I am officially Banded as of 12 noon on 11/12/14 ! So far so good! Pain is not as bad as I expected. Anesthesia placed a Regional Block in my abdominal fascia about 30 mins prior to surgery, I am an RN that works in PACU and had never seen this before, the actual block experience was a bit uncomfortable, but I'm assuming that it is responsible for my comfort, so it was wort it. But like all other regional anesthetics it doesn't rid me of feeling pressure and gas, which are not too bad. The more I move around the better I feel. Drinking pretty good, no nausea. Burped up some air a few times was both scary and relieving at the same time. Only problem so far is that the Norco I'm taking makes me restless instead of drowsy. I've only slept about 3 hours since I woke up in the recovery room at 1pm. Any who.... just so glad surgery and waiting is over. Thank you Lord God for a safe, uneventful procedure and recovery....

It was day surgery. Woke up in recovery at about 1:00, out the door at 3:45. Not bad at all. Got in my room about 2:00, layed down about 20 mins then just couldn't lay down any more, got up and got dressed started walking around and was ready to go home.

Horrible date for my first day of Preop Diet. All of my coworkers have brought in leftover candy from Halloween. Chocolate everywhere! Then on top of that, it's also my first day of smoking rehab. But I'm determined to push thru... Surgery date 11/12/14. So excited!!! and impatient... Reading everything I can find, journaling and taking notes. This journey initiated over 2 years ago, started the process and backed out thinking that I could lose and keep the weight off without surgical intervention. Well here I am again with an additional 30 lbs to lose. Good luck to all of us November Banders!

I am so excited, received my approval for Lap-Band Procedure in less than one week!!!! Recently changed employers, so I have brand new insurance. This is my first experience with BCBS TX. Submitted request on Oct. 3, 2014, pre-determination completed and approval received on Oct 8, 2014. I'm amazed! I'm going through True Results in Houston, TX. Started the process on Sept. 17 (which was my 38th Birthday). I won't lie, I stayed on top of everyone involved, making contact with at least one party everyday, by email or phone. (Probably got on there nerves, LOL) It worked. The patient liaison said that she has never seen anyone get approval so quickly. The process so far has been pretty simple. Was worried that I would get the run around from insurance company due to the fact that I've only had this policy since Sept. 3rd. Anyway next step is obtaining a surgery date. Yay Me!

Surgery Date Taking Too Darned Long
Keshajo1 replied to CocoPebbles1030's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm there with you. Got insurance approval on 10/08/14. Going through True Results in Houston. When I went for consultation appt on 9/17/2014. They set surgery goal for end of October, but despite less than a week to get approval from insurance company, still waiting for the medical director at True Results to release my records to the Surgeon so that I can have Preop visit and schedule procedure. I need preop appt for 10/21/14 to have any hope on getting procedure done during my surgical goal date window. I've done everything ahead of time based on there pre surgical map plan, but still major stall. Praying to hear from someone today. (Fingers, toes and eyes crossed). Good luck! We are probably just super anxious. Like kids waiting on Christmas Day. Lol
