How are you? I pray you can recover soon from surgery. -
I been thinking and I'll keep my appointment for now. I'll bring my husband to the preop appt in feb 28 and go for there. It's been all most a year waiting for approval. I need a positive attitude.

Thank you! It's my decision. It's more like a bad feeling about the surgery. I prayed a lot about this and I don't feel ready. I admire everyone for their courage and determination.

Excercise Machine

I want to get a rowing machine. I decide not to go with surgery and trying to lose weight naturally. -
I just took 24 days no pay days off for a overseas travel to visit my family. My insurance approve me and I have to have surgery before march. My doctor office called me Friday and say everything is ready for surgery. Now I'm wondering if I can take more days off from work. Or should I wait? I'm worry to lose my job. Also do I really need someone at home with me ? if so how many days? Dr said I need only 2 weeks off, but I heard people saying 1 month/6 weeks. Should I wait to have surgery? I'm worry that insurance will have to do all process again.

I work for a small medical clinic we are 20 employes. I'm an Opthomologist tech. On my feet all day. But I work only 21 hrs a week. I can schedule surgery in march. I'll have to talk to my boss. -
I'm so happy that finally I hot my insurance letter of approval!!!! I'll have to do a bypass instead of a sleeve. My insurance doesn't cover the sleeve. Now I can't sleep, please tell me all the positive things about having this surgery done.
-
@1naturalLuser that's great testimony that if all of us here could have lose it on our own will be done already. I'm still waiting on my insurance appeal because I think gastric sleeve might be less invasive. My insurance don't cover gastric sleeve. I don't know why I'm thinking that the sleeve is easier??? I'll give one more week and then I'll ask the dr to go and request insurance for gastric bypass. Good luck on your surgery

Why did you choose gastric bypass. I just learned my insurance doesn't cover gastric sleeve after 6 month preop appt and diet. So now my choice is lap bad or gastric bypass. Those are the only 2 my insurance will pay. I always though gastric bypass is too invasive and scary for some reasons. Any help?

Hello after many months of preparations, dieting etc my surgeon submit papers for surgery request, insurance denied, I call insurance and they told me it's because it's missing clinical note, surgeon told me it's because my insurance doesn't cover gastric sleeve. Only lap bad and gastric bypass. I have military tricare west. Any person here has same problem? Should I do the bypass instead? I think sleeve is less invasive.

Insurance doesn't cover gastric sleeve

Today I talk to my surgeon and he said he is going to appeal at the insurance decision to cover the sleeve. He said he will personally call and show them several studies about the efficiency of the sleeve. Off course he told me that might be a long process, but he was saying that medical and Medicare did lots of research etc anyways let's keep finger cross that I can do the sleeve. We both think would be the best surgery for me. Did anyways ever appeal to insurance? -
805 ? 661? Sorry what's those numbers?

What about post op! How long did it take to feel better? Come back to work etc? Congratulation on your 200lbs lost. That's great!

Thank you for your reply. I should introduce my self. I been over weight all my highest weight was 240 now I drop to 210. Because the bariatric center want me to lose weight before they even submit the papers. Finally in sept 2, they submit request to insurance and I just learned today that it was denied because they don't cover gastric sleeve. I have a severe sleep apnea and high blood pressure and I'm 36 years old women, 5'5.
