I have mine Jan. 7th at Immanuel with Dr. White
-
I just got my surgery date. It is Jan. 7th 2015. What a way to start the new year. I am excited. I start my pre-op diet on the 27th of this month. Little worried about that just liquids may be difficult. Has anyone else from Ia. found out when there surgery dates are.

I want to wear everything mentioned and a nice forming little black dress instead of a moo moo black dress lol.

I completely understand. My brother keeps asking me why I still want to go through with the surgery since I have lost 42 lbs on mine own. I have told him because I have done this before only to gain it back I need that little bit of help. I told him I still have to continue to eat better and that this is not a quick fix. He keeps trying to talk me out of it so I think I will not say anything to him until after the surgery and then it will be to late for him to say anything. My boyfriend is on board with it but my children are like my brother so I guess I will just keep confiding in my boyfriend. I will know my surgery date after Dec. 9th,

hi ladies I have had hemorrhoids since I started this prep op diet. I find out on the 9th when I have my surgery. I understand how painful they are. I have used all the over counter stuff with no relief except the wipes and that is short term. I have learned the looser the stool the better. I take miralax every morning this last week and it;s been so much better. I was told by the pharmacist that you can use it everyday. I hope it keeps working. If I find my stool is to loose than I will skip one day of miralax. So that is my opinion I hope that helps a little.

I figured. LOL. Momof2inIowa is from Iowa. You might be able to search through members to find her and other Iowa members. Let me see if I can figure out how to do that!

Found her. Here is her profile. She is in the Des Moines area - not sure where you are. http://www.bariatricpal.com/user/214529-momof2iniowa/
There are also forums for specific locations. There might be a shout out for Iowa in one of the location specific topics. Can't hurt to search!!

I have been doing this since May and am so ready to get this over with so I can start living a more full life. I miss working and doing things with the grandkids. I just wish they would hurry and and make up their minds whether to approve me or not. -
'No!': A Daughter Reacts to Mom's Decision to Have WLS
ruth1966 replied to strongcoffey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
great article. I wish my brother could accept this. He thinks because I have lost 37lbs that I can do it on my own. He has watched me over the years and knows I have been struggling with my weight all my life. He keeps telling me that people die from this surgery especially the one's who weigh more. I have done my research and know that this is very slim but he just doesn't seem to listen. I wonder if he may be having a hard time with my decision because he is very overweight himself. I am going through with this I have worked to long and hard for this. It's my turn to be healthy -
Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program
ruth1966 replied to 395Ron's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand every thing you are going through. I just finished up my 6 month so only having to do 3 is great. I also have lost a total of 37 pounds in 6 months but it is so not easy. I have never been a person who likes sweets but lately especially I have been craving them and letting myself stop and by something on my way to work. So I decided no more and now it;s been two days since I have. I hope I can keep it up. My paperwork has been submitted to insurance yesterday so we will see if they will approve me. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it dosen;t take much longer been doing this for a long while at least if feels like that. I am doing fitness pal and it has helped a lot. I also ride my bike 30 minutes 4x a week. So hang in there it will be time for surgery before you know it -

Medicaid and Medicare approval
ruth1966 replied to Lisa1171's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started back in April 2014 and am just submitting paperwork today to medicaid so we will see what they say. I am hoping so I can get some weight off and get back to work. I miss working believe that or not. It's hard to keep a job when you can't stand very long because of bad knees and weight. -
I was just wondering if you got your answer. I have just submitted my paperwork today so we will see

council bluffs here. I will be having mine done at Immanuel in Omaha, No date yet just submitted paperwork today
-
I just got my paperwork submitted today finally and they said it could take up to three weeks to hear anything. Are seeing Dr. White
-
I know what your saying thinnerme2015, I finished up my six months physician weight management on Oct. 27 and called my coordinator that day and told her I was done with everything and she said she would get my records together and then submit. I haven't heard anything in two weeks so I called today and she said she received everything and I was next in line so she should have it submitted to the insurance company by the end of today. Not sure what took so long since everyone I have seen is all part of the same health system so they have access to my records already but whatever just glad they are finally submitting them today. She said it would be about three weeks and then when and if I get approval the surgeon will call me to come in and visit and schedule my surgery date. Seems like it has taken forever
-
I feel the same way but I have been waiting two weeks for approval. I left my doctor's office a message to call me back so I can see if they heard anything yet. No one even called me back so I will call again in the morning. I am going to call everyday until they call me back. I still have a pre-op physical another visit with the dietitian and labs and meet with the doctor. But I wish they would hurry up and approve me already.

Anyone Going Through Medicare Or Medicaid
ruth1966 replied to ThinnerMe2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Iowa medicaid and I know they require the six months. I think it all depends on your state. I know in Nebraska medicare doesn't require a six month physician weight management program. I think they require a nutrion evaluation and a psych evaluation. I just finished up my 6moths and am waiting on approval from the insurance company now -
That does suck. I just finished my 6 months in october and all my paperwork is suppose to be submitted this week. When I first started I went to my initial visit with the bariatric clinic and then 1 week later I started my6 months and I had gain 2 pounds from their office to my docs. Since then I have lost 37 pounds so I really hope that they don't deny me. Hang in there and fight this. you can do it
