Does not seem to be working for me

Something to keep in mind, everyone is different and your depression could be from your expectations of the procedure. We think, feel and then behave (Albert Ellis). If your thoughts are running toward, "I made a mistake", "all my friends are going to laugh behind my back" etc. The feelings produced by that type of thinking (embarrassment, shame, failure) will only suck your motivation and will away. Try a disputation statement. Instead of "I made a mistake", try "I really don't know what to expect for my metabolism. I might simply lose more slowly than others". For others making fun of you, "that is not rational, those are my friends and I can trust them to care unconditionally" "the reason they are not saying anything is because they may not know what to say to me". We always judge our insides to everyones outside. If they are quiet, and we feel bad about our selves then the only explanation we can come up with is that something has to be wrong with me. This is a shame message and is a core belief of most obese individuals. Hang in there!!!!!!

Does not seem to be working for me

First I want to let everyone know how much I admire you. It takes courage and determination to not get discouraged when things go wrong. I have several obese clients who either have had Lapband or gastric bypass or are considering the procedures. I would like to know if others have expienced depression after the initial weight loss slows or after the procedure period. I welcome any feedback you can give me. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!:help:
