said I need to lose 5 to 10lbs. Well I lost 5lbs just like he wanted. I know it's hard but try and lose the weight. Just think you will never regain that weight again. -
Good Luck today! Tomorrow is my big day!
