    Your Aetna experience?

Hi Lonestar, All I was told was to follow their clinical bulletin which it use to read different. The only thing my company has a rule is that I be morbidly obese which I am. Other than that I have to follow Aetna's rules which I have been.

    Your Aetna experience?

Well good luck I hope you get approved as well. Why did they make you write a letter as well? I was just going to do it because I want to get approved the first time around. Also why did you chose the six month diet verses the three month diet?

    Your Aetna experience?

Did anyone have to prove they tried losing weight before they decided to go for the lapband? I have lost weight before but not under any Dr.'s supervision except when I was on Phen Phen but I no longer remember who the Dr. was. So can anyone give me advice? Also did anyone write their own letter to Aetna to get approved.

Dear Amy123, For the 3month prep diet you ahve to see a Ditecian, Exercise Phys, PCP, and a behaivor Modification specalist.

    I Am Offically Approved !!!!!

Wow Lizbuff I started out at 290 but I am not down to 257. So I am also happy to have no-comorbities but my Dr. said that can work against me. I know I am sick of going to class every week and seeing three Dr.'s a week plus my PCP monthly just in case. Well good luck with your surgery. I hope to be the next one on the table.

Which diet did you do to get approved? Also do you have any co-morbities?

    I Am Offically Approved !!!!!

Wow all your information have been so helpful. I have done the three month diet as well but I am on my fourth month now! I have been seeing two PCP along with the ditecian weekly, exercise psyh, and behaivor modification specalist. I finally got my psych eval on Monday the 14th. Now I see the suregon on the 21st but still need a letter from another ditecian and the exercise pysch. I am hoping Aetna approves me on the three month diet. I have lost 33lbs but my BMI is still 43 but I have no co-morbities. Good luck to everyone!

    Your Aetna experience?

I have a question. Does anyone know if Aetna will accept the two year weight history for 07 and 08? Or will they want 06 and 07?

    Your Aetna experience?

Dogluvr, Tell me aobut it. Now after doing the pre-op diet I have to go see the dietician alone and the exercise psychlogist and that's another $100.00 even though I see both weekly! UGH!!! This is becoming to much money. I better get approved. I have no co-morbities which is not good. But my BMI right now is 44.6 it was 49.8. So I hope Aetna just says yes because my bmi is still high! I am trying not to lose any more weight until I get approved for surgery. I don't want to give them a reason to say no.

    Your Aetna experience?

Hi Dogluvr, My suregons office wouldn't even see me until I was totally done with the diet and I was done yesterday. Than they wanted to make me wait a week to get all the paperwork sent to them. But now I have to wait for my first visit on the 21st. So I was just wondering if I could just have my PCP do it instead of the suregon but I am sure he needs to write a letter to. UGH!!! Aetna is such a pain.

    Your Aetna experience?

Dogluvr, I have a question for you. Do I have to get my suregon to submit all the paperwork or can I have my Dr.'s office do it for me? I am done with the three month diet and now my visit to the suregons office got pushed back. Did you have a letter from your suregon as well as your PCP?

    Aetna Approved!

    Do you have any co-morbities?

    Your Aetna experience?

NeNe, I did look on the sheet but my PCP told me that it is hard with no co-moborities is all. I have been going to a special weight loss clinic. It does the pre-op diet. I see everyone from the excersise psychologist, behaivor modification specalist, detician, a Dr. there, and attend classes as well as check in with my Dr. once a month. Soooo I am just praying that I get approved this month. I go see the suregon on the 16th. But I also see him weekly as he is one of the Dr.'s that supervise the diet. Thank you for all your imput.

    Your Aetna experience?

Has anyone gotten approved with no Co-morbities but just a high BMI? That is my case my BMI was almost 50 but now down to 43. According to Aetnas rules if it is over 40 you do need anything else but my Dr. seems to think they are going to give me a hard time. Hower I do have a pinched nerve in my leg due to my weight and plantar facitias as well along with heel spurs but they don't count those.

    Aetna Approved!

From what I am told they can't deny you just because you bmi dropped for a short period. I would forsure fight that. I have been on the pre-surgical diet for three months now and I have lost 30lbs. Though my BMI has been over 40 the past five years and still is. What are they going to deny me because I was able to lose 30lbs. Just keep appealing you will do it. Did you submit all your diet infromation to them? If you read their terms carefully they want you to lose at least 10% of your body weight before surgery as well. So fight, fight, fight, is all I have to say! Good luck I wish everyone all the best.

    Aetna Approved!

Dear Mommymj1, According to Aetna's new rules you only need a two year weight history not five. If you look it up on their website it tells you. Second they say if you do the three month diet you need to see all those Dr.'s. Did you try to apply after three months? Who did you talk and they said you have to do six months? I have read on here people doing three and getting approved. I go every week and see the Dr. and plus I follow up once a month with my PCP. So I am doing double the work. I think Aetna is ver inconsistant on what they require. Here is a link that shows two years. Plus it show three months if you do the pre-surgical diet. I have paid out $1250 for that diet to get it done faster and get approved. They better not deny me. Obesity Surgery

    Aetna Approved!

I understand that. But why did you do the six instead of the three? There is a choice to do one or the other? Also did you see as many specalists as I am right now?
