  1. @@lovelytrl 9 pounds! That's so exciting! How are you feeling energy wise?
  2. I read that sometimes the blood thinning injections, when given in the abdomen, can cause bruising.
  3. Did any of you post op sleevers use a CPAP machine? And if so could you please share your experience. Also even if you didn't use a machine were there any sleep apnea issues? Thank you xoxo

@@The Candidate howdy! This is a great group that offers a lot of support. I know 9 months seems like a long time but I bet it will fly by. My Six month program sure did. Your program seems to offer an amazing amount of education and support. I really learned so much in my 6 months from the diet classes to the special Bariatric surgery exercise program. I just felt more comfortable with these programs because they were so non judge mental. We were treated as patients not customers at a gym or diet center. If you know what I mean. Check out Queenofcrop blog for an uplifting read. We're big fans around here!
  8. @@Delta Dawn Congrats! Well done! Prayers and good wishes for an easy recovery. When do you start sipping?

Has anyone been instructed to bring their CPAP machine to the hospital? Did the nurses get involved with monitoring it? I haven't gotten use to it yet and I tend to take it off sometime in the middle of the night. Also did you/do you need to provide your own distilled water?

Just tried the nectar cappuccino flavor protein powder today. Yum! Second favorite to Bariatric advantage iced latte. Also the nectar lemonade and the iced tea flavors are good.
  15. Don't know how that became Chlementine!?! It was Chellede.

Intriguing, Queen! Can't wait for the details! Oh to wear high heels again! I already purchased an incentative pair. Two great things to look forward to next week...surgery and a new blog entry! Really, enjoy your blog ..waiting in anticipation:)
  18. Thank you so much for starting this thread...my surgery is a week from today and I started freaking out yesterday morning - dry heaves and tears. Went to pre-op appointment with the PA and she put things in to perspective when she went over my blood work and sleep study in detail. I realized if I had heard these numbers about someone else and knew that they could change their health with surgery I would tell them to do it. So today as I freak out every few minutes, ,I try to remind myself that This is lifesaving and the right thing to do. Thanks to everyone sharing their stories it helps so much.

Kathy you will be in my prayers! You're gonna do great! I just posted on the Oct forum about my last pre-op appt before surgery, but I want to share it here too...woke up this morning dry heaving, not sick just a case of nerves...went to pre-op and had to turn in a packet which listed all types of risks and complications that I had to initial. I also had the opportunity to go over about a dozen questions with the PA and interestingly she changed some of the medication instructions I had been given earlier this month by the hospitals pre anesthesia team. She said they don't really understand the Bariatric patient. Anyway the good news is I've lost enough weight that I lowered by BMi and my blood pressure was normal! I still have a week of pre- op but charging forward... Good thoughts to all of you.
  20. Went to final pre-op appointment this morning... Have lost 3 pounds after a week on pre-op diet...I know it's not much but every little bit helps and it was cumulatively enough to lower my BMI! my pre-op allows 3 meals choice of food or shakes plus a food or shack snack up to 1200 calories. I had to turn in a packet of page after page of risk or complications that I initialed. That was a bit overwhelming but very informative because I got clear answers on everything. Write down your questions so you don't forget anything you want to ask, it helped calm my nerves a bit. Plus and big plus maybe it was the weight loss but , drum roll please ...my blood pressure was normal. Octobers we're on our way to better health!!

LainieG, how are you doing? My thoughts and prayers are with you, stay strong.
  22. Prayers and good wishes to all having surgery this week and to those post-op.
  23. Lindalue, I want to paraphrase a quote from Dr. Oz that has really helped me. He said that if you are over 50 and obese it is the same as getting a solid diagnosis of cancer. And you would take steps, such as surgery to treat the cancer to save your life. That is what WLS surgery will do. Hope this helps and gives you some comfort and strength.
  24. OMG! I can so relate to the airport, I want to be able to walk to the and from the gate with out a wheelchair. Bet your Thanksgiving is going to be pretty special this year, sounds like a great plan!
