  1. Woo hooooo! I had my RNY on March 19, 2015. I've lost 62 lbs so far. I am disabled, so I won't lose as fast as many people. I've been wearing my same size 5X tops forever! When I was feeling optimistic a few months ago, I ordered my same style trapeze tank tops from Roamans in a 2X. I set them aside for a long time because they just looked too small. Last night, I realized all of my pajama tops were all in the laundry basket, so I grabbed a 2x tank top for the night, and it fit!!!!!!! I'm not even close to being confident enough to wear something snug around my hips and belly, but now I feel like I really did lose some weight! I know that many of us wear loose, stretchy clothes, and I probably will for a long time, but at least its a smaller size! Most of my weight is around my middle, so I just wasn't seeing a big change there. I really needed this victory!

discouraged after 2nd post op doctor visit

Thank you, Djmohr ! I really need a little encouragement!
  3. I had my RNY Mar. 18th. I've lost 60 lbs since my pre-op diet in February. I saw the PA at the surgeons office this week, and he really hounded me about exercising. I felt he was dismissive about the constipation, and I felt like he was looking for what I was doing wrong, instead of encouraging me. If he had even given me a little verbal "pat on the back" for what I have accomplished I would feel so much better about myself. I thought 60 lbs was pretty good for 4 months, especially since I am disabled, with serious spine problems. The PA kept telling me I should try Water exercises, etc, even though walking in water is is more painful that regular walking for my spine. I can have reconstruction spinal surgery once I lose a total of 100 lbs. Standing up long enough to brush my teeth is intensely painful, for example. The disks in my back from L4 down are totally gone, and I'm loaded with arthritis. I am doing a little gardening, and I can stand and walk just a little longer than before I lost the weight. I am trying to be a little more active, and have trouble sleeping at night because of the pain. I can't go shopping without a wheelchair. Then the next day at lunch, my mother (I am 58 years old btw) said she thought I ate too much. The most I can eat at a time is less than one cup of food. If it is a dense Protein, I cannot eat a cup. For example, a Protein Bar fills me up for a few hours, and sometimes I can't eat a whole protein bar. I cannot finish a milk based proein drink in one sitting, but I prefer to sip on a nectar Protein Drink very slowly. I do eat protein first, and watch my calories, and track what I eat on Fitness Pal. The doctor said I should eat between 800-1200 calories a day. I hit a little stall at six weeks, and went back to mostly just protein, but started losing again when I added some other foods, like fruits and vegetables. Should I be losing weight faster?

    How long in real pain?

I suggest you call the doctor. I had an open surgery with an incision that is about 8 inches long. By three weeks, I had a little discomfort, but not any real incision pain. Really my incision pain wasn't very bad after a week, but they used adhesive to close the incision, with disolvable stitches on the inside. . I have chronic pain in other areas of my body, and I was surprised that I didn't have more pain. I hope it clears up for you!
  5. Had a gastric bypass revision on mar. 18. I was 332 at my pre-op office visit, 313 on surgery day. I am down to 299. i have my first post -op visit tomorrow. I am in an amazingly good mood. I think it is from the healthier eating and Vitamins. I just hope I lost enough in the 3 weeks since the surgery. I am disabled and cannot move much. I did put in a flower garden with lots of help from my grandson. I can mostly work on the planters, but I think it will be fun to watch the flowers grow while I shrink. The dreaded huge double chin shrank a little and I saw it in a picture taken yesterday! It is still there, but much smaller.

    March 2015 Surgery!

My surgery was Mar. 18. I had an open revision, so I have an incision. The surgeon used adhesive instead of staples, so it is uncomfortable, but not as bad as staples. I've had other surgeries, first time without staples! I actually feel very good. My first followup appointment is next week. I did have a "why on Earth did I do this?" day 5 days after surgery. I was a crying mess. I hadn't slept well since the surgery, partly because I had a low grade fever, and was getting chills and sweats. Oh, and I was in pain! I take anxiety meds , so I took an anxiety pill, and some liquid tylenol for the fever, and I finally slept well. The next morning I felt SO much better. I have to be on full liquids for a total of four weeks. The surgeon just recently changed that policy. It used to be two weeks, but I don't mind, because I am so afraid I will mess this up! . I just want to heal well. They said I would be sore in my upper left part of my abdomen , because that is where they cut the muscle, and it does hurt there, but only if I am up doing something. I'm alternating between Protein drinks, and yogurts, with some broth once in a while. I'm disabled, so it is painful for me to stand long enough to blend and strain Soups, but I've done it a couple of times. I had strained french onion Soup once, and it was a nice change, but the thing I microwaved it in smelled like onions for a while!!! I hope you are all feeling well. I have one more pound to lose to get into the 2s!!!!

    March WLS Check-in

I'm one week out, and feeling really good. I had trouble sleeping for a few days ( I had on open revision, so big incision). Once I got some sleep, I felt great, still a little sore, but not bad. I take some liquid Tylenol if my insides are feeling sore, or if I do too much, and that really helps. I use Nectar Fuzzy Naval watered down a little if I'm having trouble getting all my protein in. It counts as water, too. I hope you are all enjoying good health!

Hello and welcome to our newest forum!

I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake! It took scrolling through a few post to realize the inch grown wasn't in height!

    Mar 18th surgery

I had my surgery Mar. 18th. It was an open revision from an old horizontal stomach stapling to RNY. I feel really great today. I had a couple of days of depression, but I wasn't getting much sleep and i think that made it feel worse. Once I slept, I felt so good! My incision is a little sore, but other all is well. i'm alternating between nectar Fuzzy Naval (watered down a little), and Protein drinks made the triple x method by Bariatric Foodie. I add a little sugar free pudding mix to the Protein powder and milk, blend it well, add ice, and blend it really well again. I put some in a small cup, and put the rest in the refrigerator, and eat it a little at a time. I bought some little disposable tasting spoons from Amazon, because I was having trouble keeping my bites small enough with a regular spoon. I found that some liquid Tylenol helps if my inner stitches (or whatever is holding all that together inside!) hurts. I don't know if it coats it, or what, but it does give me some relief! I hope my March surgery friends are doing well!
  11. I just finished my last Protein drink for a while. My surgery is Wednesday, and I am supposed to be on Clear liquids all day tomorrow. Today I got very nervous. I was trying to do what I can before the surgery, but my chronic pain issues force me to stop and sit frequently. I've been mostly excited until today. Today, I remember the pain after abdominal surgeries of the past. I am having an open revision. Any suggestions for things I should take to the hospital, or what I should have at home for afterward.

    Surgery on March 18th

My surgery is Mar. 18th, too! I am excited one minute, and kind of nervous the next. I am doing OK on the pre-op diet. My mom is going up to Phoenix with me. We live about three hours away. my husband will stay home. He has cancer, so the trip might be too much for him. i am having an open revision from an old stomach stapling to gastric bypass. I've had other abdominal surgeries, so I have an idea of what to expect. I don't know if that makes me more, or less nervous! @@marissa75 @@cnjashton @@timeforme2015 I hope you will update us on your progress!
  14. I'm having an open revision on Wed. Mar 18. I am both excited and nervous. I had my stomach stapled way before they were doing Lap bands. My surgeon performed stomach stapling surgeries back then, so he has a good idea of what we are dealing with. I am nervous about having an open surgery again. I have two big , long incisions down my abdomen from the original weight loss surgery, and having my gallbladder and appendix out, so I have an idea of what to expect. If you've had an open revision, did you wear a binder afterward? if so, for how long/ Where did you get it? How long were you in the hospital/ How long was your incision? Do you have any advice for me? Thanks, Kristy
